Domonic glanced down at her peaceful expression and smiled. For once, things seemed to be in order for the OCD patient and it felt good that he was partially responsible for it. "How's everything going? Good?"

She nodded. "Mhm. They've been getting better, too." She didn't have to specify what. They both knew what they were talking about.

"That's spectacular. Which nurse has been taking over for me?" Domonic had decided that it would be best if a different nurse took over her sessions and he just checked in on her and took over anything else she needed.

Cadenza smiled. "I miss you though. I don't get to see you as much." She linked one hand with his, pissing a gentle kiss to his cheek.

"I know I miss you too," he admitted and placed a kiss to her lips. "But I try and see you when I can, and if I were to be with you during your sessions, the both of us would be quite distracted. We'd get nowhere."

Soft thumping sounds echoed about the room, the source of them Ruby's feet as she bumped her bare heels rhythmically back against one of the couches. Her green eyes were wandering from person to person, shadow to shadow--but there was no fear in them today. The shadows in the common room today were all friendly, many were simply lazing about whispering to each other, and the ones that weren't paid her no attention. It was comforting.

((Oh haha yep.))
The young murderer sat close to the fireplace, his own blue eyes meeting those of his nurse, who always kept a watchful eye and was too close for comfort. He leaned rather comfortably against the plush cushions, one hand resting atop the knife that was constantly in his pocket.
Gems of blue eyes danced their way across the room, eyeing each person and deciphering them and their secrets in a single glance, a short moment. Gaze of blue sky landed on the young girl and paused.
Felix was intrigued by the innocent girl.

Felix was intrigued by the innocent girl.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a soft pwoosh. Ruby jumped a little and turned to the side--she knew what that noise meant. A shadow had come to see her. It was a little boy's shadow, and in its small hand it held an equally small knife. She bit her lip, concerned by the sight, and shied away. "What?" came the whispered word. "What do you want?"

An arch of one eyebrow, cynical expression in place, and Felix turned blue gaze away from the girl. He looked down at his hands in his lap.
He was intrigued, however. Blue was making periodic flashes back to the girl, curious.

The shadow and the little girl spent several minutes simply staring at each other, and it was making Ruby uneasy. She turned to its owner, the small boy across the room, and gave a quiet call: "Please, make him go away. He's scaring me." She nodded to the shadow beside her and shuddered. The small knife in its hands hadn't gone away, and though it hadn't brandished it at her--yet--she didn't like the weapon's presence.

Felix arched an eyebrow. "Pardon?"
He glanced at where the girl was looking, and saw nothing. His brows furrowed, but he didn't say anything about it.

"Make him go away," Ruby repeated, in a whisper, as if she were afraid of someone overhearing. She pointed to the shadow beside her. "He's scaring me." As she spoke she edged further down the couch, bringing her knees up under her chin and leaning against the leather arm so as to get as far away from the dark knife as possible. She shot Felix a pleading look, her dark green eyes wide.

Felix didn't know how to explain it, but something about this girl was different. The boy would have normally turned a blind eye, laughed, and ignored it.
Something in this girl's pleading look made him think twice, however. It wasn't him she was afraid of; she didn't even seem to think twice about him. It was something else entirely.
Felix played along. "How?"

Felix played along. "How?"
"I don't...I don't know." Ruby lowered her eyes, her lips beginning to tremble. She could feel panic beginning to close her throat, her thoughts--and out of the corner of her eye saw the young boy's shadow raise the knife in her direction. "Call him back!" she cried as the shadow advanced, leaping up and away. Tears of fear threatened at the corners of her eyes, and her voice was growing shrill. "Please!"

Blue eyes flashed to his nurse, who was growing more and more suspicious.
Felix tried to keep playing, although it wasn't really playing anymore. He was genuinely concerned-- although a little more curious than concerned.
He tried, calling out to the empty air in front of him, yelling orders, trying anything. Blue gems flashed between the girl and his nurse, not sure which he was trying to appease anymore.

A few seconds passed. Ruby didn't dare to hope--but the shadow's knife disappeared, and the black shape itself retreated from the couch and slinked from sight. She let out the breath she'd been holding and ran to Felix, throwing her arms around him briefly in a hug, not caring that he was a stranger, only caring that he had saved her, and sent the shadow away. Her voice was trembling, just slightly, but she whispered the words to him anyway: "Thank you. Thank you thank you thank you."

Felix laughed, both at the girl and at the look his nurse gave him. She didn't seem all too thrilled that the young killer had a girl in his arms.
"There there, it's okay. It's gone." Felix patted her back gently, smirk in place.

Ruby beamed against him for another moment or two before pulling back to look at his face. "My name is Ruby," she said. "What's your name?" She noted the look of stunned, almost suspicious surprise that had claimed the woman behind Felix, and in the back of her mind wondered why it was there. The woman's shadow, too, looked displeased---pacing the floor behind the boy with quick agitation--but the girl herself could find no reason for the distrust. Her new friend had just saved her from harm; didn't that garner a bit of happiness?

