Timothy Pilgrim (oldgeezer) | 140 comments My first book, 'RO' has just come out on Kindle.@77p in the U.K and about$1 in the 'States.
Originally published in 2003![was it really so long ago] This is the 'true' story of a British agent who was part of a U.N operation against the drug war lords in the Golden Triangle. It was back in the early 70's, she got caught by the 'bad guys'.
This is the story of the various attempts to rescue her and the squad detailed for the task, as well as the subsequent events.
I'll make no bones about it, this book was reissued on Kindle at a low price simply to get people to look at my writing, RO is 80,000 words, so it's not a short story. The timeing was to precede the launch of my new book 'The Unguarded Land' a sequel to 'The Day the Ravens Died' which is due out very soon, it's at the Publishers, and as soon as a minor issue with the cover is resolved it will be available for all you 'terrorist book lovers'.
So check out 'RO' if for no other reason than to pay tribute to one of the toughest, bravest people it has ever been my honour to know.
By the way, the kindle version on amazon is the blue cover, the paper back is the greener one. To find it type in as the system isn't keen on finding two lettered words.
All the best, oldgeezer.

From ancient times nukekubi have haunted the land of Japan. Living as men by day, these beasts slip their heads free of their flesh at night and go in search of human prey. These hapless souls are driven into a terrified madness that results in their death.
Ray McAndrues, a modern-day wizard, must neutralize a nukekubi that is feasting on the people of Toronto. He is aided by Cathy, a sorceress of numerous charms, and Toshiro and Kunio, two, Japanese, martial artists who have made hunting nukekubi their lives' work.
As the quest plays out, questions arise. Who is hunting who? How can you slay the beast that stalks the night without slaying the man who walks the day? What is the strange, millennia-old connection that binds Ray to the beast, and will it help or hinder the quest?

Ciji Ware | 16 comments My latest release (March 1) from Sourcebooks/Landmark is A LIGHT ON THE VERANDA, the stand-alone sequel to MIDNIGHT ON JULIA STREET...it can be found in the usual online stores and in bricks-and-mortar as well. As with JULIA STREET, VERANDA is a time-slip contemporary-historical novel and features a burnt-out classical harpist returning from New York to a family wedding in Natchez, Mississippi, only to be caught up in the tragedy of her namesake ancestress who lived in "The Town That Time Forgot" some 200 years earlier. One recent reviewer called it "A richly rewarding read brimming with local color, humor, sexual tension, and even a fun glimpse into the world of jazz bands...." and another said: "Ware's weaving of a contemporary story, along with history of years past, and the accuracy and detail she brings into the story are fascinating." Nell (nell829) | 6 comments Check out Easter Holiday, the latest short’n’sweet Cornish set story from Nell Dixon.
Cornish farmer, Noah Penwarren is sworn off city girls, especially deceitful ones. Posy Carmichael is a city girl through and through. When romantic sparks start to fly will Posy’s secret end their Easter romance before it’s even begun?
Published by http://www.astraeapress.com and available from all good e-tailers!
http://www.amazon.com/Easter-Holiday-...
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/easte...

Here’s an excerpt!
Posy flinched as she eased the car forward into the rut she’d been trying to avoid. Behind her, the tent poles and pegs clattered and rattled as she jolted along to the gap in the boundary. She placed the car in reverse and backed into the entrance of the field ready to turn around.
The rear wheels skidded on the muddy grass. Posy changed into first gear and hoped she would manage to get out ahead of the tractor she could hear approaching down the narrow track. To her dismay the wheels of the car spun around as she revved the engine, failing to gain any purchase on the soft ground.
“Noooooo.” She moaned and gave the accelerator a last desperate nudge. A fine spray of mud shot from the back of the car to coat the back bumper and window.
The blue nose of a tractor chugged into view and stopped in front of her. Posy sucked in a breath. The way her day was headed she’d probably get told off now for trespassing. She lowered the window as the driver of the tractor dismounted from his cab and came over to her.
“I take it you’re stuck?” The man bent so his head was level with her window.
“I was trying to turn round.” Posy had a glimpse of dark blue eyes and a rugged jaw before the owner of the tractor stood leaving her with a view of green farm overalls.
“I’ll pull you out with the tractor.” His voice sounded resigned as if he were used to tugging stranded motorists from the entrance to his fields every day of the week.
Posy opened the car door and went to get out. Her shoe sank in the soft earth, with a soft, squelching sound.
“Do you want me to help?” She wobbled on one leg trying to extricate her foot from the sticky gloop.
“You’re fine. Just stay in the car and put it in neutral with the handbrake off when I tell you.”
She slipped back into her seat and tried to scrape the mud from her shoe onto the car mat. The previously unsmiling lines of his mouth had now softened into the hint of a grin as he began to attach the rope to the front of her car. Clearly, he found her encounter with the mud amusing. If she hadn’t felt so mortified at being stupid enough to get both lost and stuck Posy might have considered her rescuer attractive.

