A lot of us have the same books on our TBR lists and there are many books from obscure countries that are difficult to find. Post here if this sounds like something you would be interested in doing. I know we are located all over the globe, but perhaps we can trade with members close to us. Thanks, Dee, for this great suggestion!

me ;) I have a few countries and just ordered a couple more off amazon that my library/ILL didn't have
yeah, its ok...you can only lend each book once, for two weeks only - and lending is only available if the publisher allows it...I think for me, something like only 30% of my books were loanable

I am still relatively new to the e-reader thing. I still do the majority of my reading with regular books (since I have soooooo many collecting dust in my house). Most of my Kindle downloads are of the free or next-to-free variety.
ahhh, yeah, there are 2 facets to the lending - what I described and library lendinglibrary lending is done through overdrive.org - if your library uses them - find the book you want to borrow, select the kindle version - which should take you to the amazon website where you download it - you have to do it via wi-fi, you can't use 3G - if you have an older kindle (like me) - you can side-load using the USB cable
I've heard that penguin is no longer going to be offering new releases at libraries (don't know many details on this) - if your local library doesn't offer it - there are some, like the philly free library - who let out of state residents join for a fee (I think it might be about $50)
Cobbcat has Overdrive and if you have a PINES card you might be able to get some. I haven't tried the second option, though!
