What are you currently reading and why? (CLOSED)
I've just started Everything You Need to Survive the Apocalypse which, I didn't realise, has nothing to do with Apocalypses. But it's more appealing to me than the other books I'm reading at the moment!

It's not what I expected at all, but in the very best of ways!
I'm reading
1Q84. Just finished book 1 and I'm completely hooked. Someone saw me reading it and asked me to describe what it's about and I found it difficult to describe. It doesn't just fit one genre.Someone told me it was a Japanese version of 1984 - which is one reason I started to read it - but I personally can't see the connection.
It wasn't doing anything for me, Judy. But don't let that deter you. It may be a different experience for you.

LOL, Janice.
Die Trying
finished yesterday. Bad Luck And Trouble
started today. Audio books. Amazing how many books you can add to your yearly reading by listening to one while you get dressed & put on your makeup for work. I've been on a serious Lee Child kick lately.
I am finishing the last book of When Women Were Warriors by Catherine Wilson, and plan on starting Legend the White Dragon by Melanie Nilles because I love fantasy and I love dragons :)

Moderator note: In future posts, could you link the titles. Click on the add book/author link above the comment box and a search screen will pop up. It makes it easier for people to investigate the books you talk about. Thanks. :)

Oh I'm behind - I finished reading The Way We Fall last night, and now I'm reading (amongst others!) BadAss Zombie Road Trip and still persisting with Nocturnal (I've been reading this more than a week and still only 60% through!)

Nice review, Dem. I hope to read Eleni this year. Your review has moved it closer to the top of my pile. Thank you.
I'm on a roll. Just finished Breakfast with Buddha and Paper Towns (I'm on a serious audio book addiction to John Green. Listened to Will Grayson, Will Grayson and will listen to Looking for Alaska next. As for reading I'm starting The Future of Us next because I'm a big fan of Jay Asher Thirteen Reasons Why and Carolyn Mackler The Earth, My Butt and Other Big Round Things.

I have started 21 books, can't seem to finish them.
I'm still going with Antarctica on a Plate - it has gotten a little better now she is FINALLY in Antarctica!

I really enjoyed the trip across the country and the descriptions of where they stayed and what they ate. This was my book club book for last month and we met in our pajamas and ate breakfast and drank mimosas while we discussed the book.

I'm on a roll this week, finishing up books that I've been reading off and on for the past few weeks. The last one on the 'hit list' is The Evening Hour. Then I can finally get back to just reading one book at a time!

It is good but I've had to put it down several times, I think her husband is bi-polar (I read that in a review) and his actions remind me of the Mister when we first started dating as he is bi-polar and for the first year of out relationship was unmedicated...while our situations are different just the mannerisms she describes brings back old hurts. I highly recommend it though Pragya.

OMG! That's terrible. You better top it up with Janet Evanovich, Kimberly. :)

My local bookclub read for Feb and nominated by one of the members and the reason she said she choose it is because having read it herself some years ago she feels it will make a good discussion book.
I've started Diary of a Part-Time Ghost
by Vered Ehsani I like it so far :) and I think I may start Conversations With Myself
by Nelson Mandela I read his previous Autobiography and loved it so I think I'll love this one too...he's such an inspiration.
So I had about 7 books going and wasn't making significant progress anywhere. Finished two, most of the way through most of the others, zeroed in last couple days on two of them: Bad Luck And Trouble on audio and The Tin Roof Blowdown. Enjoying both but The Tin Roof Blowdown-- well, first of all it's set right after Katrina which is horrific. Second, I recently read a book several books farther in in this series, one in which the main character never once mentioned his daughter- who has always been a main focus. So for him to NEVER mention her makes me think something awful happened. Now I'm reading one of the in-between books I missed- The Tin Roof Blowdown-- and reading every page with my heart in my throat, because the daughter is a character in this one and a psychopath has met her.....
The Tin Roof sounds interesting, Jennifer. :)I have about 30 minutes left in my audiobook People of the Book and I will finish it on my way to town this morning. On the way home, I will start The Snowman which is for the Around the World challenge. I've been looking forward to this book for a long time!
Last night, I started one of my giveaway wins, The Cook. There is no punctuation within the sentences and I'm finding it very difficult to follow.
eg A couple people put up their hands and Terry said well here's a chicken dance you've probably never seen and he lifted the hatch and opened the gate and started chasing the chooks I mean birds around until one just sort of ran into his hands.
I don't think I'm going to read any further. It's too distracting. I keep thinking about the lack of punctuation.
Wow Janice. I see why that would be distracting. The first thing I noticed was continuous use of the word and lol GL on that one!
Robin wrote: "Wow Janice. I see why that would be distracting. The first thing I noticed was continuous use of the word and lol GL on that one!"AND your point is? LOL!
Here is a new one for me: I am going to be reading two books at one time! I thought I would be incapable of liking audiobooks, and actually I have found that I love them. Soooo, why not try reading two books at once. I am picking one that I can take with me everywhere and another that I will read at home with Vocatex. I have finally figured out how to use it, at least the magnification part, and I LOVE it. The audio part is still a challenge, but I'll learn that too with time. Hopefully. Anyhow, I figured I would read one book that was fiction and one that was not. So I chose Oliver SacksUncle Tungsten for the non-fiction and River in the Sea which is historical fiction, although based on the author's mother's life. That means both books are kind of biographies. The first is set in England, the second in Holland. I picked up RITS free a few days ago for my Kindle. My GR friend Misfit was so kind and told me about it being free at Amazon. I have been waiting to read UT for ages, and if I like this then I can read The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat & Other Clinical Tales as an audiobook! That is suppose to be really good too.
Picking books to read is almost as much fun as reading them. I NEVER have trouble finding books to read!
I have a feeling the latter will draw me more...... Will I end up reading one first?
I just finished Bloodroot. Here follows my review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
