Damon was not awesome. MAtt suddenly loves Elena again (...?)
The Phantom (when that had it conjured up in the room) starts taunting Elena about Katherine and says (and I quote!) "She became a monster. She started out as a sweet young girl," the phantom correcter her. "Damon and Stefan destroyed her." They're talking about Katherine and they make it sound like that Damon and Stefan made her. Uh Klause was the crazy guy who made her a "monster". Idiots.
forgot about that part, but thank you for adding it in!its like the ghostwritet was writing it and thinking about the show at the same time.
i failed to see how Elena didnt notice that Matt&Bon were getting closer, and was thinking 'when did this happen?'
i hope in Moonsong, mistakes like these are not made and they stick to the books only and not add in parts of the show that never happened in the book, aka SE drinking coffee and talking about him been a vamp after she found out. which actually happened in his room not a cafe
I think the Matt liking Elena again and Elena being upset about Matt and Bonnie was affects of Caleb's spell. Also, the Katherine thing: Katherine wasn't a good girl to begin with. She was evil as a person and a vampire. And no where in the books does it seem that Elena is jealous of her. I think that is coming from the show.
I totally agree that L.J. Smith doesn't need to mix the book with the show. The show is completely different!!
Rebecca wrote: "Meredith's name is Suarez and not Sulez?Steffie&Elena went over to a cafe and had coffee after she found out he was a vamp? um not thats the show, they talked in his room
they refer to Klaus as ..."
LJ didn't write the book, it was a ghost writer. Katherine was a sweet girl according to Stefan. According to the books, Damon and Stefan's ability to share her destroyed her. She faked her death so they could get along and then when it didn't she went nuts. It explains Elena's jealousy, in the book, as coming from when Klaus held her trapped in a dimension. Matt has always liked Elena, never got over her. That is why Shinichi used Matt to torture her.
Meridith recieved her stave from Isobel after they escaped. She grabbed it when Meridith dropped it and brought it back out.
The mistakes that I saw were: where was Saber and Talon? Time is different in the dark dimension but in this one, they ran the same. If Damon wasn't the crow, how was Elena communicating with him? If he couldn't remember who he was, how did he know what Elena was dreaming about, if he was not the crow? Was he communicating to her like Elena did Bonnie? If so, how because he didn't remember who he was when he was when the dreams first started.
Sometimes names can be mis printed, so I just skipped over that one. But I completely forgot about the terms "original" and "old ones". The restraunt part, I took as something that happend between the lines.
For the most part, I enoyed the story and I thought that Damon was great. I was hoping for a little more Bonnie and Matt affection though. I know that Matt had started feeling something for her, but the spell made him temporarily forget it.
I also forgot. I think it is possible for Stephan to take his car. They car pooled but it didn't necessarily say who rode with who. Meridith and Alaric were alone. Bonnie, Matt, and Celia were in another one, so it is possible that Stefan and Elena rode together.I believe that Caleb followed Elena. We were just supposed to read between the lines on that one.
yeah i know LJ got fired from writing the books, because she wanted a DE ending and the company wanted strictly SE. i think thats wrong since she used her own ideas to create her own story.i think thats why mistakes were made, because it wasnt LJ's writing.
hmmm i forgot about the time difference in the Dark Dimension, unless they state that time runs the same while they are in that place with the 7 (is it?) doors.
i also expected more of Caleb's story, as well as Elena&co actually visiting Caroline instead of thinking about how she is then forgetting about her.
I don't think that it is a strictly SE ending at this point. It seems like a triangle and she no longer has to hide how she feels from Stefan. I wonder if Caleb will come out more in the next one. Maybe Tyler returns.I don't know. I thought that it would be the same as the dark dimension. Maybe it is the same timing in the nether world, though. After everything Caroline did to them, I didn't expect them to think about her at all.
I knew that you knew. I don't personally think that it had to do with the DE ending. I think that it was centered around a lot more than that. I didn't see where she said that was the reason. It is just more of an assumption from everyone else.IMO. I know that she did not want to write the direction they wanted, but it was never said exactly what it was, just that SE and DB lovers would love the next book.
im sorry for getting over-defensive over the whole i know thing. i know LJ wanted to put in a ton of Bonnie and Bamon in the next book, which seemed like it was going to become her story and not Elena's. in some e-mails that she replied to she said the whole DE thing and what she had planned for the next book and stuff.i was hoping to see Caro in this book, so we could see how she acted and her still being pregnant (im assuming she still is after what LJ had planned for moonsong)
i hope Tyler returns, i want to know what happened to him after book4
no need to be sorry about being defensive, I signed the petition. I thought that there was a lot of damon and bonnie in this book.I didn't take it to be Bonnie's book. Isn't Elena one of the main characters? I took it that the publishers wanted to make it more Bamon, not LJ. DId I read that wrong.
