What would be your bet on the follow-up books?

Elisa Santos After reading the whole trilogy and the way that the story wrapped up nicely on these 3 books, and the level of plot had gone sky-high, that it´s hard to believe that there were supposed to be more 7 books to this saga - i mean, from where would they pull out a conspiracy as intricated as the one that just ended?
I know that he left a few strings loose - the twin sister of Lisbeth that never showed up - but all in all, it didn´t ended up leaving a feeling of "to be continued"....it´s almost as if Stieg Larson had the perception that he was not going to be able to finish his books.

Anyway, any bets on how he would continue this wonderfull plot?

Dee I think her sister would play a role in the later books, and potentially the other children that her father had - I think there were several alluded to in the final book

Yes... I agree with that. I think there is a lot more about the Zalachenko empire that could be explored. I'm not sure if you could fill up 7 more books with it, but I would venture to bet that the children are the plot line that leads into the next book, had it been published. And from there, who knows where Larsson would have sent us. Such a sad and untimely death for a such a talented author!

Elisa Santos Yeah, all of those brothers and sisters that her father mentioned, that are scatered all around the world but that he didn´t bothered to tell names and places.

Dee so lisbeth uses her awesome hacker skills to hunt them down...

Stephanie I would say that she would have no choice but to hunt them down. If they were in anyway loyal to Zalachenko, they would hunt her down. She would have to do it for her safety. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if the first one did hunt her down and that's how the whole thing started. It's so much fun to speculate... :)

Erica Romo Well, I was happy how it ended...too bad we won't find out what he was planning for the rest of the books.

Bob4you The rumor in Switzerland is that he did finish book 4 before he died but his long time live in GF that the family did not like has the manuscript. He supposedly died intestate (no will) family inherited the millions and millions in royalties. The GF wants a significant sum or money for the 4th book but the family is too greedy to give her anything so they are at a stalemate. She cannot sell the book as she has no legal right to it. Some day I hope they will reach agreement.

Alana I thought that he would have written two other scandals with the same characters uncovering it within the last seven books. Not necessarily continue with Lisbeth's background.

Paul Scott Having read 'The Man Who Left Too Soon' quite recently, which is about the short but illustrious career of Larsson, it appears that there are a couple of hundred pages of manuscript relating to a fourth book, though it is incomplete and unlikely to be published because of this. One can only speculate as to what Larsson may or may not have intended for the characters of his first three books, but I have the feeling that they would not follow on from the Salander/Zalachenko story, or include any further involvement of any of these characters. They may well have been Millenium based stories instead - it was, after all, The Millenium Trilogy...A word of warning too...'The Man Who Left Too Soon' tells very little more about Larsson than what his readers already know, is filled with a lot of padding about other Swedish authors and the plot lines and story of the three existing books in synopsis, which soprt of spoils things if you haven't read the books first. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone and think it was rather overblown and uninformative for the most part, simply containing quotes from publishers or associated authors or translators. Boring.

Shawn Macdonald I wanted to cry when I found out that he had died, and there wouldn't be a fourth book - or even fifth or sixth. I think there was a LOT of story left to tell!

Cláudio I've heard something about the existence of a (half-written) fourth book? Anyone knows of this?

Karen Gail Brown There will be no follow up books, because the author died. But he left a trilogy that is wonderful...exciting and skillfully written.

Bob4you the story I was told that there is 4th book (not sure how complete) that is in the hands of his girlfriend (mistress).Larsson died without a will, his family inherited the untold millions from the book sale. His GF got nothing, she is willing to sell the manuscript of the 4th book to the family who refuse to let he benefit financially so it sits in limbo.
Maybe someday someone will bend. I hope so, there is so much that could be added to the Trilogy.

Licha I was very satisfied with the way the series ended. I would rather not have to read a fourth book if it means that someone else (it has been mentioned that Larsson's girlfriend would finish the 4th installment off for him because she knew where Larsson wanted to go with it) is going to have to finish it off for him. Let's all just sigh at what could have been instead of possibly being left with a bad taste in our mouths because someone presumes to know what Larsson would have written.
I believe the same thing happened with one of Mario Puzo's novels, where his partner finished a book for him. VC Andrews still continues to have phantom authors write books as "she would have written them".
I would hope that if this ever does happen, they will warn the reader where Larsson's manuscript stopped.

Carina If Larsson had survived to write more I think I would enjoy reading them but as it is I do like how these books leave off. Yes there is some mystery regarding Lizbeth's sister but I see nothing wrong with that - makes it so much more 'grounded' in reality (I mean, how often do we ever get all the answers that we really want?).

Cláudio Now, people: could someone suggest another author with the same sort of style, characters and plot? Loved Larsson to the point of fantasy sing being a hacker (we all have a dark side). Loved the character of Daniel Silva's Mark of Assassin. Loved James Patternon's honeymoon, because of strong female - and people don't point this one as Patterson's best one. Read Safon's Marina, but too scary - hate the devilish creature and the fact that it could almost exist!. Any suggestions?

Karen Gail Brown I did not know anything of a fourth book...(thanks to Bob4you) for enlightening me)...but I should love to read a 4th one if it is ever published. I can only say shame on his family if they are really preventing its publication.

I have been reading a series written by C.J. Box. He has eleven novels so far in the series. Not the same kind of setting, and all the characters have less flaws. It's setting is Wyoming and the main character is a game warden. There is one character that is 'kinda' like Lisbeth, (dark side, but likable). I have read them one after the other. You may want to try them. Read them in order. You can find the order if you google 'cj box novel in order'.

I too miss Lisbeth......

Thanks Randy. I'll note those down.

I read this in the paper too. There have been various court cases where the family are trying to get the girlfriend to handover his last manuscipt. Personally I was happy with the way the book ended.

Try Henning Mankell's The Man from Beijing :)

Margaret Author wrote:"...Could someone suggest another author with the same sort of style, characters and plot?

Try David Baldacci-Simple Genesis. He has a few books already in print. His main characetrs in Simple Genius were a male/female combo. Also about murder investigation.Maybe not as dark as Larsson.
