Phew! I had images of your library bursting at the seams with all the books you're returning ;)

Hi Kelly! Welcome to our group. Give us a shout if you have any questions. :)

message 555: by Susan (new)

Susan (chlokara) Wow! You've got me beat. I usually have 8-9 books out at once.

My bet is she builds a fort.

message 557: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59990 comments Will she be fortified then?

message 558: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments Oh, this $^()@^#$ computer. I wrote a message and posted it, but I guess it didn't post.

I put them in piles and shuffle them, trying to decide what to read, why do I have so many books, why do I keep doing this... ☺ Then I use some to cover my bed so Callie won't dig up the covers while making herself comfy.

message 559: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59990 comments I have trouble shuffling a deck of cards, let alone a pile of books.

Don't you hate that when cyberspace eats your messages?

message 560: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19214 comments Janice wrote: "Will she be fortified then?"

Very!

My other guess was that she puts them into piles, commandeers a puppy to lie on them all so she can get interesting profile pictures.

I just purchased Underworld by Don DeLillo at a library sale! I have no idea when I will get to it! WAY TOO MANY BOOKS!!! You will have to let me know when you start to read it.

You really are ambitious with those two chunksters! I listened to Matterhorn and it is one of the best books I've ever heard!

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments Judy wrote: "Does a stack of books plus shuffling create book solitaire?"

If it does, I have to get back to the library to get more books so I'll have a full deck! LOL

Janice (jamasc) | 59990 comments Judy wrote: "Does a stack of books plus shuffling create book solitaire?"

If so, it should be entered into the Guiness Book of World Records.

message 569: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments Judy wrote: "Are you saying you weren't operating with a full deck?"

I'd like to think I am, but I don't know anyone who would agree with me. I suppose I play with the Jokers more than the other cards. ☺

message 570: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly | 2033 comments So I got these at the library today:

Embrace (The Violet Eden Chapters, #1) by Jessica Shirvington Wolf Storm by Dee Garretson Claire de Lune (Claire de Lune, #1) by Christine Johnson Juliet Immortal (Juliet Immortal, #1) by Stacey Jay Forever (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #3) by Maggie Stiefvater Dark Eden (Dark Eden, #1) by Patrick Carman and for a re-read I borrowed Primeval Extinction Event (Primeval) by Dan Abnett

I enjoyed this book. I gave it 4 stars. I didn't know anything about Schindlers List and how it was associated with Nazi Germany before I read the book. I felt it was very summarised though and could have had more detail.

I did actually put more books on hold after. About the book. I only gave it 2 stars(maybe I am too harsh). It was a bit slow in sections. I have heard that the next book is better though. If the next book isn't better, I probably won't end up finishing the series.

Janice (jamasc) | 59990 comments AmyK wrote: "Do you have to pay for your library membership Janice?"

Yes. City residents pay $7.50 a year. Until I moved into the city back in April, I would have had to pay $40.00 a year. It all has to do with municipal funding.

message 585: by AmyK (new)

AmyK (yakyma) | 1045 comments Ours have always been free in Oregon. After i asked the question i looked up Edmonton's library to look at the cost since we are moving there next summer. Interesting differences. $40 a year is a lot.......still worth it though depending on what the library system offers.

To be fair 1. I wasn't a mod, and 2. I didn't know it would be so well received! I thought I be quietly humoured and then whispered about when I left the room.

message 593: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly | 2033 comments I went to the library and brought home:
River Marked (Mercedes Thompson, #6) by Patricia Briggs Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner The Brides of Rollrock Island by Margo Lanagan and Roots The Saga of an American Family by Alex Haley (The audiobook)

message 594: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly | 2033 comments It's really good! I have the one that's narrated by Avery Brooks. Not sure if you were a fan of Deep Space Nine but he played captain Sisko on that. I'm really impressed with it. It's one of my favourite books I've read it about 10 times since I was 13. I saw it by chance at the library and had to grab it so I could burn it to my laptop.

Kimberly | 2033 comments I went to the library and picked up these holds: Survive by Alex Morel The Vicious Deep (The Vicious Deep #1) by Zoraida Córdova Primeval (Event Group Adventure, #5) by David Lynn Golemon (a re-read) and Wicked as They Come (Blud, #1) by Delilah S. Dawson

Have I mentioned how glad I am to be using the library again?!

message 596: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly | 2033 comments Went to the library to pick up these holds:
Fatalis by Jeff Rovin (a re-read) North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell The Mephisto Covenant The Redemption of Ajax (The Mephisto Covenant, #1) by Trinity Faegen

And while I was there I wandered into the teen section and one thing led to another and these books hopped in my bag to come home with me:

Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna, #1) by Kendare Blake Born Wicked (The Cahill Witch Chronicles, #1) by Jessica Spotswood The Forsaken (The Forsaken, #1) by Lisa M. Stasse The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #1) by Michelle Hodkin

I'm reading Matched right now - I started with pretty low expectations but it certainly has some interesting ideas - it all depends what you want out of it I guess!

And I loved [book:Anna Dressed in Blood|9378297] - it's perfect Halloween reading :)
