My goal is to read daily for an hour, but I still have not found the time, so I tend to read on weekends--for hours. (I wish I had more time!) I was just wondering: How often you all read and for how long?

A woman after my own heart, Joanne......I love to curl up and read when it is raining. I read at least two hours a day, most often before going to bed.
Definitely varies. I can (hangs head in shame) not read for a day or two and then spend four or five hours one afternoon just reading with lots of cups of tea.
I try to read a good bit during the week, and the weekends, I find it depends on the book sometimes :)
It depends on the day but usually at least a few hours a day, more on the weekend. Usually I can squeeze in an hour on the way to and from work, and then an hour or two before bed. On weekends its whenever I get a spare chance to sit down. And it depends on which book I am reading, if I am absolutely engrossed in a book then I will read for hours a day. If I am struggling to enjoy the book, I tend to avoid reading in general.
I try to read everyday, but the times vary. It would be nice to set aside a certain time each day to read. Maybe my New Years resolution should be setting aside this necessary time :)
I read every day, about 1-3 hours. If I'm getting toward the end of a page-turner, I'll go 3 hours, but I usually just read 1-2 hrs. I read at the end of the day to help me wind down from the excitement of the day.
I read everyday. Usually for 1-4 hours but on a weekend I've been able to read most of the day and night.
Wow, most of you are consistent, unlike me :-)! Where do you find the time? Do you find time to read even if you've had a hectic/busy day?

I havent gone a night without reading in a long time...
I normally get something read every day, but it depends how much. Sometimes I don't get much, sometimes I might get a few hours.

Wow! That's determination."
It's pretty easy for me. Being a bachelor I have no one to interrupt me and in the evening there's really nothing on TV anyway, so I pretty much read during the three hours of primetime after dinner and before bed. And not to brag (much) I often go through a book a day since I pretty much read 100 pages and hour and most books I read average around 300 pages long. I'm up to 355 books so far this year. At my rate, I'm probably going to end up with an average of reading a book and a half a day.

Oh Joseph I wish I read that fast. I'm barely getting in a book a week. I read everyday but I have no idea for how much time each day. I usually read in between things or while waiting. Standing in line at the store, at long stop lights, waiting to pick someone up, etc. If I'm at the bank and I don't have a book the teller always asks me "Where's your book today?"
Tee27 wrote: "Wow, most of you are consistent, unlike me :-)! Where do you find the time? Do you find time to read even if you've had a hectic/busy day?"most definitely; even if it is a few pages. reading helps me decompress from a hectic workday :)
It really depends if the books is interesting or not. If it takes my breath away and it's a real page turner I'll try and read as much as I can during the day (when time allows it).But lately I've been going days without reading :(
I usually average 2-3 hours a day. I read in the afternoon/evening an hour or more while the children do their own homework or play together and at least an hour after 10 p.m. while my husband's watching TV. However, because I get interrupted a lot during my readings, I don't get more than 30-40 pages an hour which makes it about 70-100 pages a day. So, it takes me 3-4 days to get through an average paperback. In the weekends, unlike most people here, I read less because I have to participate to the family's out-and-abouts, games, activities, etc. If the book I'm reading is really good though, I'll stay up until very late and read up to 4-5 hours a day.
wow it can take me 6-10 hours to finish one paperback... it all depends on how much time I have and how interesting the book is to where I stay up to read it but I usually finish at least one book paperback, hard back, ebook whatever within a 24 hour period.
I probably average 2-3 hours a day; probably never less than an hour, sometimes 4 or 5 hours on weekends.

