Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments Was at the dentist this morning.
I took out my copy of Heart-Shaped Box while I was waiting in "the chair"
This hygenist comes in and asks me what book I'm reading
I tell her.
Turns out, this girl is a reading fanatic just like me!
We talked and talked about books. She forgot to give me my toothbrush and detal floss and also forgot to schedule my next appt.
But, I found out she is a huge Stephen King fan and loves classics etc. (like Jane Eyre)
So, then she asks me if I know of any book clubs. I told her about my library ones.
She tried the library but didn't like the books they chose.
So, then I told her about TNBBC on Goodreads. She is so excited to find us!!
Hope she does! :)

Wow Kellie... Amazing how one little book can bring complete strangers together huh?!

message 60: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments Yep...
I find myself looking at people who are reading..trying to see their book.
I stop complete strangers and ask them about their book. Especially if it's something I've read.
Readers Unite!!

Carrie (missfryer) | 453 comments I like it when people do that to me, kellie.
EVERYTIME I go to the doctor he gets all excited asking me about my book. He reads vicariously through me since he's too busy :)

message 62: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments That is cool Carrie.

My gynocologist who I see 1 time a year reads some.
She read a Greg Isles book last year she was telling me about.
The woman has an awesome memory. When she saw me this year, she remembered the conversation.

I just discovered one of my daughter's friends, her mother reads.
I just happened to have a copy of One for the Money and lent it to her because she hasn't read any of them yet.
I lent it to my sister just recently and she begged me to find Two for the Dough
I mooched it and she had it in a week!

JG (Introverted Reader) I like it when someone asks me what I'm reading and some sort of book discussion follows. But I hate it when someone interrupts me to ask what I'm reading and then tells me that they hate reading, they always have hated reading, and they always will hate reading. What's the point of that? We accomplished nothing except for breaking my reading "flow" and making me think that I will never understand you. I seem to be surrounded by these people at work.

message 64: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Kelli, can I come to the States and have your dentist??!!! I have always boring visits at the dentist. I am not scared of it so don't have to be busy with that. Since I started to take care of my teeth myself and not depend on my parents, nothing is wrong with them so it is borring to go. And he never starts talking about books!!!!!
But I am like you...I always try to find out which book someone is reading and my boyfriend notices it because I start to move strange with my body to get simple things out of my bag for instance or cuddle against him...just to find out about the book!!!!!

Lori, you are to blame for it!!!! How could you make this so addicting!!!!!!

Wow, Fiona!!! A-levels for personality ad you are English!!! What a compliment!!! :-)))))

message 65: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Thre you go! There msut have been an explanation for you being so less English than most people I noticed out there!!!!! That's a compliment by the way:-)
And there is an Irish aprt in you!!! We decided that in two or three weeks we are moving to Ireland!

message 66: by Elena (new)

Elena | 45 comments I like to browse this site when I'm at work, reading the posts in the groups I've joined, looking around for interesting reviews about books I'd like to read etc.... :) :) So I don't actually spend time here, which could be spent reading!

message 67: by Isiah (new)

Isiah (volition) I've actually been neglecting TNBBC, if I didn't I wouldn't have read any books in the last 2 weeks. I have a tendency to be on forums too much, if I treated this one the way I do others I probably wouldn't read at all considering reading is something I prefer to do over almost everything...almost.

Carrie (missfryer) | 453 comments I love this thread :)
It makes me feel validated.

message 69: by Atishay (new)

Atishay | 1451 comments This thread actually made me realize for the first time that I was spending too much time on GR and my reading was suffering. That's why now I've put a limit on the amount of time I spend here. And that's just twice a day. It seems to be working so far. :)

message 70: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments For now, the only thing I seem to be doing during the day is sleep, eat, read and TNBBC. I will miss those days!
