I think that if any of the three have to die, it should be Tessa. And I still would be upset, obviously, but she is the person between them. Even if Jem lets Tessa go with Will, or Will lets Tessa go with Jem, one (or both) will be hurting. Someone always has to lose, if someone is going to win.
I had imagined something that would be a "better" (it's not that better) ending.
Maybe there could be some kind of spell or something like that, once someone dies or gives up their life, someone who's dying could be saved. And Will, trying to save Jem, would try to do that, and Tessa would find out about it. She would sacrifice herself to save Jem, and keep Will from killing someone.
It's crazy, and would maybe be good for fanfic, but not perfect. I don't think perfect endings are possible for them at this point.
Anyway, I just wish happy ever after still existed, like when I was nine and stupidly happy. :)

I agree, I love Tessa but she really is the rock in between jem and will. I love them, but if Tessa ends up with one of them, it would destroy the other and their relationship. If Tessa just dies everyone would be better. I hate to admit it, but its true.

There's no way Jem will die, first off it's too obvious even for Clare and secondly because we know there is a new series Lady Midnight and the main girl has the second name Carstairs, and ince Jem has no family it shemusdt be related to him, I also think Cecily has a big part to play, even from the first book when Will said her name i knew she would become important, maybe she and Jem will have children, the idea is growing on me i have to say. Oh yeah and thirdly Jem wont die because of this-

I think that Emma and Jem are related. That way all the series are linked together and we already know how Cassie likes to do that.

I also agree with you in that it is too predictable for Jem to die, everyone's expecting it so Clare will shock us by making Jem live.

It's completely obvious that Tessa will be with Will since she has such stronger feelings for him and is only engaged to Jem because she feels bad for him. I mean come on she had to keep convincing herself that she loved him. I honestly don't know whether Jem will die or not though because I can't imagine him being killed off just for Tessa to be with Will. If Jem died Tessa and Will would probably feel guilty about getting together anyway. I'm thinking he will somehow live and I would hope that he maybe falls in love with Will's sister instead so Tessa is up for grabs for Will :)

I do think Tessa loves Jem, not just because she feels sorry for him, in fact if Will didn't exist im sure she'd be head over heels in love with him, but she loved Will first and as we all know unrequited love always wins out in the end with thse kinds of books, it's just the way. xxx

I also think Gabriel and Cecily get together. And that's how Alec gets his blue eyes. And perhaps Will discovers that deep down he loves Magnus. Either that or he falls off a cliff. (Please!!) Jem and Tessa are too perfect not to be together, and it would be so predictable if Jem died. I bet Mortmain has something up his sleeve. Or maybe they'll meet Raziel or another angel, and that Angel will cure Jem. And since Tessa (might) have Shadowhunter blood, she can then having children, thus creating the bloodline responsible for the character in the new series. Emma Carstairs?

That's actually when Will and Jem meet for the first time when they're like 10 and Will is asking curiously. I thought that the first time I saw the teaser somewhere online but then remembered the conversation in the book.

there are carstairs in her third series. Dark Artifices. and i don't think he will die. it would be to easy for clare to write it like that even though tessa and will wouldn't be together anyway. personally, i think he will suffer but not die. she likes suffering but avoids death in main characters. i don't think tessa will end up with either though. again, more suffering.

Tessa gets married but then something stops the wedding and Jem gets sick. Jem will say that he doesn't want Tessa having to go through this so he breaks it off. Secretly Will is stoked but tries to hide it. They find a cure but by then Will and Tessa have grown closer. They fall in love and there's a cure for Jem and then Jem falls in love with... wait for it...

Wouldn't that be awesome???? I think that'd be the perfect endfing. And all in the third book so she could end it with the trilogy and start on the Dark Artifices. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Here is what I think is going to happen...
Cassie has said herself that in her next series "The Dark Artifices" the main characters last name will be Carstairs.
So, I believe that even though Tessa SHOULD end up with Will in the end, she will marry Jem, because things such as engamnents were taken very serious back in the 1800's!
Saying this, I think that Cecily will hook up with some scum bag-type guy, and will get pregnant- (YES, she would get shunned and everything for not being married, but I have a feeling she wouldn't seem to care!) out of wed-lock, therefore the baby would keep the Herondale name alive, and Tessa and Jem can keep the Carstairs name alive!

no. i think his death would be too easy. it is what everyone is expecting.

edit: will and tessa will NEVER be together if jem dies. that is a fact. personally, i don't think she will end up with either.

edit: as for the carstairs issue, yes there are carstairs in Dark Artifices and unless there are other carstairs besides jem, jem and tessa can't physically end up together. tessa is a warlock and cannot have kids. this means jem cannot die and he cannot end up with tessa. will too has to survive for the herondales to continue on. even if cecily ends up with gabriel, their children will be lightwoods.

I think he might also catch tessa cheating on him, and he will become a silent brother to escape the pain. But tessa is gonna end up with will.

In the Mortal instruments, City of Lost Souls, one of the silent brothers is referred to as "different" and when ask if he ever had people he loved and cared about the silent brother said that there were two people...Which could be Tessa and Will. Plus it would be a way from Jem to not die from his disease...

Emma Carstairs is related to Jem. She is the main protagonist in Cassie's new shadowhunter series The Dark Artfifices. So Jem must of lived if he has Emma Carstairs in his family 150+ years later. LONG LIVE JEM! :)
