I should reset my project for January, 2011. I've read books from USA & England so far. I feel like such a poseur. Like a stupid American. Like someone who is afraid to read translated books. And I'm not! I have to prove it. Yet my next choice is from Ireland!! I guess I'm making a splash in the water before I head for the tsunami.

Barry, this sounds like one of the emails I get telling me to pay so I can get the check with my sweepstakes money!?!
Sorry Barry, I'm going to have to delete you (but only the dethroned prince persona). The true blue Barry is needed for 2012 is about to begin and the Around the World Journey also.
Judy, as challenge originator, is there a way to reset it to January 1? I tried deleting and starting again, to no avail. Since it starts nov 30 I will always be behind!
Either deleting my shelf and starting again just took a day or so to show up right, or someone fixed it for me. Hooray! Now I have some tea and a book calling my name!
I fixed the one on the front page of the group. It probably took a bit to adjust according to what you have on your shelf that is attached to the challenge.
the date has now been re-set for everyone! my progress of 3 books from my little head start has gone ... anyone know if it's possible to change back for individuals?
I don't think there is Tanya. The software is set up to look only for books between the start and stop dates. You could change the read date of those books to today's date, except that will throw off your other stats. If that doesn't matter to you, then that may be the solution. (You could put the actual date finished into your review or private note for your own edification.)
OK, I am not going to change the dates even though I read three books and now they are unaccounted for. The dates are mentioned in my personal list and I know I finished them, so well. Anyway, since I am counting on finishing 70 books for the challenge, it doesn't matter.
Daisy wrote: "Shoot. I read three books already and now they're gone too. Oh well."Daisy, if you were to edit the end date in your review to reflect a date in 2012, I'm pretty sure that it will show up as completed for goal. Have you tried that?
Daisy, if you were to edit the end date in your review to reflect a date in 2012, I'm pretty sure that it will..."I'll try that even though it's dishonest... Thanks, Mikki.

See message 88 for some ideas around this.
I've decided to leave the books I finished last year in last year so that everything's honest. I'll just know that I read three extra books--and that's certainly no harm done. But I'll have to jiggle up my list a bit then.
Daisy, when you refer to being honest is it because you are doing the GR 2012 book challenge as well as the 52? If so, I understand the dilemma.
Re the GR 2012 challenge and the honesty of date change--That's a good point. I'm not participating in that challenge. I keep a handwritten book journal which keeps my count of how many books I've read in a year. I also date when I started and finished them in my journal. I don't need GR's records. It's completely irrelevant to me what date GR has recorded for my reads. I just wanted an accurate count of the books I'm reading for this challenge. If I have to change the read dates to do so, that's fine with me. Dishonesty doesn't come into it in my case.
Mikki wrote: "Daisy, when you refer to being honest is it because you are doing the GR 2012 book challenge as well as the 52? If so, I understand the dilemma."Oh it's no big deal, I've decided. I'd read 3 books in November when this challenge started and when the new year began, my stats were re-set. It doesn't matter. All that matters is the reading and recommending.
