RandomAnthony | 14536 comments My two oldest sons are getting itouches for Christmas (thanks, Black Friday online...) so I hope I know what you're talking about, Gretchen, in about six weeks.

smetchie | 4034 comments My daughter is getting one for Christmas, too RA. NOT FROM ME!!!! Her grandpa is giving it to her. I have mixed feelings about this.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Yes, I'm not sure who's getting the Itouches or whatever for my kids, Gretchen, it's funny you mention that. My mother in law usually kicks in money for their "big" present (last year was an Xbox) and I think she and my wife are still in negotiations on how that's going to work.

One of the main benefits of the Itouch will revolve around the fact my kids are always fighting over my mp3 player. So now they can listen to their own music. But I have no idea what else an Itouch does. Why do you have mixed feelings?

smetchie | 4034 comments They can do facetime (video chat) on them. That's why my dad is really getting it for her, I think. Also play games, take pictures and videos...I think you can get pretty much all the apps you could for an iphone except for the phone things. I have mixed feelings because my dad said she has to have an email in order to do the facetime and she's only seven!!! I'm not going to tell him no because she'll be thrilled and she's really quite the rule follower so I know she won't take advantage. But she's my baby!!! How can my baby have an email address???

Janice (jamasc) My son just went through that with my grandkids, smetchie. They are 12 and 9. He created email accounts through hotmail or yahoo just so that they can have their own accounts with iTunes. I'm getting them iTunes cards for Christmas so they can download game apps.

Cyril I got email addresses for my kids so they could have goodreads accounts. They don't use them or the computer, however, and I have the passwords.

smetchie | 4034 comments Really?!? No one knows if she needs an email address to do facetime on the touch!?!? Where are all the super cool apple users??

Brittomart Gretchen, yes, you do need an email address to do facetime on the iPod touch because the iPod has to be connected under an iTunes account. In order to make an iTunes account, you need an email address. But I don't think she has to have one, she can probably use yours or your husband's, or y'all can make one just for iTunes/apple stuff.
