Susan I am not a big fan of m/m romance either. I actually tried one book and it was sooo not my thing. But Qhuinn and Blay.. they really grew on me and I cannot wait for them to be together.

Elizabeth Okay Maybe I missed it some where on the thread but does Layla get prego in the latest BDBH?

Yep. While I don't think that Layla is completely sure of it yet, Ward herself confirmed that Layla was pregnant.

I agree. I had the same feeling after reading Lover Reborn. I read that the next book is about Blay and Qhuin.

Octavia Jamie wrote: "I personaly think Layla and Xcor will make a more intersting story then Qhuinn and Layla. But I kinda like Xcor, even though he tried to kill Warth. (that bastered!!!)"

I agree.

Patrick As a straight male reader, I don't read these books for the "sexy guys" as someone else so eloquently put it.

That being said, I am a huge "Qhuay" fan. I love how the "unrequited love" storyline inverted itself. It began with Blay pining for Qhuinn until he realized it was never gonna happen. Then, when Blay finally let go, Qhuinn begins pining for Blay, completely mirroring Blay's early feelings. To me, this is so interesting.

I also dislike Layla for Qhuinn (and Layla in general) for the same reasons I love JM/Xhex and Qhuay. So far every relationship has been the same: Rough and tumble,kick-ass, bad boy with a good heart meets girl with "inner strength". Guy OBSESSES over girl and decides to take ownership of her. Girl loses all drive for independence once said guy shows her attention. Guy marks her as belonging to him (I'm sorry but I can't be the only reader that sees this as similar to a canine marking his territory: a decidedly un-sexy image)further reducing her will to be independent.

There are obviously some small variations but it is much the same. The JM/Xhex story and Qhuay story adds some much needed variation to that mix. Xhex is a "manly" woman, and Blay is a "womanly" man. Small switch, but enough to keep the story interesting. Layla is boring. She's the same as all the other girls. No different. In fact, I can't see how she's any different in personality from Cormia. Let's face it, JR Ward has never been the best at plotting. Her real strength is in her lovable characters. She needs to play to her strength and keep bringing new, interesting characters so the romances don't seem so cookie cutter.

Anyway... just my 2 cents.

I love the series but yup I agree. Oh and V and Jane also add variation.

I completely agree with you! And the mental image of the dog marking their scent is now embedded in my brain....but it makes me laugh.

Patrick Sorry for the bad mental image Natalie! Hope it doesn't pop up while you're reading now. Talk about bringing you out of the moment. LOL. :)

Yeah no Threesome hate Layla.
Hopefully Quinn turns out not to be baby daddy and is just helping Layla cause she a hoe and no one wants her.

Yup thanks for the image there Patrick! Of course as the fur mommy to 3 dogs and fur grandma to 1... I wish their ahem markings smelled as good as the BDB guys did.

Natalie @Sharon - totally agree with you! I have 2 furry boys of my own and it's not a nice smell.

I would love to see that too, I was warming to Xcor by the end of Tohr's book. Layla knows that Qhuinn loves Blay, but she knew what she was getting into by asking Q to help with her needing, that child will be adored no matter what. Afterall.. everyone is moving into that damn mansion anyway, so its not like she wont have the support. LOL

I love Lassiter, I think he's going to be making a cross over appearance in the Fallen Angels Saga - really hope so.

I'm all for Layla and Xcor, hope he and Throe join the BDB family.

message 114: by Mini (new) - rated it 4 stars

Mini I am late to the party. Just read where Blay and Quinn will have the next book. I am so tired of the dysfunction! Quinn has done nothing to deserve Blay. Saxton has been an absolute doll, which is why he can't get a HEA. He is too nice. The man has to be broken so "love" can reform him. And speaking of which, Xcor being marked for death is a point in his direction that he will get Layla. Her love will redeem him. I swear I love to hate the dysfunction of these books!

What does it say about us that when given two choice we root for the emotionally broken man over the nice one? I still have not forgiven Ward for what she did to Phury.

The man man couples do not bother other than the Butch and V one. V raped men. He had the choice to leave his fathers compound, but instead chose to rape other men. And he is still I appropriately pushing up on a completely heterosexual man. Who is a supposedly a "bonded male".

Sunshine Layla is just aaaaaagh boring......irritating,the typical case of, "Oh Im a pretty and shy girl, protect me!!"
U.U Quinn is gay. he LOVES Blay. End of discussion.
And if Layla and Quinn end it up together its because they couldn't find anything better.

PS. I really don't wanna read about the love triangle between Xcor, Layla and Throe.

Rebecca I have no objection to Ward's adding a secondary type story into her main stories about the bdb that has a m/m relaitonship building, but I do NOT read romance to read about same sex pairing so I will not be reading the next book. ( I MIGHT and I stress might check it out from the library IF I get completely board and have nothing else to read but that is highly unlikly.) This is not to disrespect anyone else, but I have no interest in that kind of romance, so Ward's appeal to me will end. I find that very sad because I really enjoyed this series up until this point.

message 117: by Heather (new)

Heather I hate that Layla is getting thrown under the bus so much. I like her character better then most of the other women. She's been growing from book to book. I want her to have a HEA not with Xcor at all maybe Throe but I want to read more on Muhrder and toss that mix in. We've not gotten much about him but I was drawn to him from page one where he was mentioned. At the risk of the Qhuay shippers wrath, really am not a Q/B fan, and if not for my wanting to find out what's going to happen outside of their getting together i doubt would get the book.

message 118: by Adoore (new) - rated it 1 star

Adoore Interesting thread I hope all the Qhuay fans get the book they have wanted so badly for so long as a fan that was seriously disappointed with the latest book because of how the world building was shattered in my eyes at least I wish you all get the book you have been waiting for. On the rumored comment of Mhurder becoming the new leader of the BDB that would mean that Tohr no longer is which puts my hopes up that maybe he gets honorably killed and meets up with his true shellan Wellsie and son in the Fade.

I will be visiting these threads to read about the world that I used to love and hope that it becomes once more what it used to be.

message 119: by Nyla (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nyla DarkMoon I would rather see Layla grow some balls and define her character by taking on this Xcor guy. Give him something to do with his time because it obvious that he has a boring life. And to be honest it would be kinda hot. Quinn w/Blay I think will improve Blay as a suitable character in this series. Maybe turn up his manliness a notch. I would also like to see Throe get this panties in a bunch over some chick too bring his ego down a bit and reconnect.
