I think the tv show "vampire diaries" DOES copy twilight like seriously one human girl a bunch of werewolves and vampires fighting over her i meen COME ON!!
I havent even read the books..Just the T.V. show because I had no clue it was a book

(Having seen only bits and pieces of the show) I would have to say that it depends.
Are we talking the books?
Then yeah, if there are similarities then it could only be "twilight" copying "VD".
But if we talk about the TV-Show then the answer is yes, absolutely, that one is by and large living from and copying from "twilight" (there's probably a good deal of PG rated stealing from "True Blood" going on, too, but I couldn't say because I saw even less of that show).

I absolutely love Vampire Diaries books and series but I think twilight books were good movies I don't like so much but the vampire diaries I feel is more complex than twilight and in vampire diaries you can tell elena feels something for both brothers but in twilight bella is completely loyal to edward. Elena is way stronger than bella and she doesn't want to be a vampire and it's not just about her you learn about Matt, Bonnie, Jeremy, Alric, and Caroline.I dom't know about you guys but I am all for TEAM SALVATORE!!!!

Well I loved that part I'm sorry but I also loved it when Stefan called Elena but the love triangle is one of the reasons I love the show. But I don't want to get in a whole team stefan or damon arguement. It's just a show.
Well, ignoring the fact that has already been pointed out about TVD being published before Twilight...A couple of months ago I started watching the VD, right before the third season started, at first, I thought it was so Twilight... the same kinda setup, very cliched and all... I couldn't have been more wrong! The VD is a whole different thing, it is much more exciting and I have come to love the show! It is very addicting and worth the painful first episodes. And the season keeps getting better...
Anyways, I wouldn't read the books (The VD books) at least not soon. I would also point out that I read Twilight and liked it... so there.

sure, the show is similar but that is because they changed the books a lot. :) she didnt copy LJ Smith just because they both wrote vampire love stories.
