Gwennie (blessedwannab) That sounds wonderful! I already followed her in a Q&A, but I'll definitely be popping over to check it out.

Leea I saw your review, i'm following that blog now. It was a great review and I can't wait to check out her blog post.

Themes you are interested to reading from her?
I'm not sure, i'll have to think about it.

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments That is awesome, Regina!

message 254: by Leea (new) - rated it 4 stars

Leea When do we want to read the next psycop book??

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I still haven't made it through Body and Soul, so you guys should just keep going. I'm still up for talking, for sure!

message 256: by Leea (new) - rated it 4 stars

Leea I want to wait for you :) I didn't realize you haven't read Body and Soul yet, I'm sure I'll be able to find something to read, lol!

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Did you read Secrets? Is that the one you are waiting on?

message 258: by Leea (new) - rated it 4 stars

Leea Yeah. Up next is Secrets (PsyCop, #4) by Jordan Castillo Price . I don't mind waiting, plus I don't know if Regina or kay are ready to move one yet. No worries!

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'm going to make a list of what I still need to read this month and see where I can slide it in. That way I can catch up and we can start Secrets soon.

message 260: by Regina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Regina (reginar) I just read Secrets in November, so I am rearing to talk about it! I likely will read my snippets and favorite parts though along with you but not the entire book. But this was my favorite.

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Mine too! Well... I love Camp Hell and GhosTV too, so I guess this was the one that really amped up the series.

message 262: by Regina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Regina (reginar) That is so good to hear. (read? lol)

message 263: by Leea (new) - rated it 4 stars

Leea Am I the only one who needs to read it? That's good to hear, that you liked Secrets so much.

I'm on a Kate Daniels Kick... I can't stop ;)

message 264: by Regina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Regina (reginar) There was no stopping me either. What a brilliant writing pair! I almost worship them!

message 265: by Regina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Regina (reginar) This is so cool fellow PsyCop fans! http://jordan-c-price.livejournal.com... -- Jordan draws out what the Cannery looks like.

message 266: by Leea (new) - rated it 4 stars

Leea Thanks! Do they describe the Cannery more in Secrets?

message 267: by Regina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Regina (reginar) Yes because (Leea you can click) (view spoiler)

message 268: by Kay (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments That's cool, Regina! I can't wait to read more about in Secrets!

message 269: by Regina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Regina (reginar) I am glad you all enjoyed it!

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I saw that post, I thought it was awesome how she laid it out.

message 271: by Regina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Regina (reginar) Here is a great interview with JCP What she says about setting, characters and world building I think I apply to PsyCop too.

I like how she says this:

In fiction I notice many stories are very “big” in a way that doesn’t work for me. (This is a new idea that’s just taken form in me over the past few weeks, so bear with me.) Squabbles become wars—and the wars don’t just kill people, they destroy the planet and all life in the universe. Characters aren’t just comfortable, they’re billionaires with nightclubs and yachts. The antagonist isn’t a guy with a chip on his shoulder, he’s the devil. For me, I think that “big” themes begin to lose me because characters engaging with those themes feel less and less like someone I can relate to. It feels fake. It feels contrived.

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Not to knock those books, because we all know how I love Barrons, lmao, but I can agree on a big level.

I think that's why I feel like it's so easy to relate to Vic. He's, like me... except Gay, lol. He's messy and a bit featherbrained. So many times he'll say something and I'll crack up because it will feel JUST like me. I'm sure others feel this way when they read him too. It's what happens when you write a realistic character.

message 273: by Regina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Regina (reginar) Me too Wendy, I love Barrons and big themed books too. Vic's insecurities are mine too. I often feel so under dressed and mussed compared to others at my firm -- I show up after the kids have handled me in the morning. Good point, even if we don't share characteristics a well-written character feels like an extension of the reader.

message 274: by Leea (new) - rated it 4 stars

Leea I could not agree more. I think a lot of people feel like they are always a step behind or can't make the grade compared to others. I feel that way all the time. That's where Vic is SO real to me. Plus the storyline is not these multi-billionaires saving the world. It's cops with special abilities to help fight crime, it's our world with just a small twist that's not too unbelievable.

message 275: by Leea (new) - rated it 4 stars

Leea Anyone want to read Secrets soon?

message 276: by Regina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Regina (reginar) I can do it whenever it is good for everyone. I am excited to move past Secrets (which is as far as I have read up to). So I would love to read it soon!

Gwennie (blessedwannab) You guys go ahead and go for it. I never made it to my reread of Body & Soul. I'm definitely up for chatting about it, so I'll be here offering my two cents.

message 278: by Leea (last edited Jan 30, 2012 08:16AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Leea There's just never enough time to read all the books you want. We can wait for you Wendy?

I wonder if Kay wanted to join us or if she moved ahead already?

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I don't want you guys to have to wait. I'm not sure when I'll be able to get to it, honestly. I'd rather you guys just enjoy it.

message 280: by Regina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Regina (reginar) Good question. Let's ask her. :)

message 281: by Kay (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Yes! I'll join you ladies! I'm ready for some more Vic & Jacob. When do you gals want to start?

message 282: by Leea (new) - rated it 4 stars

Leea I can start it next or wait a week? I just have a few Group read the beginning of Feb.

message 283: by Kay (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments That's fine with me. Whatever works. I don't have any other group reads.

message 284: by Leea (new) - rated it 4 stars

Leea So now or later? Hahaha! I'm very flexible :)

message 285: by Kay (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Let's have Regina pick =)

message 286: by Regina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Regina (reginar) Next week or two weeks work -- either way!

message 287: by Leea (new) - rated it 4 stars

Leea Sounds good... You may have to remind me :) Can't wait!

message 288: by Kay (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments yes, please remind me too!

message 289: by Regina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Regina (reginar) I feel sort of guilty but I need to read Camp Hell in a week or so -- any chance we can get up to it? I have been reviewing this series on my blog every week and I just reviewed Secrets (b/c I read it months ago) ..... any chance of reading Secrets now? If not, I may just jump ahead ( now worries!) and I will always be around to discuss since this series is a favorite of mine.

message 290: by Leea (new) - rated it 4 stars

Leea Hahaha!! I did get the email from 'Bad Ass reviews' with your review of Secrets. I thought, oh she read it already. lol!!

I don't mind reading it. Kay?

message 291: by Kay (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I can get to it sometime this weekend or Monday.

message 292: by Leea (new) - rated it 4 stars

Leea I'll start it after Dark Lover, so sometime this weekend.

message 293: by Regina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Regina (reginar) Well I actually read Secrets before we even started the group read -- reading Secrets made me want to share the Vic and Jacob love. :) So I read it awhile ago, but so funny the timing of me publishing that review and you getting it!

message 294: by Regina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Regina (reginar) I am writing up some questions for JCP for an interview for my blog -- anything you ladies want me to ask?

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I already asked her questions I had when she did a Q&A in the BDB group.

But, you could try to find out if she's started thinking about the next Psycop book, lmao. See if theres any update.

message 296: by Regina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Regina (reginar) She is working on one, but I will try and get details. :)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) She's working on Psycop?! Well thats more then I knew before. Last time she said she wasn't even working on it because she had so many other series.

message 298: by Regina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Regina (reginar) Yes. She has said that on her blog and in other interviews. :)

message 299: by Dee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Dee (austhokie) i'm a bit behind, i'm reading Body and Soul right now

message 300: by Regina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Regina (reginar) Dee, I am interested to see what you think. Body & Soul is an important book in the series, but for me it was one of the slowest in the series.