oh, i had a thought! Remember when Bonnie said that her grandma said that she was going to die early? I wonder if she is going to end up with one of the vamp boys?Remember when Elena did the "who are you going to marry" spell and damon showed up? I wonder if either one of those are still relevant and if it means SE split? Maybe a BS and DE twist could come?
im glad Bonnie realised dying young is not romantic in this book. but yes, i can see what your thinking, if she becomes a vamp she is classed as dead, i think when the books finally finish (who knows when that might be!) im guessing Elena&co are still alive, even if any are vamps or they throw in another random supernatural reason, so i doubt if any of them die, it wont be for that long. same here, but even though i ship DE, im doubting that 'dumb supper' thing, with Damon he might have just wanted to be invited in, but i also dont because he might be her future 'husband' lol
well, he shouldn't have been able to come in because it was bonnie's house and no one else showed up during the "dumb supper" and bonnie's spells worked correctly most of the time, but with the new writer i doubt that it is relevant.if he hadn't waited for so long to say hi to elena, he would have had her. there was more than enough opportunity
re looking into the series..in dark reunion it does call them originals in at least two different spots, so it isn't just off of the movie series. vickie and klaus both mention it..stefan and crew call them the "old ones"
im currently reading Dark Reunion, so i will also hopefully spot this as well.ive forgotten some of the minor details, so i will probably be correcting myself, but since Damon&Steffie are over 500 years, wouldnt they have known more about Klaus that what Kat told them??
i am assuming that they didn't do homework on them..damon may know but he is very quiet on his ideas and plans..it never mentions what he does when he is away from the others. he seemed to know something when they were watching vickie's house and the storm rolled through. I think that is the reason that he volunteered to watch vickie when it was the other three's turn. He may not have known how to defeat him, yet, and still had homework to do. Stefan admitted to pretty much hiding in a hole and not doing much after Katherine's death. I got the feeling reading Fury, that if Katherine had came back and not tortured them and killed people, that he would have left Elena for her. But I didn't get that feeling from Damon. I think that he would have stuck by Elena, even if Katherine had been the same girl that she was 500 years ago. What do you think?it's in the 400 pages. also they did make a mistake though about stefan not being able to go in to get caleb...according to the first four, it only takes a human to invite them in(whether they live there or not)
i remember Steffie telling Elena that a human didnt directly have to say they are invited in, a nod could do it.even if he was hiding in a hole, he probably would have heard something im guessing, but im surprised he didnt do a Damon and try and find out about Klaus since he was a danger to Klaus, and that Elena wanted him to help.
i dont really want to give my point of view over who Steffie could be with or Damon&Elena, i have verrrryyy strong opinions on them, and to be honest, i dont like Steffie its more in the show than it is the book, and thats not over who Elena should be with. and i dont want to start any silly arguments over it.
dont you just hate it when your reading a book or watching a show, and you find out the answers when the people do?? i would prefer it if the charatcer knew something, but only hinted at it so your left guessing and come up with your own conclusions instead of them not knowing a thing until somebody outright tells them
I love mystery! I don't mind waiting. I love the reactions to the characters too. Stefan did say that to Elena but remember in Phantom, he couldn't get to Caleb because Caleb had to invite him in. I don't think that Stefan knew it was Klaus until he had that trance connection to Elena. Katherine had said that she killed Klaus in Fury. Damon knew though when Klaus attacked Vickie. And before that, I don't think that he thought that he was in danger from Klaus.I wouldn't ask you to give me your idea in an endgame relationship..there are way too many heated opinions on it. I believe the point was for a triangle and there can be some rude comments made to other people about their comments. I'm not about that. You can state your belief and the reasons that you believe but to attack someone for not believing or reading it the same way, is crazy.
I separate the characters of the books from the one in the show. Too many differences for me to make it the same, though I do enjoy both. :)
i wonder how Klaus made her believe he was dead?? i still think LJ should have made Klaus' 'death' a bit better than the unqiet spirits taking him away, and what happened to Tyler?? he cant be dead since everything that happened since Kat went to town never happened, but wouldnt that mean Damon&Steffie never came to FC since she put the ideas in their heads??
