My book is about cruising but what I loved to do when I got to a new port was try out the local cuisine. My favorite meal was eating lobster in a quaint French cafe by the bay in Saint Martin. The view of the harbor and the boats was incredible. What would be your favorite meal and where would you eat it?

Patrice Fitzgerald (patricefitz) | 5 comments Well, as I read your question I was thinking about lobster at the top of the Eiffel Tower... but since I read your answer I'll come up with something else! I did just have a delicious pizza in a little alley in Napoli on the Mediterranean cruise I returned from two weeks ago (not that I cruise that often, but you just caught me after a great one). Can we have a traveling meal? Of places I'd love to go? Maybe start in Japan (never been there -- yet) with shrimp shumai, then wander to... Australia? ... for lobster bisque. Do they have lobster there? On to Venice, where I have been, for a delicious pasta with pesto. Then finally, Bora Bora in Tahiti, where I want to get back to, for something coconutty and sweet. And definitely some tropical drink to go with it. By then I'll be so stuffed I'll have to retire in a hammock and watch the tropical sun go down.

I agree with you nothing beats a pizza in Italy. My husband is kind of a pizza nut and he hates a soggy pizza, but he loves the ones in Italy they are thin and crispy. They used to make them like that on the ships, Italian chefs. In Australia they have spiny lobster, one big tail no claws. I'll join you in that hammock. I just want everyone to know that Patrice is a great writer and funny which is the most important thing!

Patrice Fitzgerald (patricefitz) | 5 comments Thanks, Cara! I'm still chuckling about "Cruise Quarters," since I read it on my Kindle on the Celebrity Equinox just last month. I'm a long-term cruiser, but I learned things I didn't know. A fun read! I recommended it to the staff on the Equinox.

I was just reading about how they may kick the big cruisers out of Venice. I can see why, but that would be a serious economic loss to them, so I bet it won't happen.

It really would be because the Venice sail away is really fantastic and hotel rooms are really expensive there.

AekWichan | 1 comments My fantasy meal would include fresh seafood enjoyed at a quiet beach with a relaxed atmosphere. The place would be simple and calm, with the sound of the sea in the background. After the meal, I could spend some time on personal interests or online activities. For example, Melbet https://www.melbet-thailand.app in Thailand provides different options for digital entertainment. Having a good meal and then unwinding can make the day feel balanced and pleasant.
