Adriana For the next three months December til March one of the reading challenges is to read as much Sci-fi books as you can! Set up a goal to help you out and discuss and review books when you are finished. Post recommendations too!

Adriana I don't really know what books I want to read. Dystopian is under Sci-Fi so I'll say:

The Death Cure (Maze Runner, #3) by James Dashner The Roar by Emma Clayton

What would you guys recommend?

message 3: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I didn't know steampunk was considered Sci-Fi either.

Fever Crumb (The Hunger City Chronicles Prequel, #1) by Philip Reeve

message 4: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Also
Airborn (Matt Cruse, #1) by Kenneth Oppel

Im going to try to read:

Pure (Pure, #1) by Julianna Baggott The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner The Scorch Trials (Maze Runner, #2) by James Dashner The Death Cure (Maze Runner, #3) by James Dashner Inside Out (Insider, #1) by Maria V. Snyder Outside In (Insider, #2) by Maria V. Snyder The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer

message 6: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Oh yeah. I have to read the whole Maze Runner trilogy again before I read the last one.

Viv (a_pocky_box) | 156 comments Mod
I haven't read it at all. Its good that I am reading it now because I won't have to wait a year for the next one to come out :)

message 8: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I know someone who does that on purpose. They wait til all the books are out so they don't have to be in anticipation. Who does that!? I rather suffer.

message 9: by Viv (new)

Viv (a_pocky_box) | 156 comments Mod
I think I would rather suffer too. I burned through the Hunger Games books in 4 days and I was left with that feeling of "it ending too quickly"

message 10: by Adriana (last edited Dec 06, 2011 08:01PM) (new)

Adriana I've done that before too. It's better to drag it out. You can get just more excited and it will be just better I guess. I don't know why. Wow. Hunger Games in 4 days!

Viv (a_pocky_box) | 156 comments Mod
Haha yeah I was running on little sleep but it was so worth it

message 12: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Yep!

message 13: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Read
Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie
which is considered sci-fi.
Put what I thought about it on the Matched discussion thread.

Read:
Steel by Carrie Vaughn

message 15: by Adriana (new)

Adriana How was it?

message 16: by Viv (new)

Viv (a_pocky_box) | 156 comments Mod
It was a really easy read. The main character to me is really relate-able. And the action scenes are really detailed. The book also shows that the author really knows her information when it comes to fencing.

message 17: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Oh wow. I didn't look at the summary earlier and now that I see it I kind of want to read it. So randomly cool. There aren't really that many pirate books out there other than the obvious ones.

message 18: by Viv (new)

Viv (a_pocky_box) | 156 comments Mod
That's very true. I'm hoping I find some more out there.

message 19: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I only know about Peter and the Starcatchers but...

message 20: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I just got Steel from my library today <3

message 21: by Viv (new)

Viv (a_pocky_box) | 156 comments Mod
Yay! Tell me what you think of it after reading it

Viv (a_pocky_box) | 156 comments Mod
Finished reading:
Steel by Carrie Vaughn The Compound by S.A. Bodeen

message 23: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Where do you find these books! :D CCompund sounds interesting.

I read
The Roar by Emma Clayton

message 24: by Viv (new)

Viv (a_pocky_box) | 156 comments Mod
I found some of them in my recommendation page. But the compound has a really crazy story line. And it was a first time in a while that I read a book with a male protagonist.

message 25: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I don't think I ever think about whether my protagonist is male or female. It must have been awhile!

message 26: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Unearthly (Unearthly #1) by Cynthia Hand

This is supposed to be considered a Sci-fi book. It's supernatural... I never expected reading a book about angels but I really liked it. Love Triangle <3

message 27: by Viv (new)

Viv (a_pocky_box) | 156 comments Mod
oooh it looks really interesting and there is a love triangle. I love love triangles.

message 28: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I loved it! One of the guys and her relationship is so cute! And yes. Love triangles are the best!!

message 29: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1) by Becca Fitzpatrick
Another angel book. I didn't read it till now because of the whole angel thing but Unearthly proved me wrong. It was sooo long! It was really worth the read and now I know why people have been raving about it. I don't have to wait that long to read the whole series because the last one is supposed to be coming out soon. *evil grin* suckers!

message 30: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Read The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner again because it's awesomeness and Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1) by Rachel Hawkins a witch book XD

I also read Stardust by Neil Gaiman .

message 31: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Oh yeah. reading me some Steel right now. So far so good. (:

message 32: by Viv (new)

Viv (a_pocky_box) | 156 comments Mod
Tell me how you like it when you're done with the book. :D

message 33: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Steel was pretty good. I kind of disliked the whole her feeling pressure thing and wanting to get away. And then she saw that she could have it much worse. It seemed fake, unnatural the way it was put in there. I did like it though. It was so weird reading a pirate book. It was a nice fun read.

message 34: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Read The Scorch Trials and FINALLY read The Death cure. Wasn't as satisfying as I hoped but still pretty good.

I can see that too. I guess I liked the book because I can relate to her feeling under pressure in the competitive sports world.

I still need to read the first book. There is a wait at my library for the last book. I'm going to try to get all three at the same time so I can lock myself up in my room and read it all in one go :)

message 37: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Did the same thing with the last two. (:

Viv (a_pocky_box) | 156 comments Mod
Read:
Steel by Carrie Vaughn The Compound by S.A. Bodeen Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1) by Rachel Hawkins Demonglass (Hex Hall, #2) by Rachel Hawkins The Extraordinary Secrets of April, May, & June by Robin Benway

message 39: by Adriana (new)

Adriana oh yeah! Demonglass (Hex Hall, #2) by Rachel Hawkins fantasticness!!!

message 40: by Viv (new)

Viv (a_pocky_box) | 156 comments Mod
YES! you've finished it. So what did you think?

message 41: by Adriana (new)

Adriana loved it. better than the first. i still can't decide!!! i have so many scenarios in my head with what's going to happen next. What if the Eye is there with her mother!?

message 42: by Viv (new)

Viv (a_pocky_box) | 156 comments Mod
(view spoiler)

message 43: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Just read the summary. I don't know how you got that about her mother??? But I think (view spoiler)

message 44: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I still don't understand why she would be one of them. Her mother isn't going to kill her own daughter... I'm confusing myself.

message 45: by Viv (new)

Viv (a_pocky_box) | 156 comments Mod
It's okay, I was only trying to guess what was going to happen. But you scenario sounds way more interesting.

message 46: by Adriana (new)

Adriana It's probably way off though (:
