Tanecia (books101) | 3773 comments Mod
I think my pen name would probably be....

Michele Reeds or T.C. Reeds

Michele is my middle name and i like "Reeds" because when you say it all together it sounds like "Michele Reads" lol get it? "Reeds" "reads" lol what do you guys think?

Anastasia | 548 comments cool, i don't know what mine would be, maybe Zoe Marie.

message 6: by Athanasios (new)

Athanasios (athanos) I haven't created a pen name, but am simply using only my first, yet people think it's a nom du plume anyway. I'm of Greek descent and though everyone calls me Tom my driver's license and all official papers have me with my given Athanasios.

It has become fitting for a horror writer, being that the literal translation is undying or undead. I still have to set people straight on that.

message 10: by Christine (new)

Christine O'Neill (drfranny) | 3 comments I think I would use my first name and my husbands' last name (I never changed my last name after I married).

So it would be "Christine Nadeau" Not too original I guess!

I like "Midnight Rose!" And "Michelle Reads" is a cute play on words!

That's really cute! I love the last name it gives the full name some spunk lol.

message 12: by Pamela (new)

Pamela aka Scottieluvr (scottieluvr) I would use "PJ Knotts" - my first and middle name initials with my mothers maiden name.

message 13: by Tana (new)

Tana (tana_t) | 3459 comments Mod
that a good pen name, it reminds me of a private investigators name.

I does, huh? I always wanted to be PI too. *LOL*

Jojobean Ariel J. Russo

I love the little mermaid princess, That is my all time favorite disney movie so thats what Ariel Stands for. The J if the first initial of my name. Russo is my last name and I absolutely love it so it would have to go somewhere in the pen name.

message 16: by NayNay (new)

NayNay Willow Laine

I really don't care for my married name POPE, oh but I love my husband, lol. My maiden name is too french, and so is my name. I always liked the name Willow and my youngest sons middle name is Lane.

Tim (timoerl) I.M.A. Wesome

message 18: by Juliana (new)

Juliana (julezrussell) Hmmm...this is hard! Help?

message 19: by saga (new)

saga (iyagi) I think my pen name would be Haley or Sage Lane. If it got to be Sage, it would be because it is very similar to my real name.

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) | 374 comments I dunno - I love my name- Alana Lee Rock. Although, I always liked one of my parent's jokes about what they were considering naming me- (maiden name was Hyde)

Jacqueline Hyde... get it? Like Jeckle'n Hyde? Better than their other joke- Tanya Hyde

message 21: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Arnold (nahteeraisamanthaarnold) I think mine would be Schuyler Rae Hawthorne. ^_^ I just love Hawthorne trees for some weird reason. Schuyler is my favorite character from the Blue Bloods series. And Rae because it's like sun rays plus it reminds me of Do Rae Me Fa So La Te Do. :P

I love that! You put a lot of thought into it :)

message 23: by Maria (new)

Maria Violante (mariaviolante) I anguished about the idea of using a pen name for *forever*. I mean, I had read so much about how hard it is to establish an author base and then how alienating changing your name is -- and on the flip side, I read testimonials from authors that had changed their pen name and seen a sudden, huge jump in sales.

My last name, "Violante", is kind of ethnic-y. All of the giant best-sellers are supposed to have easy, three syllable names (2+1 or 1+2) that sound sufficiently generic (like Stephen King.)

Eventually, though, I just said "screw it." If using my actual ethnic-y name would net me less readers, then I was just going to roll with it. I hope to write so many books that I need ten different names, just so readers don't get sick of seeing my name over and over and over!

Shay (icylilies) | 49 comments I've been trying to come up with a pen name for the past five months! So far I have La-shay Val (my middle name and then my dad middle name), but part of me wants to have a unisex name.

I thought of my initials, but it sounds too much like R.L Stein, and that bothers me.

Then I was trying to come up with an anagram for my pen name, but i have way too many consonants including two n's and two k's

message 25: by Queenie (new)

Queenie (magicalb1tchqueenie) I've always wondered if I should use a pen name or just throw myself out there on my work and say "THIS IS WHAT I'VE DONE" but I'm still undecided.

I mean, with the internet and all..people will find you no matter how hard you try to hide.

BUT if I had to make a pen name...I'd want to have a more interesting last name.. Mine is very boring and only 4 letters while my first name is gorgeous and 10 letters.. I feel like a different last name would balance it better.

Alexandrea Addler maybe?

message 26: by Yzabel (new)

Yzabel Ginsberg (yzabelginsberg) | 247 comments I use "Yzabel Ginsberg" as a pen name (though I haven't published anything officially yet, only a few stories online). It's just my first name spelled differently, and a surname starting with the same letter than mine. I could have used my real name, but I'm keeping this one in case I decide to go into academics & research someday.

I think Alexandria needs a short last name for flair. Like Alexandria Beck. You want people to be able to rember your name, and having two A names might be confusing.

I only considered a pen name for two seconds before I published under my own name. I didn't think I could get used to having people call me by the wrong name, lol. I hope I don't come to regret that decision :)

Val LaShay... hmm idk. It doesn't sound like me, though I guess that's kind of the point haha. Thanks for the suggestion though, I appreciate it :)

message 31: by RaiRaiKen (new)

RaiRaiKen RM Cinque

RM stands for my first two names: Raizza Mae. And Cinque is, hm, I'm not sure if it's Italian or Spanish or French. But it sounds close to my surname Cinco.

Christie Rich | 335 comments That's a cool name, Raizza. Kind of catchy.

message 34: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Brown (asarabaenre) For some reason I had always clung to the thought of "Alyssa-Rae Hartwood", Alyssa-Rae being my middle name.. and Hartwood.. not entirely sure why.
Recently though, I've been shifting away from the Alyssa-Rae to Asara.. but that doesn't fit so well with Hartwood so I'll have to find a new last name!

message 35: by Maria (new)

Maria Violante (mariaviolante) Re Ashley,

I really like Alyssa-Rae, actually.

Currer Jean (currerjean) Currer Jean. Currer because it was Charlotte Brontes' pen name for when she published her lovely work and Jean because it is Hermione GRanger's middle name and I truly love Hermione.

Kelcie (kbarbuti) | 8 comments I read in a magazine a while ago about how to create a "Fame Name." You take your great-grandmother's first name as your first name and then use the name of the first street you ever lived on as your last name.

Mine would be Elizabeth Taylor. Kind of funny :)

Duks (cnduks_) | 1836 comments Amelia Luna, keeps popping in my head... So I'll go with that! I just fell in love w/ "The Princess Diaries" and Luna because of my girl Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter!

message 45: by Amelia (new)

Amelia Caraballo (msamelia) I've fallen in love with two names, Clotilda West and Emilia Kenleigh.
The first name is so exotic and foreign where as the second name is almost the opposite of my real name.
Clotilda is my great-grandmothers name and West is the first street I lived on.
Emilia is the opposite of my name (Amelia) & to be honest, I've always like Emilia more than Amelia. And Kenleigh is the last name of one of my favorite characters.

Iron Fist | 7 comments I already created my pen name and publish all my works as Iron Fist. It is also my user name here on GR.

The stories I write are the reason for this name. They are usually shocking, blunt, provocative and deal with some kind of dystopian or dark fantasy world. My real name would sound silly next to these stories.