They only erased the thing that Klaus did. Katherine wasn't involved with the Klaus problems. I wondered about how Klaus faked his death, but I am guessing that it wouldn't have been very hard for him.I have a question for you..why do you think that Elena first believed that she belonged to Damon and not Stefan in Fury. Do you really believe that it was because she was completely confused? I think that it was because that was where her heart truly lied. But there are a lot of people that disagree and say that it was because she had more of his blood.
well she had more blood from Damon so to her he was the one she loved, she didnt think of Steffie as been hers until she had rested and got her mind back, thats always been the explanation thats been given to us, to me i think she wasnt herself, which is easy to understand as she had just died and was re-adjusting to being a vamp. i thought Elena wanted everything bad that had happened to be erased?? i guess when i finally survive the return series i will know, i just dont like those 3 books as much lol
i wonder if she knew then that with the bad stuff was removed then Damon&Steffie would be gone, or after the 10 year's from not writing she forgot, but put in that she wanted people to accept Steffie??
I think that it was just that it was whatever happened to her and whatever Klaus did, but it did go on to look like Supernaturals were not affected by it. Since Elena was human, I think they were able to change her situation. With Stefan comes Damon but Damon was dead and they couldn't change that. Everyone approving Stefan as her boyfriend was one of her requests, so it wouldn't have changed that part.
Here are some differences I noticed:In this book they referred to Mrs. Flowes as being in her 70's. But if I recall from the previous books Mrs Flowes was actually over 100. She talked about how she lived on the outskirts of town because she didnt want to get people to start talking about how old she really was.
Also, in the part where Elena says she'll walk home from the boarding house because it is just a few blocks away from her house. In previous books, the boarding house was far and on the outskirts of town, they talked about how wou would have to travel the road through the old wood to get to it.
And what about the part of the book where Elena talks about her time when she was captured and held hostage by Klaus. I dont recall that happening? I thought Caroline was the one that got captured by him?
I also hate that they changed Merediths last name. And the writing style is off. I can't picture Damon saying "bitches" like he did in this book during the fight with the Phantom.
@amber, you were right about Klaus being referred to as an 'Original' and 'Old one'.i think what Elena was talking about was when Klaus made things happen to her when Bon was in a trance and things.
we know it took Elena about 20-30 mins to get to the cemetary, and im pretty sure the boarding houe was that far away as well.
i remember reading that with Mrs.Flowers, it was stated she had been around for over 100 years, perhaps thats why they did the thing with Gloria in the show so that we could understand what Mrs.Flowers may have done in the books??
what elena was referring to was being held prisoner by klaus while she was a guardian and not passing over...though i think that may have been when Klaus made her have to connect to bonnie through trances and dreams.i always took to them thinking that she was in her seventies because she doesn't look like she is in her hundreds...i can imagine him saying that word simply because he cussed and raved at Shinichi, only I would have expected it in Italian and not English.
im currently reading Nightfall, so i will look out for any hints to her age in the next 2 books. im always on the look out for hints and plot holes (mainly the show lol) and i figured out the show timeline for S1-2¤tly 3 lol
finished re-reading Nightfall.Mrs.Flowers says her mother or should we say maMA died in 1901. we are in 1994 (bookwise) so she should be 93 if not older
probably older but she is a witch and she said something about losing the crown in 1944 or something like that in phantom so she must have still looked young.
yeah we saw on the show that a witch could make herself look younger since she will have been almost a hundred
"as Elena, now dressed in short" (pg114) and then "the girls squirmed out of jeans"(pg126) if this is for Merry,Bon&Celia why did it say 'the girls'?with Steffie's car, it says that him&Elena went to the car to meet at the boarding house, so im assuming he also took his car so ill cross that mistake off!
it also says Margaret was in the car when her parents died, i thought it was just Elena??
Robert also calls Margaret 'Meggie' is this just his nickname because it doesnt sound like a nickname for Margaret.
Things wrong in Phantom:EVERYTHING.
Why? Because L.J Smith did not write it. A ghostwriter did. This series is basically dead to me. If it's not L.J, why even bother? Waste of my time and my money.
Ezmirelda, that clearly shows you're not even interested in the books and only the fact that L.J Smith wrote them. i don't even mind that there is a ghost writer in her place because a lot of her ideas are still going into the book. It's not like someone else COMPLETELY took over the books, that would be an exaggeration!
oh and i personally thought Phantom was written well, only some mistakes made no need to go all crazy about it! Even writers make mistakes.

L. J. Smith didn't mix anything up it was the ghost writer

Its not L.J. doing the mixing...she got fired and now its a ghost writer.

Steffie&Elena went over to a cafe and had coffee after she found out he was a vamp? um not thats the show, they talked in his room
they refer to Klaus as an original, what happened to the 'old one' you stated in book 4?
didnt Meredith leave her fighting Stave in Isobel's
house when it was burning? how can she have it back?
Elena cannot have taken Steffie's car at hot springs when she left to change clothes, they only took Matt's&Meredith's. and how could Caleb have thought Steffies car was Elena's? he would have seen Elena's car the past month he was in Fells Church?
can anybody think of any other things that they messed up?
