Create a Pen Name

Lots of people using their middle name.

I don't have a middle name.

I would like to have a pen name, but not sure. I'd want it to be unique and catchy. Well if I use my initials and a name I like I'd have C.C. Jane. If I do the greatgran/street combo I get Catherine Bishop. Hm, and not sure how to use my middle name Yvantí (ya-vahn-tay) Yeah, I'll keep thinking on it!

I use a pen name. My real name is Tasha Lennhoff. As a kid I always said if I wrote I'd use Turner my grandmothers last name to honor her. She was a stifled artist due to the time period she lived in. The art she did do is stuff I'll always treasure. So when I thought there might be religious backlash related to my writing I started using Tasha Turner. Within a couple of months it seemed I was probably wrong about the backlash (we'll find out when my book actually comes out).

My names are pretty well linked but within 2 months of using the pen name I had several hundred FB & twitter friends and people would switch which "persona" they were talking to depending on whether it was a personal conversation or about books and publishing so I've kept the name.

I have to use a pen name because I have a day job and would rather my company not know what I write about. My pen name is my Goodreads name.

That being said, my pen name is a coupling of my daughter's potential nickname and the last name of the book character my son was named for. It's also my real name initials =)

I think if I was writing horror books I'd call myself Chuckles Von Batsy. It fits with my goodreads profile and photo of Count Von Count!

How about a mixture of your name and book tastes? Yvanti Blake has a nice ring to it.

Something to w/ my middle name (Lillie), parents' last names (Garrett and Walker) and maybe a kind of play on words.
