What Books Are You Listening To?
Latasha wrote: "I’ve heard good things about that one, Char. Do you like it so far?"I ended up sort of enjoying
. It was one weird book!I finished listening to
by Stephen King and I just was not all that impressed. I liked the beginning and I enjoyed the end, but it really bogged down a lot in the middle. I gave it 3/5 stars.I tried listening to
by John Connolly. NetGalley approved me for an ARC after I had already bought the hard copy and took it off my reading list. I was all booked up when they approved me, so I thought reading the audio might help me to work it into my schedule sooner. Unfortunately, I did not like the narrator at all and found my mind kept wandering. Now I'm listening to
which is narrated by the awesome Ray Porter.
Char wrote: "Now I'm listening to Deep Silence (Joe Ledger #10) by Jonathan Maberry which is narrated by the awesome Ray Porter.":O You're listening to deep silence? For meditation perhaps? ;)
Listening to 'In the Dream House' by Carmen Maria Machado and 'Made Things' by Adrian Tchaikovsky. :)
Currently, I am listening to a German audio version of Douglas Adams's The Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
Just finished Slimer by Harry Adam Knight. Really fun, though it did get a bit too cheesy towards the end.

Heehee! There was so much action there, there was no time to meditate. No time at all!
Philip wrote: "Just finished Slimer by Harry Adam Knight. Really fun, though it did get a bit too cheesy towards the end."No such thing as too cheesy! Not from a HAK. (I read that the two authors made up that name, tongue in cheek.)
Just finished Hell House by Richard Matheson. Brilliant narration by Ray Porter really elevates the experience.

Maybe reading a book with lots of action is a bit like meditation though. ;)

I generally don't care for action/military type stuff, but these books are just so damn good. Listening to Ray Porter is definitely calming for me. (Which is weird, right?)
Kasia wrote: "Had to look up Ray Porter on Audible and he has 353 audiobooks, holy molly!"Yep. Because he's AHHH-MAZING!
I finished listening to
which was excellent.I'm now trying a new series, narrated by Will Patton.
I finished up Me last night. Elton himself only narrated a brief portion in the beginning and a brief portion at the end, but I loved the book overall. It's everything you'd hope for in a rock n roll memoir-sex, drugs, music, addiction, diva tantrums, etc...It was also quite funny.
started Haggopian and Other Stories
today. this is me when Joshua Saxton starts whispering those eldritch words in my ear-
Just finished The Glass Hotel....I really enjoyed Station Eleven but this one didn't really do it for me. Writing was still good but never really caught my interest. Middle of the road.
The Outsider by Stephen King The Outsider. I got a weird pandemic reading and writing block, but them seem to have passed.https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Outsid...
I really wanted to listen to The Institute, but the narrator's voice annoyed me.
Alastor wrote: "Just started Clive Barkers Maximillan Bacchus and his Travelling Circus"I LOVE Clive Barker.
Trail of Lightning, by Rebecca Roanhorse. Not strictly horror, but some very creepy situations, & a mythology I'm unfamiliar with.
Ann wrote: "Trail of Lightning, by Rebecca Roanhorse. Not strictly horror, but some very creepy situations, & a mythology I'm unfamiliar with."I enjoyed that book but I read a dead tree version. How was the narrator?
Started Akata Witch
and am really enjoying the narration.

i'm enjoying the heck out of the narration. Cannot tell you whether or not the Dine words are being pronounced correctly, but the narrator has me believing that I'm hearing the voice of the main character -- which is all-important in this kind of action fantasy.
I listened to Don Winslow's latest Broken
and it was excellent, as were the narrators Ray Porter and Kaleo Griffith. Now I'm listening to Kathe Koja's
.
Ctgt wrote: "Started The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires"this book was everything i hoped for! i hope you love it too.
I bought The southern Book club’s guide to slaying vampires today, I purchased it on audible as well, so I can listen to it while I commute from work to my place....I might start it tonight or tomorrow, let see.
I finished Kathe Koja's The Cipher and it was AH-MAZING! Now, I'm listening to The Taint and Other Novellas by Brian Lumley.
I absolutely adored
, I hope you do too.
I started listening to
on Spotify...I did not know they had new and newish books to listen on it. I thought it was all classics.
Hey Latasha, I must agree! It started slow, but wow The story really picked up. My third sitting today and the story wraps you up!
Really liked The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires, narration was spot on. Started Magician: Apprentice for another club. Read the Kindle version a few years ago and enjoyed that version well enough.
Finished The Dark Horse which is part of the Longmire series....George Guidal really crushes the narration for this series.
Latasha wrote: "I loved The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires"I've heard such mixed reviews on this one. I keep hovering over the add to cart button, but haven't bought it yet.

Get it!!!
I'm listening to
. It's the second in The Expanse series. Once I'm done with the books, I hope to check out the TV series.

The show took me a bit to get into....I think it had been several years since I read the first book..but once I got my mind right it really took off. Love Amos.