Wanna trade lives? I used to get a ton of reading in when I was a stay home housewife, for awhile, then I had a kid...bye bye long hours of reading! =( And my kid has impecable timing...the second I pick up a book she starts crying, OR! I will have two more pages to the end of the book and she'll start crying! UGH!
Now I get about an hour to 2 a day in, depending on if I can stay off the computer! LOL...
On work days I read at lunch and breaks, so about 1 1/2 hours. Then I always try to read at least a little before bed. So - most days I read at least 2 hours. On days I don't work it is harder to get the reading time in - mostly because I don't have those set "break" times and I spend more time on the computer. I still try to read at least an hour every day. I can usually read an average 300 page book in 2 days. I'm just 1 book away from my goal of 150 books this year! WHOO HOO!!
I used to spend hours upon hours every day reading. It was heaven. But my life has been in serious upheaval for about a decade so while I still read every day it's usually only for an hour or two.

Ugh, the computer takes up some of my reading time, too. I need more discipline :-).
I read daily, for about 1-2 hrs, while I travel to office, and back home; also, sometimes before going to bed.
I can read for several hours a day. If I'm ever not doing something, I pick up my book...ie, - on the way to my car, the coffee pot, the mailbox. I really am that bad.

(very dangerous on the treadmill)
that's the most beautiful---the most life changing--omg--i just--oh i want to hug a frog--seymour, it's happened darling--i'm going to spit it's--omg--tiffy, we got the word--the genesis of life is ours--thank you thank you--i'm gonna buy a snoopy pillow and dig out my old tiger beats--leif, justin -we can make the world safe for love--oh oh oh. I read before i read too. thank god i'm not the only one.
It really depends on how much time I have. In between college, a part time job, my own writing, and finding time to just relax and chat with friends, finding the time and the urge to read can be a challenge.Often, I'll read books in one sitting, but this past year I've read very little due to simply not having the time to do that. After getting a Kindle for Christmas, I've already read two books and have been changing my attitude; I don't read solely in one sitting now. That seems to have helped me read more - at least, so far.
I'm hoping that keeps up!
I like to read between classes if I have time, or before bed. If I don't have time to actually physically read I listen to books on tape while I'm on the treadmill.
I read daily... typically any time I have down time. Sometimes it's only a few minutes here or there other times it's for hours. Just really depends on my day and what I've got going on! Regardless, I do a lot of my reading before bed which isn't ideal but it works for me!
I read daily....three or four hours before bed, and then in bed to fall asleep, and then in the middle of the night when I wake up and can't fall asleep.
I read at night before I go to bed. I haven't been reading like I use to, because of the holidays. This year I plan on reading more and sticking to my daily schedule. Reading relaxes me. :)
Everyday before bed at least an hour or two--sometimes three or four. Then, depending on what my day is like, or how close I am to finishing a book, I will sit down in the middle of the day and read for an hour or two.
I try to read every night before I go to bed and as much as possible in between life. I don't have a set amount of time because life does get in the way. It could be many reasons or nothing. But, I usually read anywhere from a half hour to hour and one half plus with nieces.
I can get in anywhere from 2-5 hours on a work day because I usually read during prime time television...my husband watches shows I have no interest in. On the weekends we don't have my stepson, I can get in a whole lot more...but the days we do have him I have less time to read.
I don't have a set time that I read for. I have a page count goal though. So depending on the book I'll read for half an hour or several hours a day and I'll often give up sleep just so I can read my page count. =PI do my best to read every day. Most of the time I do but there are times when I can't even get ten minutes in.
I guess it depends on if I'm in a book mood, but if I am I can read 4 or 5 times a week, usually before going to sleep. Depending on the book and how tired I am it can be between 20 minutes and 4 hours. If I'm not feeling like reading, which happens when I get my mind set on other projects like art or school, I might not read for a week or longer.
I read about two or three hours a day, probably 150-200 pages a day. I'm kind of a slow reader, but it seems like i am fast because i read so much!
I don't really watch much television - catch the local news and the odd program here or there - so my evening entertainment is usually to read, so I generally read anywhere between two to four hours. Sometimes I'll vary it with knitting or breaking out my Nintendo DS, but most nights find me stretched out on the couch, cat in my lap, and Kindle in my hand.
