Dee Marie (dee_marie) | 23 comments "Hi Everyone. My name is Dee Marie, and I am a Crown Conspiracy addict...and have been one since I read the first chapter." Waving hello, and grinning foolishly before sitting down.

Standing up again..."Oh, and I do not wish to be cured of my addiction." Sitting down again.

Whispering to Robin and Michael, "Thanks for the invitation."

Wave Dee,
I think it is safe to say that Robin and I have named you the #1 fan. So glad you've enjoyed the Crown Conspiracy.

Michael

message 3: by Dee (new)

Dee Marie (dee_marie) | 23 comments Ewww, #1 Fan sounds so ... Stephen King-ish
{insert waaaaaaaay evil Kathy Bates laughter}

All teasing aside, as I have mentioned in other posts, after reading the first chapter, I had a gut feeling that your book would be a huge success, and my gut is never wrong.

Ahh, and to think we all knew you when ;]

Dee Marie

Lol Dee...I'm sure Michael didn't mean it in the Stephen Kingish sense. But I did enjoy that book and thought the movie adaptation was pretty good as well.

I'm Heather and just love The Crown Conspiracy! :-) I cannot wait for Avempartha! :-)

Ravenskya (ravenskya) considers trying to convert Crown Conspiracy into a screenplay...

You're not the first. There is another GRs member who mentioned that too. There appears to be something about TCC that begs for a movie. Perhaps I should do like Dee and start a "who would star in the movie version" post, in order to start calling them now. Don't want them to commit to other projects =)

message 8: by Heather (new)

Heather (ham1299) | 232 comments I think it would make an awesome movie.

message 9: by Ravenskya (new)

Ravenskya (ravenskya) I write screenplays as a hobby, and when I get stuck on something, I write books into screenplays... not that I ever do anything with them, since I generally don't have the author's permission to do it in the first place... it's just sort of an exercise that I do.

Your book could either be turned into something very good and entertaining.. or something very bad depending on who does the movie

message 12: by Vicki (new)

Vicki Hi, I am Vicki. I loved the book and can't wait to read the next one.

message 13: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 9 comments Hi, I'm Sarah. I really enjoyed The Crown Conspiracy. I've ordered Avempartha and have been checking the postbox like crazy since. I've already put my husband and the boys on notice that upon it's arrival Mummy is not to be disturbed.

Hey Sarah and LIbby - Welcome !! I'm so glad you liked the first one and are excited about the second - I predict you'll love it -- I know I did.

message 16: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 56 comments Hi, I'm Elise. I came over after hearing about this group from the fantasy book club. I really enjoyed The Crown Conspiracy and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. This would be the first time I've read a series from an independent author. I would never have heard about it if not for Goodreads!

message 17: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 56 comments Hi all! I'm Kathy, I live in the great cold state of Wisconsin, and thanks to Goodreads, I ordered my signed copy of TCC and loved it!

I found this thread after either Robin or Michael posted about this group on the Sci Fi Fantasy group discussion about TCC. I am looking forward to spending way too much time talking about the twists, turns, and speculation (much to the laughter of the author, who already knows how the series ends) about the series and chatting with other Riyria addicts.

You know, I never would've heard about it without Goodreads, either! One more reason I'm glad I found Goodreads!

message 20: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) Would you believe I just found this group? I was supposed to be writing, but of course I got distracted by something-I don't remember what it was.
Anyway, started exploring the site, and voila! Here I am. I'm so glad to hear the Crown Conspiracy and Avempartha are doing well. We are waiting patiently for Nyphron Rising.

message 22: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) So am I. I am just reading all the awesome things that have happened over the past few months. You've both worked hard for this and definitely deserve to do well. I'm excited for you, and for the release of Nyphron Rising.

message 23: by Robin (last edited Sep 07, 2009 06:50PM) (new)

Robin (robinsullivan) | 268 comments Mod

Ya it is hard work - but very rewarding when fans appreciate the books.

message 24: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) I don't think there are any worries there. These books are definitely appreciated. My daughter has reread The Crown Conspiracy & Avempartha more than once. She's telling me about things that I missed. I hope she's able to read Nyphron Rising or she'll hate me forever.

