That sounds wonderful! I already followed her in a Q&A, but I'll definitely be popping over to check it out.

I saw your review, i'm following that blog now. It was a great review and I can't wait to check out her blog post. Themes you are interested to reading from her?
I'm not sure, i'll have to think about it.
I still haven't made it through Body and Soul, so you guys should just keep going. I'm still up for talking, for sure!
I want to wait for you :) I didn't realize you haven't read Body and Soul yet, I'm sure I'll be able to find something to read, lol!
Yeah. Up next is
. I don't mind waiting, plus I don't know if Regina or kay are ready to move one yet. No worries!
I'm going to make a list of what I still need to read this month and see where I can slide it in. That way I can catch up and we can start Secrets soon.
I just read Secrets in November, so I am rearing to talk about it! I likely will read my snippets and favorite parts though along with you but not the entire book. But this was my favorite.
Mine too! Well... I love Camp Hell and GhosTV too, so I guess this was the one that really amped up the series.
Am I the only one who needs to read it? That's good to hear, that you liked Secrets so much. I'm on a Kate Daniels Kick... I can't stop ;)
This is so cool fellow PsyCop fans! http://jordan-c-price.livejournal.com... -- Jordan draws out what the Cannery looks like.
Here is a great interview with JCP What she says about setting, characters and world building I think I apply to PsyCop too. I like how she says this:
In fiction I notice many stories are very “big” in a way that doesn’t work for me. (This is a new idea that’s just taken form in me over the past few weeks, so bear with me.) Squabbles become wars—and the wars don’t just kill people, they destroy the planet and all life in the universe. Characters aren’t just comfortable, they’re billionaires with nightclubs and yachts. The antagonist isn’t a guy with a chip on his shoulder, he’s the devil. For me, I think that “big” themes begin to lose me because characters engaging with those themes feel less and less like someone I can relate to. It feels fake. It feels contrived.
Not to knock those books, because we all know how I love Barrons, lmao, but I can agree on a big level.I think that's why I feel like it's so easy to relate to Vic. He's, like me... except Gay, lol. He's messy and a bit featherbrained. So many times he'll say something and I'll crack up because it will feel JUST like me. I'm sure others feel this way when they read him too. It's what happens when you write a realistic character.
Me too Wendy, I love Barrons and big themed books too. Vic's insecurities are mine too. I often feel so under dressed and mussed compared to others at my firm -- I show up after the kids have handled me in the morning. Good point, even if we don't share characteristics a well-written character feels like an extension of the reader.
I could not agree more. I think a lot of people feel like they are always a step behind or can't make the grade compared to others. I feel that way all the time. That's where Vic is SO real to me. Plus the storyline is not these multi-billionaires saving the world. It's cops with special abilities to help fight crime, it's our world with just a small twist that's not too unbelievable.
I can do it whenever it is good for everyone. I am excited to move past Secrets (which is as far as I have read up to). So I would love to read it soon!
You guys go ahead and go for it. I never made it to my reread of Body & Soul. I'm definitely up for chatting about it, so I'll be here offering my two cents.
There's just never enough time to read all the books you want. We can wait for you Wendy?I wonder if Kay wanted to join us or if she moved ahead already?
I don't want you guys to have to wait. I'm not sure when I'll be able to get to it, honestly. I'd rather you guys just enjoy it.
I feel sort of guilty but I need to read Camp Hell in a week or so -- any chance we can get up to it? I have been reviewing this series on my blog every week and I just reviewed Secrets (b/c I read it months ago) ..... any chance of reading Secrets now? If not, I may just jump ahead ( now worries!) and I will always be around to discuss since this series is a favorite of mine.
Hahaha!! I did get the email from 'Bad Ass reviews' with your review of Secrets. I thought, oh she read it already. lol!! I don't mind reading it. Kay?
Well I actually read Secrets before we even started the group read -- reading Secrets made me want to share the Vic and Jacob love. :) So I read it awhile ago, but so funny the timing of me publishing that review and you getting it!
I am writing up some questions for JCP for an interview for my blog -- anything you ladies want me to ask?
I already asked her questions I had when she did a Q&A in the BDB group. But, you could try to find out if she's started thinking about the next Psycop book, lmao. See if theres any update.
She's working on Psycop?! Well thats more then I knew before. Last time she said she wasn't even working on it because she had so many other series.
