WHAT ARE YOU READING?
I am reading "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". It is kind of interesting, but not what I was expecting. I'm only halfway through it so far.
I finished "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" a couple of days ago but have yet to figure out what to read next. I don't want to leave that world yet. Wish I could've waited until all three books were published in the US, but it was a book club selection. Very different than other mysteries out there.

He writes a complex story, with interesting characters, that might suit your post-Lizbeth mood ... LEW

Hi to all. I'm new here. I just finished 1) Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet (tonight). Posted a review. Loved it absolutely! 2) Finished Bel Canto last week. Started out rather dry, but well worth sticking it out. It's one of those books that stays with you long after you've finished reading it (as is "Hotel" also). Before that, An Echo in the Bone because I love Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. If you haven't read it, I recommend starting at the very beginning: Outlander - so you get to know Jamie and Claire and their history together from the very start. "Echo" is #7 in the series. CJ

Sue Grafton's latest - U Is for Undertow - is going to be released December 1st. Any Kinsey Millhone fans out there?CJ
I started The Misadventures of Sister Mary Olga Fortitude Paperback a couple nights ago, only got to read a few pages into it, but i really like it thusfar....its pretty histerical
I'm reading Count of Monte Cristo - on my iPhone, YOU: The Owner's Manual, Updated and Expanded Edition: An Insider's Guide to the Body that Will Make You Healthier and Younger @ home, and I'm listening to The Two Towers in my car
I'm now reading The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown and A Farther Shore Ireland's Long Road to Peace by Gerry Adams, which I seem to have a tendancy to argue with...out loud too which can be a bit disturbing to others around me (got some strange looks from a woman on the train yesterday lol)
Tracy wrote: "I recently started The Gargoyle."I read the Gargoyle... I enjoyed it a lot and I hope you do, too. The Gargoyle is one of those books that I honestly believe I will never forget.
Great! I am enjoying it so far, but I'm not that far into it yet (I'm only at the part where he first meets the woman). I've heard such good things about this book. Hopefully, I can tackle most of it this weekend.

Well, I really do hope you enjoy the book! Have a great weekend! ... Sorry for the yelling hehe
LIFE ASCENDIING by Nick Laneit's about the key steps in evolution for the origins of life,DNA, movement, complex cells all the way through death
very interesting but takes a lot of attention
I am just finishing up American Home Life, 1880-1930 A Social History of Spaces and Services. This book was interesting in that it is a history of how our living space has changed due to changes in society (like moving the bathroom into the house). I am just starting The Yellow-Lighted Bookshop, a memoir and a history of the author's life in books. What can be better than reading a book about books and bookstores. OMG!!!
Just last week I started to read
so far it good. Although I can't say that Her Fearful Symmetry is quite as good as her first book, The Time Traveler's Wife. I still have enjoyed it so far though and will let you know how I like it after I finish it!
Finished Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol, was quite good but had a far bit of deja vu with the Da Vinci Code which spoilt it a little bit. Still think his best book I've read is Angels and Demons.Coming towards the end of Gerry Adams' book but still arguing with it frequently and actually finding myself getting quite wound up by it. He seems to have it in his head the Sinn Fein did everything right while the RUC, the British Army and the Unionist/Loyalist and British politicians got everything wrong, not to mention the fact that he seems to have forgotten that nearly half of all the deaths during the Troubles were the responsibility of the IRA (who apparantly they have absolutely nothing to do with...not quite convinced by that one somehow), but anyway enough of my ranting.
Just started reading The Poe Shadow A Novel by Matthew Pearl, looking forward to getting stuck into it, I must say.
I'm currently reading The Poe Shadow A Novel by Matthew Pearl, Lost Lives by Brian McKittrick and others and also The Penguin Book of Welsh Short Stories edited by Alun Richards.
I'm reading ADLAND by James Ohmer - I like the book so far about being in advertising but I don't know it it's going to be the book I hoped it would be as advertising is so much a part of our cultureLife of Pi by Martell for my local book club
THEN WE CAME TO THE END BY Joshua Ferristremendously funny book about working at a company where downsizing is going on
hard to get through a page without laughing out loud and sometimes have to take break to regain reading focus
I'm now reading The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova at the moment and still continuing with Lost Lives which is taking longer than I thought
I am now reading "Burned" by Ellen Hopkins. I am also going to be continuing with the "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" series by Rick Riordan.
Reading The Planet Pirates Omnibus but after Death of Sleep I'll give it a break and give another book a go. I've just had trouble getting through it and I can't say it's a bad book.
I'm reading TEN DAYS IN THE HILLS by Jane Smileyvery interesting/thought provoking so far
set in LA in 2003 with Iraq War in background among some Hollywood types, their friends and children
strong sexual content but fits in context of the story/relationships
Finished the Historian and have now moved on to War and Peace as it's my personal 2010 challenge, going well so far.
Sam wrote: "Finished the Historian and have now moved on to War and Peace as it's my personal 2010 challenge, going well so far."Good luck on W&P
I read it last year - loved Tolstoy's theory of history expounded in it

I am currently reading:- Douglas Adams's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy 1-4 (at long last; it's been sitting on my shelf for ages!)
- Sheila Fitzpatrick's The Russian Revolution (seems to be a yearly thing now where I re-read this book)
- Herbert Butterfield's Whig Interpretation of History (for some historiography on the side)

Just when you thought that it wa all coing to an end...it didn't and I know it is not the same but Eion Colfe has kept the tradition going with "And Another Thing..." Part 6 of the 'trilogy' I have not read it yet but will get around to it soon. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/66...
I am reading The Stand and I think I just caught a cold. I'm now going to go on a disinfecting blitz.
I just finished The Thieves of Faith by Richard Doetsch. Rapid unrelenting action with many 'players.' An international thriller set in New York, Moscow and Corsica. Not entirely believable but so what.
I've started reading Wilkie Collins's The Woman in White. I'm quite excited to really get into the book; I heard wonderful reviews about it =)Lew wrote: "I just finished The Thieves of Faith by Richard Doetsch. Rapid unrelenting action with many 'players.' I read this book I believe last year (picked it up mainly because a good chunk of the action takes place in Moscow) and it was all right, the main character was interesting.
Ashley wrote: "I am now reading "Crank" by Ellen Hopkins. " is this anything to do with the film of the same name starring Jason Statham?
