I think it is a YA book. All I remember is there is an island that the kid has found. There may be a cave on the island. The kid knows the island "disappears" when the tide comes in. The kid is on the island and the tide is coming in, no way to get off the island and no one knows the kid is there. May be 2 kids. May be a boy and girl. There is also an adult male who either befriends or helps them. Kid(s) may be new to the area where the island is.

Can you make a guess at when the book was published?
It would have been published before the mid-60s. I don't remember if it was from the school/public library or if I bought it as a Scholastic Book selection. Probably the latter. This well may be it. I'll consider this solved. And so quickly!
I have started re-reading this book and can confirm it is Dangerous Island I was thinking of. Thanks again Diana!
