I only read 6 books for March.

All these books read makes me feel sad. I just don't have the time. :(

message 116: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) It's okay, Olivia! Every book read is another towards our goal. I only read 7 in March; nothing to feel sad about!

You only read 33??? That's great!!! LOL :D"

I know, 33 books seems like a lot. But according to the GR challenge tracker thing, I'm like 6 books behind on my yearly goal.

message 118: by Joyce (new)

Joyce (eternity21) I have read 13 books from Jan through March 2012. Yea, I don't read quickly at all.

Really? Wow. What's your year goal, though?

message 120: by Shay (new)

Shay | 862 comments My 2012 reading goal is 400 books. 80 of them chunky reads (500+ pages). I'm behind about 3-4 books on the chunky reads, too. Plus I have a bunch of other goals- read a certain amount of non-fiction, presidential biographies, etc.

message 121: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 1455 comments Shay I don't think that you have anything to worry about... You still do awesome no matter what you think :) Plus aren't you always wanting to read a little less :) Or maybe it was stuff with more substance. But at least you are enjoying them more.

400 is less for me. I think because of the chunky books and non-fiction. When I read mostly fluffy type books I read 700+ books a year. (That's only 2 a day, really)

message 123: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 1455 comments Haha I love that Shay! That is only 2 a day, really?!?!?!?!?! Haha I cannot do that!

Shay | 862 comments ★Meghan★ wrote: "Haha I love that Shay! That is only 2 a day, really?!?!?!?!?! Haha I cannot do that!"

The more you read, the faster you read. I am getting faster at reading non-fiction. But, I think I'm about as high has I can go on "light" fiction type books. I can read a 300-ish page book in 1 1/2 -2 hours of so- depending on font, typeface, etc. Say, 150-170 pages per hour.

I can't read a book in a few hours..it takes me longer..but when I got back to reading regular books again last week after my short break of just reading all graphic novels, I think I'm reading faster than before cause I read 4 books last week..

Ohh. Gotcha; well, I'm with Meghan: you have nothing to worry about!

Frankly, if I ever read a 300-pg book in 2 hours, everyone on GRs will know. :)

You're young though, Zakiya. If you keep reading, you'll probably find as you get older that you read faster. At this point, I've been reading adult fiction for about 35 years. Since I was 6 or 7- just before I turned 7 was when I read my first epic- Centennial by James A. Michener. He remains one of my favorite authors and I still have the copy of Centennial that I read 35 years ago.

message 128: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Wow! That's some serious dedication. Do you have a lot of freetime usually??

And yeah. That's one of my "when I'm older" goals.

message 129: by Shay (new)

Shay | 862 comments I get up about 2-4 hours before everyone else. So, between that and reading a little during the day and before bedtime is a good 3-5 hours of reading. A little more on the weekends, I guess, because I don't work a lot, if at all on the weekend. So, that's easily 2 or more books a day. I read a lot when I was in school because I pretty much read all day during school unless one of my teachers had work to do during class.

I read about 40 pages or so in a hour. I'm a slow reader i guess...

message 131: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 1455 comments I can get about 60 to 70 pages into an hour depending on how tired I am. I work a lot of stupid hours and supervise up to 60 people at a time so the weeks that I can get a lot of books read are really good weeks.

When I was in school I wouldn't really read a lot. This was mostly because I had a lot of classes where we had work to do. In both high school and college. But I was a bit of a music nerd in high school so there was no time to read in band or choir and I was always more of a math girl in high school. I was the one in high school that got Math Senior and Band Senior of the year. Yes I know. I was a dork :)

Yeah. My English teacher doesn't really give us a lot of work, and when she does I get it done pretty fast because it's super easy. Therefore, I usually read or work on homework during her class.

I'm not really sure how many pages I can get in an hour. On my Kindle, it depends on what I'm reading; the same goes for actual books, including whether the book is really interesting or not.

Meghan-- You weren't a dork at all!! Just outstanding! :D

I've read 13 books this April.

I'm very proud:
A. It's an improvement from 7.
B. 13 is my top all time books read in a month.
C. I've been very busy whilst reading all these books.

SO I hope I can read a few more next month!
