I recommend Rooftops of Tehran. My review is here. The author grew up in Iran, and much of the book is taken from his own experience, making it very authentic. Set during the rule of the Shah, as Iran moves towards revolution, this is a beautiful coming-of-age and love story. It's a good choice for someone looking for a lighter read to go in the list.
