Clockwork Prince

Do you think Jem will die?

I hoping here that he will realize that Will and Tessa love each other and break off the engagement. He might marry someone else (maybe Will' sister, wouldn't that be grand?), but because of what the drug did to him, he won't be able to have any children which would explain the lack of Carstairs in MI.

If he has to die, I would rather see him go like that as well.

Going back to the mention of all the relation in between the 2, I have an odd question, should'nt the child carry the fathers name and not the mother, so they is a relation in between the caracters but we can't assume really.
Cassandra is working wonders for me and I'm sure I won't be disapointed.

I wouldn't want him to be a silent brother. What a waste of good looks.

a) sacrfifice himself for Will or Tessa
b) get cured and realise that Will and Tessa are meant to be together and leave London and go back to Shanghai
c)realise that Tessa and Will are meant to be together and stay
d) ummm... die cos of the disease.
either way, i dont think that he will marry Tessa. in the scene where tessa tells will of the engagemnet of her and jem, tessa constantly thinks that she will like to kiss wills eyes open and make him smile again, or put her arms around him. and wgen she thought of jem, there were mostly friendly thoughts. and she described jems kisses as cool air when she describes wills kisses as fire. in every other book ive read, the herione always picks the one whose kisses are like fire... but i dont know.

I'm hoping Tessa will be able to have children. I would love if she was indeed related to Jace because I'm sure she will end up with Will. And I would love even more if she made a proper appearance in one of the TMI books. Maybe she can help save Jace. I would give TMI another try if that happened.

not all jem fans are crazy :)

I agree

1. Jem dies, Will and Tessa can be together
2. Tessa chooses Will, Jem (being the kind soul that he is) gives his blessing (and then maybe/probably dies..)
3. Cassandra Clare takes the "Dear John" by Nicolas Sparks approach and has Will do the if-i-really-love-her-i'll-let-her-go route and let's Jem have her.
Then getting back to what you said, Will may meet someone else sometime later in life, which may be how he's related to Jace. Or heck, maybe the Herondale name comes from Cecily (maybe she kept her name? idk...)
just some thoughts :)

I also agree with you, nine. It's not like I want Jem to die but...i just can't see him NOT dying. If they found some 'cure' at the last minute that would probably make me roll my eyes and be like "oh hooooow convenient!"
but either way, I have faith in Clare and she hasn't disappointed me with the series so far soooo we'll see, I guess.
To bad we have to wait so long, right? :D

Okay so this is a teaser from City of Lost Souls. And I think Magnus is is talking about Will and Jem, so I think Jem will die.
I also think Jem would be able to move on at least if Will died, but if it were Jem who dies, Will would probably go nuts.

ugh. I shudder at the thought.

I haven't thought of it like that until now, but I definitely think that your right. Because think about it, Jem and Will are practically brothers (aside they do not like similar in any way), they're like the two alter egos of one person. Like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
But what we don't know is if Jem will die young (like next book young) or older and later on in life??? Hmmmm...

I am a major Will fan and nearly cried when Tessa agreed to marry Jem! ( Nice way of crushing my dreams Cassie! :P) But if things go good in Clockwork Princess ( Like Tessa and Will getting together I will be so happy I could KISS her!) But yes, Jem should either die or go with somebody else ( Or go silent brother)
Oh and maybe Sebastian gets the hair from Jem because he got with Cecily not Tessa, Cecily's a Herondale it could work!

“It’s not that,” said Magnus. “There are some people — people the universe seems to have singled out for special destinies. Special favors and special torments. God knows we’re all drawn toward what’s beautiful and broken; I have been, but some people cannot be fixed. Or if they can be, it’s only by love and sacrifice so great it destroys the giver.”
This seems to me like a very good summary for "Clockwork Princess".

Wow. How could you possibly dislike such a genuinely good character? ... I'm shocked. If anyone should be getting a backhand, I would imagine it to be Jessamine, not poor Jem :(
Anyways, I love both Will & Jem, and its obvious that Tessa chose Jem because she DID love him, not for the sole purpose of not breaking his heart ... & If Jem happens to survive ... I think that will complicate things even more.
How will Will survive with a broken heart?
How wil Jem survive, if Tessa decides to leave him?
How will Tessa even go about telling Jem that she wishes to no longer be engaged to him?
Too many painful questions. One boy must go.

Was Magnus talking about Will? I think I saw somewhere in clockwork prince, Magnus describes Will as very beautiful and very broken; or was it in clockwork angel?

Ya that was in Clockwork Prince after Will leaves Magnus/the-wearwolf-guy's house, after Magnus summons the demon for Will and he finds out his curse is all a sham.

Again, I think this is too weak. There has to be a more complex, more satisfying solution. And I use the word "satisfying" fully aware that I will be crying my eyes out by the end of Clockwork Princess and probably shouting "This is so unfair!" to the wind.

*sigh* Jem is a motha-freakin' saint...

A: a happy ending for both Jem and Will.
OR
B: One ending for the final print. And an alternate ending as an extra.
(I am so bitter right now. I cant help squealing when i think about Jem dying, or Will being so broken.)

""And the gold of her ruined wedding dress."
That wedding dress has got to be Tessas.

I don't know. I just hope that if Jem does die, he'll die happy. I love Jem! But I also love Will. *sigghhh*

I think he will either die from his illness or he will die in battle.
Whatever happens, I still want Tessa and Will to be together.

Really, I think the find-a-cure-at-the-last-minute would be a total cop-out! Jem already explained that they looked for a cure for YEARS! It would be ridiculous and unrealistic if they suddenly found a cure when he's on his death bed! LOL

I've been asking the same question since the first book began.

I heard about the series you mentioned. And I can't tell if I'm excited or a bit peeved off. I mean I love the whole concept of Shadowhunters but I don't know if I'm liking the plot of this book. But back to the point, the main character is called Emma Castairs so Jem must live on... unless he has another Castairs relative we do not know about.

But who is Jem Carstairs related to? There is no one with the last name "Carstairs" in the Mortal Instruments. It could mean that perhaps he never has children, but that seems unlikely. And now that Mortmain is using all of the opium, there might not be any left for Jem...
Do you think Jem dies? (I hope not)