Monica Miller (monicakoldykemiller) | 19 comments Hello everyone!

Threads of Betrayal is an historical romance set during the Civil War.

Blurb:

Reagan Burnsfield has no interest in finding himself a wife. But that's exactly what he must do when a lumber contract falls through and threatens the family business. Marrying the beautiful debutante Amanda Bruester for her dowry will solve his short term need as well as give him the wife of his dreams.

His courtship is hindered until they are arrested after stumbling upon bounty hunters hotly pursuing runaway slaves. In the ensuing scandal, Amanda chooses marriage over betraying her Aunt Gabriella's illegal activities in the Underground Railroad.

Expecting resentment for the forced marriage, Amanda's fears of a loveless union are laid to rest when Reagan's passions seem tempered with apparent affection and tender regard. Yet, despite being properly wed, another suitor, Derrick Banning, is determined to break apart their hasty marriage. He fancies it is he, not "that arrogant lumberman," who should be enjoying Amanda's wealth.

While snowed in at his lumber camp, Amanda discovers papers that imply Reagan's offer of marriage wasn't the sacrifice she thought it to be. Despite his assurances that he acted to protect her, Amanda begins to doubt everything about him.

To complicate matters, mysterious markings on Reagan's back seem to point to infidelity, further proving he's the untrustworthy knave Derrick claims him to be. When a prostitute's body is found in his office and Reagan is arrested for murder, Amanda flees to her aunt's house until the mystery can be solved.

Please visit my website: monicakoldykemiller.com for more information and reviews. I'd be thrilled to receive feedback. Threads of Betrayal is currently available on Amazon as a kindle book. Soon to be released in paperback.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

MODELS AND LOVERS
http://www.amazon.com/MODELS-AND-LOVE...
Also see my blog for more details www.sirjohn.us

Have you ever had love slip between your fingers? When was the last time you had a hero and heroine that you could really pulled for?

This is a love story blossoming inside the world of modeling. In spite of the glamor and intrigue of this high fashion world, love is really about one guy and one girl finding each other. But wait, there is one more condition--they have to admit it to each other.

Thomas (Tommy) Conseco, the frightfully delicious owner of one of the top modeling agencies in New York City, demands respect which he has so rightfully earned. Aspiring models from around the world would sacrifice anything to become one of Tommy’s “girls” fully knowing he can make them a legend, or send them home crying. Tommy has one rule he has followed without exception. He never gets personally involved with anyone in the modeling industry, and as far as sex with his models and employees is concerned, it’s strictly off limits. As a result, his heart is immune to even the most beautiful women in the world. This rule has served him well in business, but has left his personal life and bed cold and empty.

Enter Balarie Danson, the woman who is about to turn his carefully constructed world upside down. Balarie may not have the glamorous looks of a super model, but she’s bright, attractive and terrific at her job booking talent for the agency, especially the male models. Yielding to her charms, Tommy invites her to go on a business trip to Milan with more than business on his mind. When she turns him down, saying she’d prefer to concentrate all her energies in the New York market, Tommy assumes she’s refusing him and the possible chance at romance. The truth—Balarie is secretly terrified of flying and a long cross-Atlantic flight is more than she can face, despite her ambition in business and her secret attraction to her enigmatic boss. She’s heard the rumors, but the sparks flying between them are telling her Tommy’s looking for more than her talent as a booking agent. But Balarie is also looking for more than a one-night stand. So if Tommy intends to break his long-standing rule and seduce this woman into his bed, he’ll also have to let her into his heart because Balarie won’t settle for anything less than a love that lasts forever, and a hero who can help her conquer her fear of flying.

