I suffer from the same problem Jaxnsmom :) My library was on strike last month for two weeks and I had the shakes and mood swings... as soon as it opened again I um...well I hugged a bookcase. Darren (the mister) of course took this in stride and gave me a moment.

It was tough...a lot of chocolate was eaten and many cups of tea helped. The horror of it all still haunts me lol.

I have read
but it was so long back that I can't remember how much I liked it. I think it would have been OK. If you tell me it's great after you finish reading, maybe I will pick it up again. I have a copy.

It is a fairly short book so I should have it finished in the next few days and I will definitely come back and let you know what I think Pragya : ) Writing myself a note here at the computer so I don't forget lol
Pragya wrote: "Robin wrote: "Nice ones Pragya!!! I read The Reader some time ago but I liked it : )"Did you see the movie after reading it? I am contemplating watching after reading."
I tried to respond to this earlier before my internet went down : ( but didn't make it in time. Sorry that I am just now seeing this but in answer to the question: No I haven't seen the movie. I tend to get very disappointed in the movies made from books. The one that upset me the most was
as I absolutely loved this book and didn't feel like the movie gave it justice. I am not really a movie/tv type of girl. Now that I think about it I haven't watched any tv or movie since December, or at least that is the last time I can recall watching anything lol We don't have cable just Netflix, but that is ok it just keeps me reading more : )
Oh, I didn't even know that
was a book! I saw the movie and loved it, so now I should avoid the book. Whatever I do later, I dislike. If I read a book first, I don't like the movie and vice versa. I have ceased to be a movie person since I got so much into books. Even I can't remember when I last saw a movie, around February I guess.
Pragya wrote: "Oh, I didn't even know that

Pragya wrote: "Oh, I didn't even know that

If I read a book first, I don't..."I think you would find that you prefer the book over the movie in this case (even with reading the book second). The book was significantly better than the movie.
I just brought
for our bookclub.
Judy wrote: "We really need to get the Library-aholics 12 step group up and running again... LOL! "I decided that since I couldn't make a difference, I would join them. Every time I look at the one book I borrowed from the library, I get a warm fuzzy.

Judy wrote: "We really need to get the Library-aholics 12 step group up and running again... LOL!"I would have to join. I've already admitted my addiction in another group:
Hi. My name is jaxnsmom, and I am an addict.
I read/listen just about anywhere. I walk out of a library chastising myself, because there's no way I can read those 10 books and listen to the 10 audiobooks in two weeks, and I KNOW this, so why do I keep doing it??? And I've still got 15 books on my mp3 player, oops, make that 21, I downloaded 6 more today, and those 51 books on the dining room table that I bought last year and swear I'm going to read this year...pressure...not at all. HaHa! And I'm returning audios to another library tomorrow, and I'm almost afraid to think of what might happen...

I don't know what the scoop is with the security guard (or his schedule). I was walking into the building and he was headed towards me. I thought he was checking the parking meters. I said to myself, "It's Saturday, I don't have to plug the parking meter." He just smiled and said "Good morning." Then, I noticed him making rounds inside the library and I wondered how boring that job must be.
I think I'll go read in the library again and see if he's there.
My branch has a security guard but that's because mine is the main one for the area as it's the largest. There are several smaller branches not to far from it. When I go to the Toronto reference library we have to have our bags checked as we go out, I like the idea of having them at the larger branches because I have no idea what's going on with a lot of the teens where I live but they're such trouble makers that a few times they've had to be escorted off the property for being downright rude/stupid.
My branch (which is in a residential neighborhood but across from a middle school) has a security guard who mainly polices the kids who come hang out after school. We did have a robbery one day when a woman with a gun came and robbed the clerk and stole a purse. She was caught by an off-duty police officer (and not the guard.) It was a very isolated occurence (she had robbed the Chick Fil A earlier in the day.) No one knows what she thought she could get at the library! Since then things have been very calm.

The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead and I didn't find it in any way funny. But I loved World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War.
