Kathy (reedreads) | 5 comments am reading The Little Giant of Aberdeen, EAT ME by Kenny Shopsin, and The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. Oscar Wao isn't wowing (sorry, couldn't help it) so I took a break with Little Giant which, 15 pages in looks Okay, but Eat Me is fantastic. Kenny Shopsin runs a little restaurant in The Village and follows his own rules. I can't put it down. He is endlessly curious and experimental with his foods and I wish I was in NY right now so he could throw me out of his restaurant. Marvelous marvelous marvelous.

Graceling is wonderful. There is a sequel coming out soon too. I loved the world building and the character development. Looking forward to more from this author.

Liz (busy91) I'm reading "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon. I'm about 180 pages from the end. It has been an interesting ride, definetly a top 5 read for me. I'll move on to the next book, but not right away. It is taking a lot out of me to read this one.

Elizabeth (Alaska) I'm reading Flower Net A Red Princess Mystery by Lisa See. Written before her best seller Snow Flower and the Secret Fan A Novel, it is both mystery and thriller. With less than 50 pages to the end, I am happy to recommend it.

Jim | 112 comments THE LIZARD'S BITE by David Hewson
set in Venice and a mystery only read 25 pages but already feel like I'm in Venice watching a mystery unfold
Hewson draws characters's personalities and events like a fine sketch artist only with words instead of pen and ink

message 530: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 42 comments I'm nearing the end of A Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon. It has taken a couple of months, but finishing this book will complete reading the Outlander series for now, six books with between 850-950 pages each. The next one, An Echo in the Bone doesn't come out until September, so I'm hoping to catch up on a lot of other reading before then. I do love the series, though.

Wow Amazon sent me a message today telling me that a book I know I am going to read is coming out this year. Dan Brown The Lost Symbol is coming out at the end of the summer... I got so excited about this that I just had to share the news.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/0385504225/r...

The Lost Symbol will once again feature Dan Brown’s unforgettable protagonist, Robert Langdon.

“The Lost Symbol is a brilliant and compelling thriller. Dan Brown’s prodigious talent for storytelling, infused with history, codes and intrigue, is on full display in this new book. This is one of the most anticipated publications in recent history, and it was well worth the wait,” said Sonny Mehta, Chairman and Editor in Chief of the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group.

Brown’s longtime editor, Jason Kaufman, Vice President and Executive Editor at Doubleday said, “Nothing ever is as it first appears in a Dan Brown novel. This book’s narrative takes place in a twelve-hour period, and from the first page, Dan’s readers will feel the thrill of discovery as they follow Robert Langdon through a masterful and unexpected new landscape. The Lost Symbol is full of surprises.”

"This novel has been a strange and wonderful journey," said Brown. "Weaving five years of research into the story's twelve-hour timeframe was an exhilarating challenge. Robert Langdon’s life clearly moves a lot faster than mine."

message 542: by Dawn (new)

Dawn Celmer (bhekadawn) | 4 comments I'm reading Two Riversat this time and really loving it. From the reviews that I've seen so far either you love it or can't stand it.

Kathy! I read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo several months ago and just loved it. I'm glad you are enjoying it also!

message 543: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 42 comments Dawn, I finished The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo last night and have added it to my favorite books. I am so looking forward to the sequel by Larsson, The Girl Who Played with Fire (there wasn't an English link to it yet on goodreads). The English publication comes out the end of July this year. Two Rivers looks interesting. I'll have to add it to my to-reads. I've started on Glass by Ellen Hopkins, a YA book and sequel to Crank.

I hope I get some good advice soon in the book about what I should be eating

any one know how valid the author's views are?

message 547: by Trisha (new)

Trisha | 2 comments I have just finished PEOPLE OF THE BOOK by Geraldine Brooks and really enjoyed the story.
This is a set book for the book group that I belong to, and we had previously read last year, MARCH by the same author - which follows on with the family at the time of the civil war.
See that a few people have read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. - I enjoyed this book as well and looking forward to reading the next one - The Girl with the Stone Dragon.

message 548: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Hi Gail- I've read all of Jim Butcher's Dresden files and have liked the series so far. He has new book in the series, Turn Coat, that just came out (which I've not yet read). The series is similar to Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake but without the sex. The series is more hardcore fantasy featuring vampires, werewolves, fairies (not the Tinker Bell kind). If just starting the series, definitely try to read them in order. Hope you enjoy them!