Dee | 6 comments Hi Everyone - My second novel, A Different Kind of Forever is just out and already has some great reviews here on Goodreads!

Here’s the blurb –

Michael Carlucci, the hot, young musical genius behind the successful rock band, NinetySeven, knows that he’s found the woman for him. Diane Matthews is not just beautiful and smart, she’s got an infectious passion for everything in her life, from her three daughters to her new play. For him, the search is over. He knows they belong together.

For Diane, it’s not as simple. She’s almost twenty years older than Michael. She’s not interested in a permanent relationship – she’s very happy with her life just the way it is, thank you very much. But she can’t deny the growing attraction between them – and it’s not just his touch that she craves. But it’s not until Michael is gone and an old love returns that she realizes just what he meant to her. He said he would love her forever. Can she trust that? Or should she find a safer route to happiness?

A Different Kind of Forever is the story about two complicated people finding – and trying to hold on – to love.

It's $.99 on Amazon and B&N until 5/1. For those who prefer, the paperback should be available thru Amazon by next week. Enjoy everyone!

Chaeya | 22 comments Hello, my debut sci-fi/fantasy romance novel "Srae Iss-Ka-Mala" is out. If you love quirky heroines who are a bit rough around the edges, you'll enjoy Srae.

Srae Iss-Ka-Mala (The Iss-Ka-Mala Chronicles, #1) by Chaeya

A WOMAN WITH BROKEN DREAMS...

All Claudia Bellows ever wanted to do with her life is make a name for herself in the music industry. However, years of hard work had left her with nothing but one big happily-never-after. Her only joy in life has been a recurring dream of a man sleeping inside a glass case. Just when she accepts that nothing would ever come from her love of music, or a man who lived only in her dreams, a chance meeting in the desert leads her to the planet Kir, where she's gifted with a new name, a magical harp, and a second chance to become a musical sensation. Most of all, she discovers that her sleeping prince is very real!

A WARRIOR WITH A BROKEN HEART...

Mendon Pelaea Yaaden, Supreme Commander of the Farenjannos, has been in stasis for over 600 Earth years. Betrayed, shamed, and executed for a crime he didn't commit, he had no idea his mentor, Varais Iss-Ka-Mala, had saved his life. After years locked inside a dark, dreamless void, it was the sweetest of voices that wakened him. He had finally found the promised one, his mentor's daughter, Srae. If the prophecy came true, not only would she restore peace to his war-ravaged planet, but to his aching heart as well.

Srae Iss-Ka-Mala is a heroine-driven adventure story that will take the reader from the pampered confines of the Shenda Jiks, Kir's sacred love temples, to the wilds of the Zacoica Forest, where the fierce rhalls roam. Using the power of music, Srae must bring together two feuding races, all the while avoiding capture by the Khadjiran Supreme Commander, Jleef Deniprar, who wants to kill her, and her beloved Supreme Commander of the Farenjannos, who only wants to protect her.

Please be advised that this story has strong romantic elements and there are instances of language and graphic sexual scenes, although not enough to constitute it as an erotic story.

Professor Joshua Kingston thought he'd found the perfect nanny for his son. But once Cassie Simmons stepped into his life, she turned it upside down! His son no longer played by the rules – and Cassie kept making up new ones. He would fire her – if he didn't find her so utterly enticing.

Cassie had a huge secret to hide, and she couldn't afford to lose her new job. But her handsome employer wasn't making things easy. All those silly rules. How was an eight-year-old boy supposed to have any fun? The professor definitely needed a lesson in laughter – and love!

“Even the divine have a dark side…”
Take a journey into a world where the forgotten reign as King and Queen. Explore a “reality” where the divine give meaning and substance to the concept of IMMORTALITY. These menacing tales feature beings of divinity from angels, demons, gods, goddesses, to personifications of divine principals. No other worldly being is safe. Florence Osmund | 180 comments My first novel, "The Coach House," was just released.

When Marie Marchetti finds out her salesman husband is actually associated with the mob in 1940s Chicago, she runs to Atchison, Kansas to start a new life. But her past catches up with her in unexpected and unimaginable ways, changing her outlook and life forever.

Marie has what appears to be the perfect life: she’s beautiful, smart, successful—and recently married to medical equipment salesman Richard, her equal in many aspects. But the idea of creating a perfect family halts abruptly shortly after their wedding. Mistrustful of her husband’s late night phone calls, cryptic receipts hidden in the basement, and the gun in his desk drawer, Marie’s suspicions of something amiss are confirmed when she inadvertently interrupts a meeting between Richard and his so-called business associates in their living room. Enraged, he causes her to fall down the basement steps, compelling Marie to run for her life.

Ending up in Atchison, Kansas, Marie sets up a new life for herself as she meets Karen Franklin, a woman who would become her lifelong best friend, and rents a coach house apartment behind a three-story Victorian home. But her attempts at a new life are fraught with the fear that Richard will show up at any time—and who knows what he’ll do? Ironically, it is the discovery of the identity of her real father and his ethnicity that unexpectedly changes her life forever.

Jaye Frances | 133 comments My new summer read "The Cruise - All That Glitters" was released on Amazon last week. It's a romantic comedy about a single guy who decides to take a different kind of vacation, and finds himself in more than a few unexpected situations while learning a few lessons about love along the way.

Here's a brief synopsis:

It’s love on the high seas for Dean, a thirty-something bachelor taking his first cruise, hoping for a shipboard romance. On the prowl for the elusive hard-body, he quickly becomes disillusioned, wondering if his expectation of a boatload of beautiful sea nymphs is something found only in travel brochures.

Until he meets Angel.

She is the girl of his dreams, brought to life as a bewitching goddess, ready to engage in every sensual delight. Quickly lured into submission by Angel’s seductive charms, Dean is ready to surrender his heart and soul to this provocative beauty.

Until he meets Marcie . . .

Rebecca Weinstein (rweinstein6) | 12 comments My latest work, Yokai is a teen paranormal romance. Figured I'd post it in the romance thread as well as YA. Released today, only on Amazon!

Sixteen-year-old Kit Maguire has never met her mother, made lasting friendships, or had a permanent home, and she's always known that she was a little different from others. When Kit and her father move to Kyoto, Japan, her father insists that this time will be better, but Kit is reluctant to give it a try. The kids in Kyoto seem to be the same as everywhere else: judging her for her looks before they get to know her. She figures it's just one more short stop that she won't make friends, so why bother?

With the appearance of her thought-to-be-dead mother, Kit yearns to find out more about her mom, their family, and why she has the ability to conjure green fire. When a girl named Yoriko insists on becoming friends and two of the hottest guys in school vie for her attention, things get complicated. Kit learns just who she is and what she's capable of, but with that knowledge comes the realization that she may never be able to have a relationship with Riku; as their clans are bitter enemies. Kit hopes that their love will bring the clans together and that she'll get everything she's ever wanted: family, friends, and a place to call home.

Jan Trent | 1 comments My debut novel "Complexity / Simplicity" is now available on amazon and others.

The tales that I weave revolve around the lives of ordinary people who let their guard down just long enough for their weaknesses and desires to grow into obsessions that ultimately take control. Greed, lust, curiosity, jealousy, and resentment lead the characters into situations and actions that are well beyond the realm of their norms. Adult themes and activitites are an integral part of the stories and lead to a number of surprises.

Infatuated from the moment he sees her, David is determined to meet Amy, and if the fates are willing, to spend the rest of his life with her. Terry Tyler (terrytyler) | 93 comments Hello! My third novel, The Other Side, is now on Amazon - I put it on yesterday. I've put it on here, but I can't work out how to put the cover on - can anyone help? It's on my photos, but not on the book! My other two were put on by a librarian before I joined the site.

Here's the Amazon blurb, followed by the link:

Would you make the same decision?

