Be warned everybody, there's a rivalry between brits and aussies about everything. We'll always somehow manage to find a way of annoying each other. To all the brits out there, does anybody else share the national love of football or am I on my own? Oh thanks for the welcome everybody. Looking forward to all the discussions.

Hey Margaret what do you mean by mostly harmless. I'll probably still take the mick anyway. It's kind of a habbit. To all the americans in the group, please never call football soccer, that's just wrong.

But isn't baseball just a glorified version of rounders? LOL. I'll probably get severe words after that comment. I think it would be kind of funny if I tried to get an American to explain all the rules of cricket. Does everybody see what I mean about taking the mick being a habbit.

Don't know how we ever started calling it football.....hardly ever touches the foot! Happen to be a Yank that works sports TV here and mostly American college football. But also a Yank that's a big Crystal Palace fan. Good to see them establishing themselves in Premier League.Jim, have you ever seen the 1930's version of The Good Earth with Paul Muni? Try and find it. Superb

I too like the Monk books best of Perry's series—especially the earlier novels.
Bobby when I was on holiday in America, I always got confused when people started talking about football. AS soon as I heard football, I started talking about Manchester United. The people around me were like no we're not talking about soccer. LOL.

Can anybody recommend a similar series to Bernard Cornwell's Saxon tales series starting with The Last Kingdom. I very much enjoyed this series, can't find anything similar though.
