Hvae just finished reading 8th Confession - James Patterson & Maxine Paetro. Gonna carry on reading The Brutal Art - Jesse Kellerman (ML).
Heather, I had started 8th Confession last week at a friend's place. Because its her book I borrowed, I had to get it read before she comes to mine in 19 days. When kids are at school, I have free time to read, so thats what I get to do and when kids are in bed as well.
Heather and Fiona,I noticed both of you guys read a lot of books in a short amount of time! I wish I could do that!!! I have soooo many to get through.
I read 41 so far this year. I tend to read when kids are in bed or at school. I have a wonderful husband who cooks and cleans for me and looks after kids lol.
Alright fine....I'm on book #42 this year. I just smoke a lot so I get a lot of reading time in throughout the day. That, and I read in bed.
Yeah, that cooking and cleaning thing takes up the time I have when my son is sleeping. My husband helps, but I'm a bit obsessive about it (the cleaning part - I love the cooking part). I can't sit when I know there is something I have to do around the house. It's bad. I should get over it. ;)
I wasn't critcising ladies. I was just sayin thats why I can read loads. Glad to see you both doing well in ur reading.
Thats ok Jaime. Being an online reader, its hard to say something and not take offence at what that person says.
I am finding it hard to concerntrate on The Brutal Art - Jesse Kellerman. So I am trying to concerntrate and read the following few books Tethered - Amy McKinnon, Confessions of a Fallen Angel - Ronan O'Brien & The Reluctant Fundamentalist - Moshin Hamid
Right now I'm reading "First Darling of the Morning: Selected Memories of an Indian Childhood" by Thrity Umrigar.
I just started The Woman in Black A Ghost Story. It was a book recommended by Sarah Waters on her website. She's a favorite author of mine and has a new book coming out this month.
Last nite, I listened to Frankenstein - Mary Shelley (audio). Going to listen to Torn Apart: The Heartbreaking Story of a Childhood Lost - James Patterson & Hal Friedman (audio).
Jaime wrote: "I just started The Woman in Black A Ghost Story"It's a great book: a really old-fashioned spine-chiller, where most of the action goes on in your head.
When you've read it, there is also an excellent stage adaptation in London - well worth seeing if you get the changc.

Thanks, C F S R! Do you think the adaptation is something I can get in the US (I'm not sure what "state adaptation" means)?
Just finished listening to Torn Apart: The Heartbreaking Story of a Childhood Lost - James Patterson & Hal Friedman (audio). Now I am gonna read The Reluctant Fundamentalist - Moshin Hamid.
Jaime wroteDo you think the adaptation is something I can get in the US (I'm not sure what "state adaptation" means)?"Sorry, it's a typo - I meant "stage".
It's been on here for several years, but I don't know if it's ever been performed in the US.
I'm about 2/3rds through The Right Attitude to Rain by Alexander McCall Smith & really enjoying it.I tend to pick books at random and find out the story as I go along, this one was next on the every-growing pile :)
Just finished The Reluctant Fundamentalist - Mohsin Hamid (ML). Will now read The Boy in the Dress - David Walliams (ML)
So I finished Mansfield Park yesterday and I thought I would follow it up with a bit of lighter reading. So, I read The Tales of Beedle the Bard & The Road to Oz (the 5th Oz book). Now I am just starting in on Suite Francaise, cause I told Jenny I would read with everyone this month, and I always try to keep my promises. I'll let ya'll know how it goes!
Just finished The Boy in the Dress - David Walliams (ML). Will re-try Confessions of a Fallen Angel - Ronan O'Brien (ML)
Couldn't get into Confessions of a Fallen Angel - Ronan O'Brien (ML). So I am gonna try and read The Colour of Heaven - James Runcie (ML).
Right now I'm reading The Yellow-Lighted Bookshopand A Homemade Life Stories and Recipes from My Kitchen Table. They're both really good.
Grumble grumble. My mom accidentally grabbed Suite Francaise on the way out the door instead of The Zookeeper's Wife for her bookclub meeting. BOOOOOO....I am so far into it and soo into Suite Francaise that I am totally bummed right now.Starting a Wrinkle in Time while I am lacking my book..*sniff*
I put The Colour of Heaven - James Runcie on hold for a bit as I am gettin a copy for myself. So I decided to read The Calling - Inger Ash Wolfe for ML instead (a good gripping and thrilling book).
Have any of you ever read Georgette Heyer? I have to admit that when I was a youngster - my mom used to be an avid reader, but I opted for Jane Austen. But Arrow just released these beautiful books and I could not resist "Cousin Kate" - which I am thoroughly enjoying. Just wanted to know if I am alone in my new-found admiration!!!!
Will finish The Calling - Inger Ash Wolfe (ML) today and will either listen to Spilling The Beans - Clarissa Dickson Wright (Audio/ML) or read Tethered - Amy McKinon (ML).
Mary wrote: "Have any of you ever read Georgette Heyer? I have to admit that when I was a youngster - my mom used to be an avid reader, but I opted for Jane Austen. But Arrow just released these beautiful boo..."Hello Mary,
You are definitely not alone in enjoying Georgette Heyer. I too read "Cousin Kate" recently.
Over the years, I have probably read and reread almost all of her Regency novels. I find her mystery novels rather dull by contrast and so have not read many of these.
Yes, the novels are a good read. A really enjoyable relaxation after a stressful day.
Hi Mary, I haven't tried Georgette Heyer's mysteries but I have enjoyed many of her Regency novels. I am glad to hear they are being rereleased.
Finished The Calling - Inger Ash Wolfe (ML) today and will listen to Spilling The Beans - Clarissa Dickson Wright (Audio/ML)

I am soooo glad you confirmed that her novels are just fine! Exactly the kind of book to take on vacation. Smelling salts and all!!!!
Just finished Spilling The Beans - Clarissa Dickson Wright (ML/Audio). Will now read Tethered - Amy McKinon (ML)
Finished Suite Francaise & A Wrinkle in Time.Just now starting The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar And Six More by Roald Dahl.
Have tried to get into Tethered - Amy McKinnon (ML). So I will go on to my library books I have a couple here still. Will read The Five People you meet in Heaven - Mitch Albom and then will read Honeymoon - James Patterson & Howard Roughan.
I am handing back the library books today (as I am gettin 1 from Sainsbury and 1 in a swap). So I will read ML book The House at Midnight - Lucie Whitehouse (ML).
I have tried to read Amy MacKinnon's Tethered & The House at Midnight - Lucie Whitehouse. But can't get my head around them. I might read Y/A or kids books for a while to get back my reading mojo lol.
