Elizabeth Bingham (seekjustice117) | 32 comments I have an audible account and I like to listen to books while I commute, fold laundry, or when i'm in Court waiting for my client's turn (there's SO much waiting in court, which is NEVER on TV). Right now, I'm listening to a version of Dracula read by a full cast, including Tim Curry :)

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments I've been on a Librivox kick lately.
The Book of Werewolves
Uncle Remus and Brer Rabbit
Heroines of History / By John S. Jenkins
The Beautiful and Damned

the first 2 were good. heroines of history is ok, a bit outdated but oh my! that guy was a romantic! and I didn't finish the beautiful and damned because the characters were jerks.
I should be starting The Canterbury Tales
today. I remember reading some of it in school and enjoying it.

message 519: by Char (new)

Char | 17498 comments I finished The Art of Racing in the Rain and I thought it was wonderful. Yesterday I started Still Alice.

That is kind of weird. I've read it and wasn't crazy about it, David. I wonder if I would like listening to it better than reading it?

message 523: by Sean (new)

Sean (seandocherty) American Elsewhere American Elsewhere is what i am listening to. Think Lovecraft meets stepfordwives.

message 524: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments Speaks the Nightbird (Matthew Corbett, #1) by Robert McCammon it's ok but it sure is long!

message 525: by E. (new)

E. | 86 comments ...American Gods by Gaiman...

Often the narration lifts the story to a new level. The characters, accents, emotions are more vivid. The words can be said in just that certain way you may not get when reading it. I've listened to several books that I've rated higher probably because I listened to them. And a couple I might have rated lower because the narration sucked...

message 526: by Char (new)

Char | 17498 comments All of my audio library requests are coming in at the same time!
Dark Places is the one I'm listening to now.
A day later The Magicians came in and then last night The Wright Brothers cme in too!

I'm waiting for the stand group read. someone started a group read for every SK book in the order they were published. I plan on listening to the audio book then. I haven't seen the movie either so it will be all new to me!

E. | 86 comments Just spent a couple of hours at "Audible". There are 100 books for $5. Many are really good selections. I just blew $40 ( but I spent more than that at Applebee's the other day... Just sayin)
"14" is in the list. I may start with "Alas, Babylon"

message 538: by E. (new)

E. | 86 comments Just finished The Girl with All the Gifts which was really good on audio. I might not have liked it quite as much on paper, as the narration was really enjoyable and enhanced the story

message 539: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments I listened to it as well and liked it more than I thought I would.

message 540: by Andy (new)

Andy | 18 comments Off topic I know but they were filming the girl with all the gifts movie outside my office a couple of weeks ago. Suddenly Glenn Close walked by followed by Gemma Arterton in full army gear and we got to watch them film a couple of scenes. Needless to say I went and purchased the book straight after.

On topic the stand is a really good listen. I love the narrators voice.

I really am enjoying this though and although I have never read the book, listening to it seems to bring King's world to life.

I read the paperback way back in '79. I plan to listen to it some time this summer. Looking forward to it.
Right now I'm listening to "Suspect" by Robert Crais. Narrated by one of my favorite, MacLeod Andrews.
