mstan | 868 comments Congrats Katrina!!

I rolled a 2 and I think I will do Miss Pym Disposes. I have other Josephine Tey books listed for the winter challenge so I just have to do this task first to ensure she preserves her 'newness'.

I have an Asian name and I rolled a 6 so you'd think it would be easy for me but I am having a hard time thinking of a name I want to take on...

That's one I would have found today when I went through my k shelves again. I didn't remember that it was a t first name, but I did look at it longingly yesterday wishing it was a b first name for me!

chucklesthescot Bloody great, 4 and 2. So I have to find a new to me author with the initials O-L AND read a new to me author of a mystery book, one of the genres I truly hate and wouldn't WANT to find a new author for. No thanks, skipping this task.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3041 comments I agree.

message 56: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) For option 1, could I use Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie for either Sweet-n-Sour soup or Chicken Pot Pie soup. Our local ZOUP! has a Chicken Pot Pie soup.

I never heard of sour cherry soup, but I will take your word for it. :) Those are both good for me.

Your authors initials have to be opposite your own. So you have to use B.K.

And if you absolutely do not find anyone else we can talk about maiden or middle. :)

A quote from p. 16 (found on the bookcover) reads "sometimes all my years of painting - the hours in figure studio at art shcool with the tired, bored models; the last years in New York when the sense of the 'business' of art was so wearying - sometimes they all fall away and I'm struck by the strangeness of waiting in an upstairs room for a woman I know slightly, if at all, who arrives, undresses, poses before me for two or three hours, then dresses and leaves..." Sounds as if he is a painter.

Thanks, Lori. I have been trying to fit this one in for a couple of challenges.

I rolled a soup and a boy scout will either of these these work?

#1 A Winter Haunting for Winter melon soup (chinese soup; it was on the wiki list and I don't think it appeals to the eye one bit)

#5 The Painted Darkness for "painting"

chucklesthescot Felina wrote: "I think you are welcome to skip tasks without posting a negative comment about it."

I'm making an observation that if you roll the wrong numbers on this task that it is too restrictive for people. It's not the task OPTIONS I have issue with as I could happily do it if I could choose any 2 options from the list even with the 'new to you' addition. It is the dice element I am constantly frustrated with. I'm trying to point out that there is a 'dice roll lottery' with a lot of tasks this season.

So I am going to go for City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare as long as the half naked man is ok?

If I like this then I am going to read City of Ashesas I've always loved the first name Cassie which is short for Cassandra. Is shortening the name allowed?

Congratulations on little grandbaby!

I'm ready to be a grandma, but I'll have to wait until my daughter and her husband are ready to be parents.

Re: birthdays: a friend of mine from high school had a birthday of Dec. 20; what they did is celebrate her half-birthday on June 20, so that she could have a day all to herself. My cousin's birthday is Dec. 26th, she always claimed not to care that her birthday is always the day after Christmas. (and I believe her .... I think .... )
