Professor Joshua Kingston thought he'd found the perfect nanny for his son. But once Cassie Simmons stepped into his life, she turned it upside down! His son no longer played by the rules – and Cassie kept making up new ones. He would fire her – if he didn't find her so utterly enticing. Cassie had a huge secret to hide, and she couldn't afford to lose her new job. But her handsome employer wasn't making things easy. All those silly rules. How was an eight-year-old boy supposed to have any fun? The professor definitely needed a lesson in laughter – and love! * * * Many people say family is everything. There is nothing more beautiful than two people coming together for the sake of a child, finding love, and forming A Family Forever. I absolutely LOVED this book! From start to finish it kept me interested in the unfolding lives of the characters. The heroine is a strong self-efficient young woman who is trying to battle the demons of a turbulent childhood while raising her younger brother on her own. When she meets the professor and becomes his son's nanny, she's thrown into a situation that changes her life, leading her to fall in love with the totally adorable professor and his young son. Fantastic read!
Nanny and the Professor is a light and rather fluffy read that is ideal for filling a couple of hours with feel good romance.
Cassie is a bright and bubbly young woman who has a deep dark shameful secret. In her opinion. She has spent the last eight years bringing up her little brother, the last two of them alone, struggling to find work and keep the two of them off the streets.
Finally, through the help of a friend, she finds the ideal job, and incidentally the ideal man. Joshua is a smart professor but he has a real problem parenting his son since the death of his wife three years ago.
Cassie bursts into his life like a ray of sunlight, bringing new life to his home, improving his relationship with his son and most of all showing him what life and love could be like.
It all looks fair to a happy ending before the end of the first couple of chapters. The only problem is that Cassie's secret is just about the worst possible thing to have to reveal to the Professor. So she will have to fight her attraction and resist his charm.
I enjoyed this book which kept a smile on my face most of the way through. Donna Fasano didn't delve too deeply into the emotions, though Cassie's predicament towards the end will certainly move any reader. The sizzle never quite got off the ground which was fine for the type of book it is. It made for a pleasant and fun read.
Cassie dropped out of high school to care for a young brother. She has had many jobs and learned many skills. Then she gets a job for aProfessor to nanny his over protected, restricted son. There are ups and downs but romance emerges. It is a light, rather silly read. I would certainly not want it to be the only book with me on vacation.
This was an entertaining book but it didn't knock my socks off. Very middle of the road. That being said it is certainly worth a read or listen to. It was a fast read & enjoyable but I guess for me, something was missing.
The only thought that comes to my mind when I think about describing this book is corny...too corny. It was a cute and easy read, but just a little too corny.
My review contains spoilers and they're mostly my thoughts as I went with the book...
Nanny And The Professor is a sweet story between (yes) a Professor and the nanny for his 8 yrs. old son. This is my first Donna Fasano book and it won’t be my last. I liked the DF’s writing style a lot. This is the sort of book you read when you don’t want anything heavy and complex but something light on the plot-wise and comparably shorter.
Cassie has lived a troubled and difficult life. After her father was killed suddenly when she was 16, Cassie had to give up studies and other dreams of her life to take care of her depressed mother and an infant brother. Even though Cassie had self-studied, self-taught herself other things, taken courses with Red Cross and trained as a diving instructor, she never quite got over the fact that she never finished high school. This injured her self-esteem badly. Cassie tried to hide this fact and most of the times she could because she’s a smart and hard working girl. But most of the times, when her employers got the wind of her lack of a certificate, she’s fired from the job. Cassie has been forced to move from jobs to jobs, her only concern now is to take care of her 8 yrs. old brother, Eric. Since her mother passed away, Cassie and Eric have been staying (paying guest of sort) with this elderly woman, who is a family friend and stepped in to help, knowing that the siblings are alone in the world. We never get a glimpse of any extended family, so I guessed there probably wasn’t anyone to help them. So far, it has been good, until one day, Cassie is fired again. I honestly felt for her. Sometimes life can be a b*tch to someone who is totally undeserving of that b*tching. The old lady, who likes Cassie immensely, refers her to her widower nephew, Prof. Kingston, who is badly in need of a nanny at this very moment.
Cassie meets her charge, Andy, in quite a scene on the day of her interview, which includes a stranded kitty on a big tree. As she rescues the boy, understanding immediately who it was, Andy suddenly leaves her when the Professor comes out of the house. Poor Cassie is stranded on the tree now, since the professor was looking for the ladder she borrowed from the garage and was heading this way. I found it kinda funny, how the professor or Joshua was taken aback by the pretty looking legs sticking out of the tree. The first impression wasn’t what Cassie was hoping for and she was already kissing this job goodbye when the handsome professor steals her breath anyway. Then, Joshua totally surprises Cassie by taking her in immediately as he was in a hurry to leave for a guest lecture.
Regrettably, we don’t get to see as many of Joshua’s POVs as I would’ve liked throughout the book. He was already smitten with the new nanny for sure. Something about her struck him hard too. Cassie, on the other hand, hadn’t had the time to tell the professor that Eric would also have to move in with her. She takes Andy to meet Eric. Andy and Eric start off real fine and become best buds in a matter of seconds. Andy was alone so far, and having Eric around was a heaven sent for him.
In the course of the story we find all four of them bonding in a way or the other, going out together, playing games and so on. When there are some misunderstandings, Andy would request his father not to fire Cassie, proving that he loves his new nanny more than the ones any he’s had so far. The father-son scenes between Andy and Joshua were very charming to say the least. As Joshua begins loosening up a little, Cassie helps him with how to manage Andy. Andy was born premature and so, has a host of physical problems, including asthma. Joshua is an overprotective father, always scared of something might happening to his son. Nothing wrong with that but sometimes his overprotective attitude smothered Andy and this, Cassie understood well. Soon, Cassie begins dreaming of a family of her own around Joshua, Andy and Eric. She can’t help it but she’s still scared that a scholarly man like Joshua would never give her a second look if he comes to learn of her background. They both keep on blowing hot and cold towards each-other. More misunderstandings follow because of this.
I enjoyed the first half quite a lot but the second half of the story frustrated me to no end. I understood Cassie’s dilemma and vulnerability but her low self-esteem was really hard to get through in every freakin’ page. She was forever troubled with the issue of what to do and how to act where Joshua was concerned. Mostly, how to break her ‘big secret’ to Joshua. Trust me, I sympathized. She was a very nice girl and her concerns for Eric were heartwarming. But, she tried my patience. For Joshua’s part, he was very much into her. It’s Cassie who was the reluctant party and pushed him away more than once. I didn’t like it much. It kinda dragged on until Joshua had an outburst about Cassie’s low self-esteem and mucked up their already shaky relationship a bit more. *sigh*
Overall, it was a likable book, but I wish I had more glimpses of their relationship without so much confusion riddling it. I needed something more solid. And, there was no love scene. This fact bummed me, as the story kind of felt unfinished. I don’t know, maybe it’s because I’m mostly used to reading novels with love scenes... 3.75 stars, which, in my scale is a generally good read and recommended.
This copy of Nanny and the Professor was provided to me by the author herself in exchange of an honest review. I’d like to thank her for it.

Audio Book Review I’m going to make a confession: there is no better way to relax after a long day or week than with a more ‘traditional’ contemporary romance: knowing that there is a guaranteed happy ending, where the characters and the writer’s skill combine to give you that perfect escape. This is where Donna Fasano excels, creating stories that everyone can relate to, merging romantic tension and interest with family and work concerns, real life issues, conflicts and conversations that could (and may have) happened in your very own living room.
Nanny and the Professor is another winner that has everything that I enjoy in a romance: great characters that have just enough baggage and flaws to be interesting, realistic family issues, sexual tension, humor and even a secret. Putting voice to these elements and bringing the story alive is Laura Jennings. I’ve said it before: you can hear the smile in her voice, and she incorporates minor differences in tone, pitch and pacing to distinguish the characters, all of which enhance the words that she is reading.
There are no great surprises here – except one. If you think that you could never enjoy a more ‘traditional’ contemporary romance that is set in a town near you, this story will change your mind, and leave you smiling and relaxed.
I received an AudioBook version from the author for purpose of honest review for the Heard Word at I am, Indeed. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
By definition, the romance genre is going to be a feel good story. The heroine is going to make some mistakes. There will be misunderstandings. But in the end, it will work out. Are they realistic? As much as any book. To argue otherwise would be saying that romance never works out and couples never get together. The often bumpy ride reaching success gives hope to those who struggle with romance – from my observation, virtually everyone.
The specifics that make the story unique are the situation and, I think the most important part, the characters. In "Nanny and the Professor," we find a heroine who is a good person who has suffered for making some hard choices, although they were the right decisions to make. She’s a good person who we want to see turn things around. Joshua (the professor and hero) is also easy to like, despite some early missteps. Bad things do happen to good people, but I like to think that eventually karma catches up.

Aww! So sweet! Even too sweet at times, but still a very nice and emotional read. I liked Cassie, except for when she thought of stupid things like her being inferior to Joshua or other people only because she had to drop out of high school. Joshua was nice, though I can't say I loved him. I wanted to shout at him or slap him some times. But still, it was evident that he cared about Cassie. It was a little weird maybe that they immediately fell for each other so quickly. But, hey, I'm sure love at first sight can happen, after all. The kids were nice and cute I especially liked Andy. He's very smart for a 8 years old and even more than his father, at least about things like feelings. The story was nice and fast paced and very cute and made me emotional, one way or another. I liked that I could connect to the characters, especially Cassie, and feel their emotions. It was a nice read and a change from my latest reads these days (I was reading Paranormal Romance books). More like 3.5 stars.
This book was so fun and loving to read. I couldn't put it down. Donna's writing style is impeccable. She makes the characters in her story come to life. Professor Joshua was in desperate need to find another nanny for his young son. He didn't just want anyone as he was very over protective of his little guy. Cassie a sweet young woman who takes care of her young brother was in desperate need of a job herself and was told about the nanny position that the professor had open by her landlord. Upon going to the interview she found herself climbing a tree. Cassie is a very loving and caring mother type who would do anything for her brother and the professor's son. At times she wonders if she bit off more than she could chew because she starts to fall for the professor. I love Donna's books and can't wait to read more.
Nanny and the professor was a delightful read, just the kind of book you would want to curl up with at the end of a busy day. The writing was flawless and the characters in the book were well developed, people one could relate too. Cassie and Joshua romance was endearing to read, they didn’t always see eye to eye and that made for some witty sparring between the two of them. Cassie was resilient in the face of adversity, brings to mind that saying “ making lemonade off the lemons life throws at you”. If you are looking for an entertaining feel good romance look no further than the Nanny and the Professor.
This is the second novel I've read by this author, Donna Fasano, and I must say I enjoy her novels. Since I first read the fairy tale Cinderella, sweet romantic stories have always held a special place in my heart. I love the idea of falling in love and living happily ever after.
This was a fast paced book I read today on this cloudy afternoon. It was a delightful and charming book. I liked the fact that it was a light romance novel, boy mets girl, a few problems in between, problems solved, and they live happily ever after... Predictable, but most light romantic novels are, but they are fluffy and I don't have to a lot of thinking and digesting a lot of different characters trying to keep up with the story.
This is a book that I really enjoyed reading. It revolves around a professor who hires a young woman to be a nanny for his son who has many restrictions because of his many allergies. It is a live in position so Cassie must bring her young brother with her because she is his guardian. Rules get broken and the professor realizes that is good. Of course the nanny and the professor fall in love and the boys are super glad for now they would be step brothers and Eric would be Andrew's uncle. They thought that would be weird. It must be said that Cassie has had many obstacles in her young life and is determined to be the best at anything she has to do.
This book is pure mind candy. Cassie is obviously intimidated by the professor, but she is wise in ways the professor is not. Joshua does recognize this and falls head over heals in love with her but is unsure how to communicate his feelings to Cassie, because she is always building walls to protect herself. He needs Cassie to take a leap of faith to believe in her self worth and to trust him.
The story is heart warming and the situations are realistic, I was totally drawn in and enjoyed journey. I love romances!
I saw no editing problems and no formatting issues at all.
An English professor and a girl who did not finish high school. Now that was something that I was not expecting to happen. I loved the way that the story was written. Reading this story only validated the way that I am. Be open and willing to look at a person the way that you would want to be looked at. Don't be stereotypical and open your heart.
The main character, Cassie has self-esteem issues, and a healthy crush on the Professor! I loved the way she came out of her shell and they all came together as a family. I thought it was a really fun book. It might even give that someone in the same situation that nudge they need to take that GED or do something they didn't thay could do before.
Nanny and the professor was a fantastic read.. just the kind of book you would want to curl up with in bed or on a couch were you can relax and enjoy..Cassie and Joshua's romance is unconventional and that made for some Witty and funny sparring between them..If your looking for that feel good romance then this is the book for you.. I highly recommend this book..
While Cassie's low self-esteem in the second half of the book did irritate a little, this was still a very quick, enjoyable read. Would have rated it higher if there had been a love scene to give it some final spice and closure!
You asked doubt yourself when raiding a family member. You anyways wonder if your doing a good enough job. Then you become a nanny and fest if if you lose the job if they find out about your past. It's such a good book.
It was not the best nanny story I've read -Cassie was good -professor little pompass-Cassie took care of her younger brother and had insecurity about dropping out of high school .How would she and a professor learn to coexist ? Read to see how each one helped the other
I got this book as a freebie from Amazon. sometimes you get winners and sometimes you get losers. this book was a winner. I liked the characters and the story itself was good