...and, if you could, would you go back and change all the mistakes you've ever made in the name of love?

"The Other Side" tells of four lives, all so different.

Glamorous Katya is certain she can ‘have it all’, but forgets that some people have long memories...
Cathy is trapped in a tedious marriage with the in-laws from hell – but why did the rock-chick marry Mr Pipe and Slippers?
Alexa fears that a ‘friend’ is trying to steal away her perfect life – everyone dismisses her fears as paranoia...
...while Sandie struggles with a drink problem, a life spiralling downwards – which came first, the drink or the problems?

Four very different stories – but they are all connected.

"The Other Side" travels backwards through time to unravel the decisions of the past and their influence on the present lives of everyone concerned - for better or for worse.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Other-Sid...

I hope you'll take a look - a new book looks so NAKED when you first put it on, doesn't it? No reviews, no ratings, no likes! It's like starting all over again - but it's exciting too.

Thanks!

Terry

Ezra Sidran (EzraTheTheoryOfGamescom) | 5 comments Hello, my first thriller is now out exclusively on Amazon. John Case (AKA John Case, "The Genesis Code," "The Eighth Day", etc. wrote:

“The Theory of Games” is an off-the-Scoville Scale debut thriller from sometime-Pentagon consultant and fulltime bluesman Ezra Sidran. By turns (and, often, all at once) funny, smart and scary, Sidran takes us on a broken-field run through the underbelly of the military-industrial complex - where even the wargames - especially the wargames - are played for keeps.

You can read the first chapter online at http://thetheoryofgames.com/

The story is about:
Jakob Grant, formerly a top-selling computer game designer, is now down on his luck and barely hanging on teaching at an exclusive private college. His best friend is a 135-pound Rottweiler-German Shepherd dog named Bill who has been implanted with the CardioTronic 413 pacemaker (the ‘Dick Cheney' model). When Jakob is fired from his teaching position he reluctantly accepts an unusual offer to work on a 3D military simulation; but there is something about the Major General that hired him that doesn’t appear to be right…

Joyce Nance | 21 comments Hello My first novel,"Escaping the Arroyo" is now out. It is based on a chilling true crime. The first chapter is on goodreads, otherwise you can "look inside" at Amazon.

On April 5, 1981, two college coeds were kidnapped from a residential street of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The next morning, the girls were found in a desolate mountain arroyo; one raped and murdered, the other savagely stabbed 33 times and left for dead. As fear engulfed the University of New Mexico's quiet campus, police had few clues to assist them in tracking down the vicious killer.
This book is based on the true story of what happened that night in the Sandia Mountains, a shockingly brutal crime that changed the city of Albuquerque forever. It is a gritty tale of unspeakable violence and the relentless search for justice, but it is also the story of a young woman's incredible will to live ... and her life-long struggle to escape the legacy of that deadly arroyo.

My second novella Affinity by LaVerne Clark a romantic fantasy is now available - woohoo!! :)

As a child, a routine x-ray awakened an abnormality in Jenna’s DNA giving her the ability to “call” creatures and take on their attributes. Nick Hawke, an off-duty policeman, witnesses part of the drama. Captivated by Jenna’s exotic beauty, he decides to investigate, not sure what to believe. Jenna puts his cynicism to the test—even as the attraction between them grows.

As word of her extraordinary rescue spreads, a dangerous man who will stop at nothing to control Jenna’s abilities draws near. With her feelings for Nick putting him in danger too, can Jenna risk everything to protect them both?

Thanks for reading :)

Armand Rosamilia (armandrosamilia) | 44 comments My latest is a 99 cent short story that just came out.

"Ancient" (A Keyport Cthulhu Tale)

Two short stories with a Lovecraftian slant... In "Ancient" a couple visits a home near the beach, both having different ideas of what to do while in Keyport... "Cthulhunicorn" is a tongue-in-cheek flash fiction piece written between author Armand Rosamilia and his daughter, Katelynn Rosamilia, combining two awesome things... Cthulhu and unicorns.

6,500 words, including Author Notes on the stories... a modern horror twist with a Lovecraft feel to it.
