I liked This House is Haunted. Not that it was excessively original or anything, but I found it to be entertaining. I hope you do too.
Listening to the third in the Michael Drout 'A Way With Words' Modern Scholar lecture series, Understanding Grammar for Powerful Communication.
starting The Faithful
tomorrow. I've been working a couple 12 hour shifts a week plus Saturdays so I've been flying through stuff to listen to.
the faithful was ok but the passage was wayyyyy better if you are going that route. anyways i'll be starting The Anubis Gates soon. thank goodness these long shifts should be over next week.

I have been listening to the same damn book since August! It's good though, so I can't complain. In fact, now that I'm nearing the end, I'll be sorry to say goodbye to these characters.

Yes, it is. As soon as he started talking, I knew I was going to enjoy listening to him. I already put a hold on the next book. Only one other person is ahead of me, so I'm happy about that. King always writes the best characters. I know I'm going to miss them when I'm done too.

So, so true! I especially loved Patton's narration of Holly. I don't know if she's been introduced yet, so I won't say anything more. But I loved her and I still think about her all the time, even though I've been done with the trilogy for a little while now.
Reese wrote: "The Fireman by Joe Hill"I loved Kate Mulgrew's narration of NOS4A2. I hope you enjoy it!

Well...I've been busy with the audiobooks...Finished

last night. It's been a busy book listening week.
Wow! LOL I guess it WAS a busy week! I finally finished Red Seas Under Red Skies,
and it was very good. I love this narrator, Michael Page. Two came in for me at the library-I'm going to start with
written and narrated by Steve Martin.
I have had some issues with audiobooks lately. I start them and don't finish but as of right now I'm listening to Those Who Hunt the Night and let me tell you! I haven't looked to see which came first but this girl must love Anne Rice (as do I). it's not a bad thing but there is no way in the world u can read or listen to this book and not see the inspiration came from the vampire chronicles.** this was published in 1990*
Latasha wrote: "I have had some issues with audiobooks lately. I start them and don't finish but as of right now I'm listening to Those Who Hunt the Night and let me tell you! I haven't looked to see..."I read this waaay back in 1990, having read a favourable review of the book (probably by Dave Langford) in White Dwarf magazine. You're probably right, Latasha, that Hambly was inspired by Anne Rice's books since Interview with the Vampire came out 12 years before Those who Hunt the Night but the plot is quite different at least. Not sure why, but I never read any other books in the James Asher series even though I really liked this book.
I finished the Steve Martin book, (meh) and now I'm halfway through The Rising
. I think it's a lot of fun so far.
Still listening to Atlas Shrugged. It's 63+ hours in length. I've listened to about 3x the average length of an audiobook and I'm only a little of a 1/3rd completed.

Stephen King's The Stand (uncut version) was only 37+ hours...and It was 48+ hours, just to put the audiobook into perspective.
I can't stand Max. I meant the narrator of the audiobook not the new wife. The new wife, who is never named, spends too long being mousy and I feel sorry for her. Sorry for the confusion.
Bark's Book Nonsense wrote: "I can't stand Max. I meant the narrator of the audiobook not the new wife. The new wife, who is never named, spends too long being mousy and I feel sorry for her. Sorry for the confusion."I felt a little sorry for her too. Because Max is a twit.
Latasha wrote: "Oh no Bark's!! I'm going to start that some time this week."It's still a great gothic though and I'm very much enjoying it despite Max ;)
I had been listening to Understanding Grammar for Powerful Communication (I really enjoy Michael Drout's various lecture series), but I couldn't finish it in the allotted time, and couldn't renew it because there was a hold on it (was on vacation part of that time). So I turned it in to check out again later and picked up a memoir of sorts, I'm Not a Terrorist, But I've Played One On TV: Memoirs of a Middle Eastern Funny Man by comedian Maz Jobrani. Quite funny so far.

It is over 1100 pages long in print format - it's quite an undertaking but I loved the journey when I read it aged about 20.

I've read It two or three times. I'm looking forward to listening to it this time around.
The audio version of The Stand I have is VERY good. The version I listened to was done by Grover Gardner. Haven't listened to It yet...just read the hardcover 4-5 times. No, I didn't listen to it all in one shot. I used to be able to knock out 6-8 hours (sometime more) a day while driving when I was driving an 18-wheeler Over-the-Road...now with the local position, I don't get as much done...usually 4-5 hours a day, plus the 2 hours total for the commute to and from work. I've been working now on Atlas Shrugged for the past 6 days and have knocked out about 27 hours....

Listening to it would be interesting. Who' s the narrator?
My version of It has Steven Weber as Narrator...The Version of The Stand has Grover Gardner and Atlas Shrugged is done by Scott Brick.
I wasn't sure which book you were referring to...this "quote" system of GR isn't very enlightening...
I started Rebecca today. I'm on part 2 out of 15. first, I this narrator is awesome! Anna Massey. then miss fucking vanhopper. I hate that woman. I know and have had to deal with people like her. they poke at you, tearing open old wounds. they are noisy and oblivious. they are mean and cruel. agh! her whole talking bit hurt. but other than that I really, really like it so far. I have a feeling this will be a special book and I will want it in print for my library.

I finished The Adventures of Tom Stranger, Interdimensional Insurance Agent. Adam Baldwin is an excellent narrator, but the story was a bit silly for me.

I wasn't sure which..."
Thanks for the info, PSX! I meant It and should've edited the quote to clarify that. Sorry about the confusion.
I finished listening to The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo and I adored it. Amy Schumer is a very funny lady. I'm now listening to Neil Gaiman read The View from the Cheap Seats: Selected Nonfiction.
I'm also listening to Richard Matheson's The Box: Uncanny Stories.
I'm listening to The Running Man by Stephen King for the King buddy reads. It's not really my cup of tea at all but i hope I'll be surprised.
