I spend at least half and sometimes three quarters of my day right here. I can't seem to tear myself from GR. It is incredibly addicting. I could be getting a lot more reading done and probably have finished the FALL CHALLENGE if I would have allowed myself more time to read.
I read the boards mostly at work and can't read there anyway, so thankfully it doesn't interfere too much.
I spend entirely too much time reading the threads even if I don't always respond. Most of the time I log on during work and will toggle back and forth if I'm bored or in need of a break. I also log on when I have to do homework and toggle back and forth then too. I didn't spend much time on GR until I joined this group. =/
Yeah, I'm suppose to be reading for class and doing research. Instead I read about other people's chinese signs on here and went to go research what animal I am. Turns out I'm a unfocused Rooster. LOL.
I'm worse than anyone. This is no ideal boast. I got to be #1 Librarian because I waste time all the time playing with Goodreads. Oh, I just checked, I'm not #1 anymore, heeheeheehee (Of course I don't mean this to apply to the other Librarians who are doing a very good job in their own time of sorting out problems and cleaning up the databases of GR).
Way to much time. I try to read first and then log on here. Or, I log on here while at work (if it's slow) and get caught up. Then go home and read in the evening.
Too much, too much...and every day I promise myself I'll do this and this and this before logging on. Once I log on, it's too late....I'm stuck!
Too much time on GR. I could be reading!
definitely too much time..its just so much fun to talk to other book lovers..i don't have many of those kinds of friends in real life..i have this thing that i downloaded as a Mozilla add-on..and its called leechblocker..and i can "lockdown" certain sites for however long i want..that's what i have to do with this site to make sure i am being productive with school work and reading. I also use it because you can see how much time you spend on certain sites.
I spend just enough time to get a look at what everyone is reading, take a few hints for my next reads, make some hit and run comments and get out of dodge. All in all, about 2 hours (give or take) a day. Too much to read to spend more.
Fiona ! If you had TWO exams the next day, that too spaced just 1 hour apart, and if all that goes in your mind is GR, you mind need to block GR for sometime.. :)
Blocking GR???????? nonoAtishay, why don't you use the GR-virus as axcuse...nobody would understand anyway what it is and if they do it's because they have the virus themselves! Good luck studying anyway.
I got the comment this evenign that I am reading too much! Why? Just ebcause since seeing that eprson one week ago I am on my fourth book? You can never read too much!!!!!!!!
I am so glad I'm not alone!I'm reading this group's threads more than grading papers, more than reading my new book, and more than watching the movie I just rented! Arrg..
I love GR so much - it's a great way to have a TBR list that's so long I have no idea how I'll ever work through it! This site is so addictive to me that it cuts quite a bit into my reading time. Ah well, it's more productive than Facebook! :)
haha i know..its a horrible thing to block GR..but sometimes with school..you just HAVE to..i get nothing done..because all i want to do is be on here! :)
I have Goodreads on all day and check in whenever I need a break from work, which is quite regularly :) Sometimes of an evening I have to tell myself, okay, enough's enough, log off NOW!
Carrie,I'm slightly addicted to Facebook too! I finally made an account a week or two ago because everyone I know kept heckling me make one. :)
I must be the only one who wishes she could spend more time here and become more involved in the discussions. It seems like whenever I log in I'm too tired to think and respond. All I can do is follow a few threads...I rarely make it past the general discussion topics. Of course, I'd also like even more time to read. Hmm, teaching is getting in the way of everything. I think I need to find myself a sugar daddy!
LOL Carrie! Yep, I do that too. Of course, I'm at the point where I'm seriously considering grading on personality. I think the grades would be about the same. I've also offered to "sell" grades, but my students won't take me seriously on it.
I had one test on Optimization and the other a lab test on Electromechanical Energy Conversion (all about motors and generators). Anyway, now I don't have another test till wednesday , so GR virus is on.
I just thought of another excuse: while we spend time on GR, we don't spend money (no don't start thinking about how much we spend on books)!!!!!!
Thanks to my friends who started to send links of facebook with their pictures I finally made an account too some months ago....I really didn't want to!
I was always thinking the same Fiona. But I kept asking if they could send me the pics to my e-mail and gave up because I felt bad about it. Now of course they mainly are in contact with me through the website, so I am on it too.
think....yep right, didn't we pass that level already...but to be serious..I really should logg off...
and it doesn't work well at all when you are on!!!! :-)))))I kinda start to feel vomiting like....and don't want Petra to start writing about it..so maybe better take a break....and there is my book waiting but in the other room!!! And my hands are jsut freezing here!!!! Okay, last time refreshing...
hmmmm carrie, I thought I amde it and then you came up! You already made my TBR shelves grow today!!!