message 25: by Robin (new)

Robin (robinsullivan) | 268 comments Mod
Re-reading is definitely something you want to do as the series progressess there are lots of things that are planted in early books that you don't fully understand or appreciate until later in the series.

message 26: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) I know, I've read Crown Conspiracy again, after Courtney mentioned a few things, and I was like "i don't remember that." Before I read Nyphron Rising, I plan to read Avempartha once more, to refresh my memory. I doubt Courtney will need to do either, but she still has to wait for me to approve it before she can get her hot little hands on it.

So there will be some 'Ahhh...I get it now.' moments?

message 27: by Robin (new)

Robin (robinsullivan) | 268 comments Mod
From an "appopriate" nature if she has read CC and Avempartha then she will be fine with Nyphron Rising. The books were written with an adult audience in mind but they are pretty PG-13 in nature. Not that I don't recommend you reading first before letting Cortney read them - I always suggest that but if you were okay with Avempartha you'll be find with Nyphron.

message 28: by Heather (new)

Heather (ham1299) | 232 comments I plan to read all six back-to-back once they're all out! :-) I look forward to re-reading them in that manner!

message 29: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) That's good to know Robin. I wasn't too worried about there being anything too 'adult'. Thanks.

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Heather wrote: "I plan to read all six back-to-back once they're all out! :-) I look forward to re-reading them in that manner!"

Definitely! I refuse to re-read them until then, too. I loved the Belgariad/Mallorean by Eddings, but my wife & I started reading it the year after it came out. One book a year for the next 8 or 9 years & we'd at least skim the previous books each time. I got burned out on it by the end. Ditto with Harry Potter.

Me, too!

message 33: by Robin (new)

Robin (robinsullivan) | 268 comments Mod
So I've re-read them many times ;-) But I must say that that even though I've read Nypron Rising several times in quick sucession I really enjoyed it each time. This bodes well as I was not in the same state of mind after The Crown Conspiracy and Avempartha. Not that I don't love all my children equally - but I do think they keep getting better and better with each one.

So far I would have to agree with that!

Ridan | 41 comments Hey all,
I've been "lurking about" but thought I would introduct myself. I'm Susan and I'm an intern that is working with Ridan Publishing. So I'll be "popping in" from time to time updating you on news about Michael's books.

message 39: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) This is a sort-of introduction. My wife, Margaret, who rarely touches the computer, has finally gotten around to reading the books & LOVED them. It was a good thing there were only 3 books out because I was starting to get hungry fending for myself for dinner. I can tell how much she likes a book by how often I have to feed myself. Anyway, you got a new fan, even if she isn't on line.

How's it coming on the next book? We're both anxious!

Haha. I loved that Jim. You'll have to have her stock the freezer before she gets her hands on the next one.

message 41: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I'm just whining. I could live off my fat for days.
;-)

Actually, I'm also a decent cook. I'm just too lazy. I should cook more since Marg hates to cook anymore, especially now that it's just the two of us after all those years of feeding a tribe. She's always very appreciative when I make dinner.

message 42: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) I'd be appreciative too. Jeeze a man who makes dinner is welcome at my house any time.

Tell Margaret that we finished editing The Emerald Storm last night and that the book has entered the proofing stage. That is to say, all the major work is done and we are down to the typos, commas and misspellings.

If I'm not mistaken, Jim, Robin has you down on her short list for beta testers so you might be getting an ARC copy real soon. So you might want to stock up on Ramen noodles.

message 44: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Super! I could stand to use a few pounds. Thanks, Michael!!!

message 45: by Chris (new)

Chris Schroeder | 3 comments On to proofing?!? Awesome news! I think I've just about worn the print off of Avempartha having read it multiple times. Looking forward to The Emerald Storm!!

message 46: by Janny (new)

Janny (jannywurts) When is your release date for Emerald Storm?

message 47: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Margaret says the release date better be soon & for you to write the other books faster.

(Just passing along what The Boss said. Don't shoot the messenger.)

;-)
