Preethi (scarletohhara) | 29 comments And here's mine....
No itinerary, going as I wish, picking up books as I find them.
[This is somehow reminding me of this old Hindi song - Main Zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya, as I am picking up my books :-)]

Marieke | 209 comments i started a map for my personal side-challenge but i'll be making one for 52 as i go along, starting January 1 in South Africa. i think this map thing is so cool...but i haven't checked in on my account in awhile so i can't remember, is there a way for us to follow each other on there? i think i will use their blog function to post my reviews of the books i read for each stop. but i might be too lazy.

Ooh, you know Hindi. Very apt song for the situation.

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 253 comments Here's my trip. I made one earlier, but it was a mess. So I decided to go marking as I read.

Scarlett, would you translate please because I'd like to sing too. :)

Hey Pragya,
So you're on your third book or is this the "trip" you plan to start Jan.1?

Mikki, the meaning can't be translated literally, it's really the words and the mood that is what it is all about. However, it is something like "I walked hand in hand with life...".

I guess Scarlett can translate better.

Yes, Anne, I'm on my third book since my list instead of having 52 books, has a humongous 206! :(

I can't seem to cut short even one. And you know I only have so much time before I got busy. So, I'm making the most of it. :)

message 59: by Anne (new)

Anne (reachannereach) Good for you, Pragya. We both know that when you get busy you won't have so much free time for things like reading novels. No need to cut your list. I haven't counted all the books on my list but I know I won't be reading them all next year. I just have them as options for this year and tbr in following years.

message 60: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 253 comments Yes, with these 206 and more than 800 others on my TBR, looks like I have made my TBR for my lifetime. :)

message 61: by [deleted user] (last edited Dec 24, 2011 08:43AM) (new)

I realized yesterday that I have only 400 unread books in the house, which will hold me for a mere 2 1/2 years. I hope Christmas will rectify this.

message 62: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 253 comments Ha Ha, Sho! 400!! Seriously! :D

Do you really think your current tbr will last a lifetime? What about al the books you will be adding? Ha.

You know what, that is what I was thinking. But I thought maybe I could live in denial that no more books will be added to my TBR but you caught me, ;)

Anne, I'm not able to get to your map. Did you put in only one destination because it might require two just to begin showing journey. Or maybe I'm just not seeing right?

message 67: by Anne (new)

Anne (reachannereach) Mikki,
you're right. It was showing a town in England, my first stop. Now it looks like I haven't set it up. I'll just have to wait until I figure out my second stop.

message 68: by Anne (new)

Anne (reachannereach) Okay, I remembered my second stop. Here's my itinerary so far:

I see it now and I'm thinking that we can link our reviews where it has an area for description...

Gussie (a_reader_1) | 68 comments Mikki wrote: "I see it now and I'm thinking that we can link our review..."

Does it accept hyperlinks?

message 72: by Mikki (new)

Mikki I tested it but they seem to only work on the blogs. I might need to play around with it a bit more...

message 73: by Anne (new)

Anne (reachannereach) Sho better get in a big supply of books. You never know when there might be a shortage.

message 74: by [deleted user] (new)

We can paste link in description area and then copy and paste to go there.

message 76: by Beth (new)

Beth (eparks4232) | 311 comments This is going to be SOOOOOO cool. I'm waiting to 1/1 to officially, since I'm finishing things up for challenges from this year, but I'm very excited. I've got the planned map up, but might it is likely to get altered as I go (I've figured out how to move stops around). Meanwhile I also geocache (see www.geocaching.com -- it is a blast) and have a travel bug in a race this year (against many others, including ones by husband and daughter), and I have maps for those up too. This is so addictive...

message 77: by Shomeret (new)

Is a zombie apocalypse expected in the near future? I haven't listened to CNN lately.

message 79: by [deleted user] (new)

Judging from the proliferation of books on the subject, I have assumed so.

Right after the Mayan apocalypse ... oh wait, that's right, someone miscalculated this and it won't happen in the next years. I'm sure they'll find a logical reason why the zombie apocalypse hasn't happened too.

Back to topic, I've made my map based on the books I already own ... I seem to have ignored out South America. Didn't look so bad when I just wrote it down ... maybe I should choose the last books from those countries ;).

message 81: by Anne (new)

Anne (reachannereach) I wonder what a zombie apocalypse would look like. I'm not knowledgeable in this area, but would like to be aware of the first signs.

message 82: by Beth (new)

Beth (eparks4232) | 311 comments First sign: people on reading sites asking about the signs of a zombie apocalypse.

message 83: by mussolet (new)

mussolet (sovotchka) | 115 comments Beth, that's very depressing. Now everyone is going to ask themselves whether they're actually just zombies attacking book stores instead of innocent humans buying reading material ;).

Er - I am guessing that it means someone for whom books are the equivalent of what brains are to "normal" zombies.

Anne (reachannereach) Navdeep, thank you for your explanation. I would have never thought of that.

Sorry to be pedantic but wouldn't you be a reading vampire then? And thanks to Stephanie Meyer, belonging to that bloodline (haha!) isn't cool anymore - unless we're talking about Dracula, of course.
