I read the book "Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus" to my youngest daughter and we had a great laugh.
Author: Barbara Park
69 Pages

For Book A I chose "Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business" I read it to my younger daughter.
Author: Barbara Park
68 Pages
For Book C I chose "Mommy Loves Me" I read it to my daughter. It was cute.
Author: Susie Garland
20 Pages
#15.10
I "auditioned" for a soldier (option #3) when I read The Soldier's Wife
I thought this book was very nostalgic, with the descriptions of daily life and clothing. Blanche's obsession with fashion and how smart she was to make the green jacket out of old curtains reminded me of Scarlet in “Gone With the Wind.” The way Vivienne let Millie and Simon go off and have adventures reminded me of my own childhood. We never had to give details about where we went or what we were doing when we ran out the door to play. Today I think most parents are more cautious about where their children are and who they are with. It did surprise me that Vivienne was so carefree about her daughter's whereabouts while the island was occupied by Germans.
I suppose Vivienne felt a sense of safety with the soldiers next door, even though they were enemies. This book reveals the human side of those who are thought to be enemies. I can understand how some of the Germans must have felt caught between loyalty to their country and disgust by the war crimes they saw around them. I'm sure Vivienne felt she couldn't be too strict on Blanche and allowed her to go to the parties with Germans because of her own secret involvement with Gunther.

Option #4: Snow Queen and the Snowflakes
Book: Winged Obsession Jessica Speart (320 pages)
Another one of Suzanne’s picks – excellent suggestion! A non-fiction book that details the efforts to apprehend a world-wide butterfly smuggler. Contains interesting information about butterflies, smuggling, and wildlife management, but is not so scientific that it becomes difficult to read.

One of the books Suzanne picked out for me when I was grounded because of my knee. An enjoyable easy read. The Bigtree alligator-wrestling dynasty is in decline, and Swamplandia!, their island home and gator-wrestling theme park, is swiftly being encroached upon by a sophisticated competitor called the World of Darkness. that Ava, a resourceful but terrified thirteen, struggles to keep the family business afloat in spite of numerous traumatic events.

Gee - you expect posts, books, task numbers .. . did you miss the above post that I'm the feigning flake?

15.7 WHAT’S INDIE NEXT? Indie List: December, 2011
The Wedding Quilt Jennifer Chiaverini (332 pages)
This is definitely a series to read in order, as each book has many references to earlier events.
As the wedding day of Sara McClure’s daughter, Caroline approaches, Sara’s thoughts are filled with memories of Elm Creek Manor, both past and present. As they prepare for the wedding, Sara and her long=time friends reminisce of Elm Creek Manor and all the women and their families who lived there in happiness and sorrow.

B. The Lady of Bolton Hill Elizabeth Camden (336 pages)
Elizabeth Camden’s debut book
This is a historical romance set in 1870's Baltimore where a woman with a cause falls in love with a man she hopes to save. Faith in God is woven throughout the novel, especially through Clara Endicott.
Her compassion for the underprivileged placed her in the midst of much conflict.
On the LifeWay blog, there is a Q & A with Elisabeth Camden about this debut book There is also a post describing the making of the cover of The Lady of Bolton Hill at Bethany House. Very interesting!

B. To Die For Sandra Byrd (415 pages)
This is the story of Anne Boleyn told through the eyes of her best friend and confidante, Meg Wyatt. However, Meg is much more than just a narrator. She is a complex and engaging character with her own intriguing story to tell. I found myself drawn to her from the first page.
The character of Meg Wyatt is one to be admired for her dedication to Anne Boleyn as a true and faithful friend. Her life is not an easy one with an abusive father, a vindictive brother and at the outset of the novel finds out that the man she loves has chosen the route of becoming a priest. Even in the midst of all of her trials, she becomes a character who is selfless until the very end, a tried and true friend.

B. China: Heavenly Man (Brother Yen) 368 pages
This was a fantastic book. It tells the story of Liu Zhenying (also known as Brother Yun), a Chinese missionary who began to spread the gospel at the age of 16, in the 1960's. He played a significant role in the house church movement of China. His autobiography tells the story of his inspiring devotion to Christ, his multiple imprisonments and experiences of abuse and torture, and the amazing miraculous ways he has seen God work in his life.
Yun's story shows what surrendering our lives to Christ looks like.
It shows the power of God when one lives selflessly, listens to Him, and trust Him in unbearable circumstances.

Angels Around the World Brad Steiger and Sherry Hanson Steiger (195 pages)
The authors share stories of encounters with angels throughout the world which transcend the boundaries of race and religion to guide, rescue and heal.

Dragon Tears (Dean Koontx) 432 pages
This is a twisted paranormal story of a cop named Harry Lyon who likes tradition and order. He encounters an enemy named TickTock who terrorize his victims and kill them in a brutal way. This extremely creative villain is stalking and playing games with the two main characters. Because of his immense and diverse abilities, it seems almost impossible to stop him. It is up to Harry and his partner to stop this madman from terrorizing new victims.
The dialog consisting of Elvis Presley's songs was great. The parts told from the dog’s perspective were hilarious!

A. The Winters in Bloom
B. Heavenly Man
I must have deleted the post when I deleted Dragon Tears - here it is.
15.3 Winter Wonderland
A. Winter in the title, set in winter, snowy winter scene, winter holiday.
The Winters in Bloom (Lisa Tucker) 336 pages
The book centers around a single day in the life of the Winter family The first chapter sets the rest of the book up. It's told from Michael’s point of view, in 3rd person, and really shows his life so far. He lives a life filled with worries and doubts and not the life a 5 year old should be having. The rest of the book jumps between the character's points of view and tells both the present and past events. It shows each of the character's connection to each other and gives the reason they act the way they do.