"Felix," said the killer, offering a hand and giving a signature cynical smirk to his nurse. He smiled at Ruby, a real smile, something not often seen by the boy.
"Hi, Felix." Ruby sat back on her knees and tilted her head at him curiously, taking his hand in her own--though she didn't quite like shaking hands--and shaking it a few times. "What's wrong with your nurse?" She nodded to the woman behind him, with her concerned frown. "What did I do?"

Again, Felix laughed a little. "She's just concerned for your safety ," said the killer, putting quotations around the last few words and rolling his baby blue eyes.
Ruby's face puckered in confusion. "Well why's she like that? The mean shadow is all gone now." She gave the nurse behind them a questioning look for a moment, peering at her over Felix's shoulder. "There's nothing to be scared of anymore."

Ruby gave a slight smile. "Sometimes adults are dumb," she said. "You shouldn't worry about what they think all the time. I'm not scared of you. You saved me."

Another little smile crossed Felix's lips. "Well I'm happy to be the night in shining armour," he said with a little laugh. The girl wasn't afraid, that was certainly something new.

"Oh! Oh! I want to be the princess and wear really pretty dresses." Ruby beamed at the thought, and spent a moment imagining that her white gown belonged on a girl at a ball. She giggled. "Plus, everybody listens to princesses. I could tell you what to do and stuff!"

((When used as a formal title, Your Highness is capitalized--to show respect and humility. *history and grammar nerd*))
Ruby grinned at him, and arose to spread her skirt in a curtsey. "Sir Felix," she said in her best queen-like voice, tapping him on each shoulder with an imaginary scepter. She offered her hand to him, like a lady, and smiled with what she hoped was graciousness. "My brave knight."

"I am most honored, Your Highness."
This was very odd behavior for the young killer, odd indeed. He was relaxed, carefree, kind, even. Compared to his relations with other people, Felix didn't even seem like the same person. For whatever reason, this damaged girl, who didn't see reason to fear helped the laughter and smiles to reach his eyes.

Ruby laughed. "You should kiss my hand!" she said with a gleeful grin. "The knights always kiss the princess's hand." She paused a moment, as if considering, and shook her head. "Only that's gross. So don't."

"Really?" Ruby's eyes sparkled, though she couldn't tell by the laughter if he was joking or not. "Would you play hopscotch with me outside, then?" It had been quite a while since she'd played that game, and it was her favorite--it would be nice to play with someone other than shadows, as well, though on occasion their company was amiable enough.

Felix stood, hopping off of the cushion and holding a hand out to the girl. "Shall we?"

The young, blind girl sat near the fireplace, her tiny frame nearly engulfed by the fat cushions. Blonde ringlets hung down to the little girl's shoulders, and her cloudy blue eyes gazed forward.
It's hard to say that Morgan was exceptionally good at reading for her age, but it was true. The young Christian girl had mastered the Braille alphabet and "read" nearly three grade levels above what her own would be.
A book sat open in her lap, and while her clouded gaze looked dead ahead and saw nothing, her dainty fingers moved across the book.

((I love your mention of Braille. My brother is blind and reads fantastically. <3))
Raven entered the common room with a rare, unprompted smile on his face, and under his breath he was humming a gentle tune. Either he had just played a game with a patient, or he'd had a particularly good day--by the slight glitter of his eyes, it was almost definitely the former. He sat down on the couch next to the little blind girl, slowly and quietly so as not to startle her, but didn't spare her a glance as he said, "Hello, Morgan."

Her hand stopped, and Morgan frowned a little as she struggled to recognize the voice.
"Hello, Raven?" A little question at the end of her sentence.

"Hello, Raven?" A little question at the end of her sentence.
He nodded before realizing that she couldn't see the gesture. "That's me," Raven affirmed, fighting the urge to kick himself for his idiocy. "How do you know who I am, Morgan? You haven't seen--well, heard--me around before, have you?"

A little shake of her head, which caused her ringlets to fly. "I've heard others talking with you. And about you."
Raven chuckled and turned to her. Children. For some reason, he couldn't find it in him to want to try his games with Morgan--there was just something about a five-year-old's innocence that made him pause. So he said simply, with laughter in his voice, "Is that so? And what have you heard them say?"

Raven sighed and shook his head, his lips parting in an amused, rueful grin. "That's a problem I've got," he agreed. "But what about you? Are you scared of me, Morgan?" He was genuinely curious as to the answer. He hadn't been around anyone as young as the blind girl in so long--and he wondered if his skills at reading people would apply to a child as well.

"Hmmm. Do you think you should be?" Raven paused a moment to study her. If she'd been listening to--and more importantly, believing--the talk that she heard, then she would probably be a little less willing to talk to him. Still, you could never know. She had made him curious now, this innocent little blind child.
