Casting the movie

When I'm reading I like to take the physical traits of the character and place an actor in for visualization. If a movie was being made who would you cast in the parts:

Jake Epping / George Amberson : Matt Boomer even-though he's not tall enough.
My second choice would be Matthew Goode with an American accent if he could pull it off.

For Sadie Dunhill it was Agnes Bruckner.

Deke Simmons : Brian Cox

John Clayton or L Harvey Oswald : Chad Donella

I thought Jake was blonde, so I imagined Bradley Cooper or Ryan Gosling.

For Sadie, maybe Charlize Theron.

I couldn't put this book down, I found myself visualizing

Josh Holloway as George / Jake (I too thought of him as blonde).
Kristen Johnson as Sadie
Clint Eastwood as Deke
Allison Janney / Meryl Streep as Miz Mimi

Gary... like your suggestions... Maybe Katherine Heigl as Sadie - to go alongside Matt Boomer? Their height - which is mentioned repeatedly - works out as well; he's 5'11" - she's 5'9"...

I like John Cusack or Paul Rudd for Jake and Katherine Heigl for Sadie.

Oh, and Greg Kinnear for JFK. I thought that was great casting in "The Kennedys."

U 25x33
Raiyn Late to the party for sure, but Tara Moss as Sadie, Alexander Skarsgård as Jake / George

I personally think this whole thing would've worked better as a miniseries. I have no idea who should play who as I am bad at picking actors at the top of my head.

I envisioned Jim Caviezel (I adore him) as Jake & Cameron Diaz as Sadie.

For some weird reason, I kept seeing Colin Hanks as Jake ( I was watching Dexter S06 at the time). He has that school teacher look, but I don't know if he could pull it off.

For the coach : Dean Norris (breaking bad)

I like Brian Cox for Deke!

Oswald would be one of the hardest to cast, because everyone knows what he looks like.

I think Michael C. Hall (fROM DEXTER) Would fit in perfectly with this charachter

I can't imagine another actress to play Sadie that a very old one, Anita Ekberg http://cache2.allpostersimages.com/p/...

She was tall, she was blond, she was inncredible gourgeous (She's still alive, but she doesn't look pretty anymore). When I was reading the novel, Anita Ekberg was my model for Sadie.

I can't imagina any actual actress playing that role. Maybe Charlize Theron, but she is skynny, or Michelle Williams, but she's petite.

Your casting is fantastic! Exactly what I pictured!

Greta Gerwig as Sadie. (Charlize Theron is TOO beautiful).
Already said Ryan Gosling for Jake but I also like the idea of Paul Rudd
Sissy Spack for Mizz Mimi
Tommy Lee Jones for Deke
Tim Roth would have made a great Oswald but he's too old. I'd cast an unknown.
Greg Kinnear and Katie Hokmes for the Kennedy's (they were both good in the mini series)

I always pictured Jake Epping as John Krasinski. He has the height, and he's attractive, but not distractingly so. I'd like to see Amber Heard as Sadie.

Al - Gary Oldman

I Agree with jim C, Through out the book, I couldn't picture anyone else, only jim caviezel and no body else, his cold persona matches the non crying jake epping at the beginning of the book...
Laurie Holden as Sadie, She's a blond for sure.
the guy in JFK movie 1991 has done a pretty good owsald i think

John Cusak as Jake

Craig T. Nelson as Deke

Scarlett Johansson as Sadie

Tobey Maguire as Oswald
