Let's talk about my book...

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book I plan on getting it for my middle daughter (and myself lol) for her birthday in Feb. Can't wait to read it!!

How cool is that? Thanks, Kim! I hope the both of you enjoy it.

Scott Bury (scottbury) | 4 comments I really liked the absurdity and the way it poked fun at the idea of nobility and royalty.

Thanks, Scott! For me, the humorous parts of Dragonfriend were some of the most fun to write although I must admit that over the course of editing the book I did dial back on some of the more overt "gags." The first quarter or so of the book was thick with them and while I do enjoy a good gag now and then, these were a little too "self-aware" and got in the way of story and a smooth read.

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book I just ordered a copy today - I can't wait to read it!!! (I wonder if I can read it before I give it to middle daughter for her birthday LOL that would be wrong wouldn't it? LOL) I knew I should have ordered 2 copies right away!!

Thanks again, Kim! Hmmm, the ethics of book gifting...I don't suppose a quick peek would hurt, would it? ;c)

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book LOL I don't think it would ;-)

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book My daughter finally started reading Dragonfriend. I will read it when she's done.

She says it reminds her of Dungeons and Dragons because they're on a quest and it makes her want to jump in and join LOL

Thanks for the update, Kim. I found myself wishing I could join Leonard's quest, too! Hopefully, that's a good sign she'll enjoy the rest of the book.

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book I take it as a good sign too :-)

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book Alex finished it last night, she said she loved it! And she's anxious for the next book to come out. When can she expect it?

She liked the writing style and liked the way you portrayed the dragons. She liked the tears (don't want to give anything away with details), she liked that while they were destructive they were still "nice". She may do a review later :-)

I'm so pleased to hear that your daughter liked the book. She's smack dab in the middle of what I consider to be my ideal reader audience so it means a lot to me. Thanks for sharing.

I'm shooting to get the sequel out before the end of this year, but it might not be until early 2013 due to work considerations. I'll let everyone know as soon as I do. Thanks again!

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book Awesome :-)

she really did enjoy it - she was excited when she talked about it :-)

Very nice! Well, needless to say, I would be be honored should she ever decide to grace Dragonfriend with a review. Thanks, again!

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book Roger, my Alex finally got around to writing her review. You'll see it on goodreads but I wanted to paste it in here as well. :-)

-----------

I was surprised by this book. I had expected it to be childish or 'trying too hard' funny. I was greatly mistaken. The way this book was written is hard to describe. There was imagery and description, but nothing felt unnecessary.
I was drawn in, no, dragged into this story within sentences. The writing is exquisitely done. I feel as if I am one of the new heroes partaking in this maiden quest. I wished to grab a sword and start running.
I loved how the dragons were perceived. This version of the literary dragon was a combination of many others. These dragons were great beasts that raided farms, burned villages, hunted towns people, and had ferocious natures. However, they were intelligent and wise. These dragons had a monarchy and followed their queen. They seemed to have partly human minds; the way they loved each other and cared for their young. Their magical elements were not lost, though. I loved the idea of creating dragonfriends, and the sad treasure of gems as teardrops. These are the dragons that I can see flying our skies.
The characters were well made. The characters were dynamic; they changed throughout the story. Each person gaining skills and confidence. The love affair between the heroine and protagonist was tastefully done. The laws of magic and beasts were clever and seemed ancient; as if I could stumble upon a stone giant and not be afraid. There was nothing ridiculous or cheesey in this story. I impatiently await the next chapt

Wow, Kim! How cool is that?! Please give my thanks to your Alex for a very thoughtful and generous review. I am very grateful and pleased that she liked the book and took the time to share her thoughts. Awesome! Roger

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book Yes, I was really happy with her review. I love reading her writing though, and I know I'm a bit biased lol. But I will tell you she did this completely on her own, I had absolutely zero input. She didn't even tell me she'd done it I just happened to see it when I signed onto GR LOL

I really can't wait to read the book now!!

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book I finally read this. Roger, it's wonderful!!! I can't wait for the next book.

I'm a little late in responding, sorry about that. I blame addled author syndrome. Thanks so much for sharing your kind endorsement, Kim. I'm quite pleased you liked Dragonfriend. Getting close on the sequel -- hope to be done with my first edit by the end of the month, then it's off to beta readers!

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book yayyy can't wait!!

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book My son is now reading Dragonfriend and is loving it :-) (he'll be 12 on Saturday).

Multiple copies? (Author cocks his head as if hearing a dog whistle!) ;) I do so appreciate these updates, Kim. Thanks and please let your son know that I'm glad he liked the book, too!

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book LOL yes multiples - and I'm going to have to get a second copy of this one for my son as well - he wants his own copy ;-)

Sure thing and just so you know I tell others about your book too - not just my own children :-D

Hello, Dragonfriends!

Two things. First, my latest book, GHOST STAR is currently (and for the next 28 days) involved in a Kindle Scout campaign for publication on Amazon. I'm asking for your support and would be grateful if you popped over to the Kindle Scout site and nominated my book. Here's the link:

https://kindlescout.amazon.com/p/K0R7...

Second, I wanted to give you a quick update on the Dragonfriend series. I'm well over halfway through the first draft of the third book. The title is "Elvenking," and I'm hoping to have it out before the end of this year. Thank you for your patience.

Thank you!
Roger

A couple of updates for my dragonfriends...

First, Elvenking, the third book in the LTG series, was recently published (11/2020). I'm quite pleased with how the book turned out. There are tons of twists and turns, lots of fun new characters and returning favorites, and some despicable baddies. Leonard, Glennys, and Hubert have their hands full in this one!

Second, the audiobook edition of Dragonfriend is almost finished and will come out later this month (03/2021). Yay! I'll drop the link when it goes live.

As always, I'd love to get your feedback on any of my books. Thanks for your support and let me know if you have any questions!

Roger
