I think the one that was the November read Peril at End House was great because I would have never guessed the murderer.

And also Murder on the Orient Express, that ending was a huge surprise to me.

The first time I read The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, I was so knocked out by the ending that I had to read it again, immediately!

Until now it's definitly "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd". I was so shocked by the ending. I couldn't believe it. Maybe I didn't want it to be true.

Funny, isn't it? The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is the ONLY book of the great AC's where I 'twigged' it right from the start. I felt massively disappointed as a result. LOL.

Hi, everybody! First post with you all. The 1st one I thought about was "Murder on the Orient-Express" (because it was my very 1st contact with Dame Agatha during the 80s): it left me repeating over and over "is that even possible?". But reading your posts, I have to agree: the winner is "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd" (the problem is that it's the kind of thing you can't forget and since i'm a re-reader...)

Murder on the Orient Express!!! Fantastic! (The only one in which I easily worked out the "twist" was Peril at End House. It involves the sort of thing I tend to notice.)

Five Little Pigs and Sleeping Murder. I have to confess though that I NEVER guessed the murderer right, in any of AC's books. Call me dumb, but often when I reread a book years later (like 20+ years!) I STILL can't guess, though I have a sort of feeling who it was last time!

I'll sometimes guess way too early who the murderer is and that's my big clue that I've read the book before.

I agree with most of the posters here but nobody has mentioned the one book that really surprised me, "Crooked House". It wasn't just the murderer that amazed me but also the motive.

You guys are the best ones to continue voting on it, I think: it looks like you've read a lot more Christie than I have! :D

As for me: And Then There Were None was great. I also thought Murder on the Orient Express and The Murder of Roger Ackroyd would hypothetically be shocking, if I hadn't known the outcome before I started reading (thanks, dad) :/ haha

Yes, it's the "crooked house" which had the most 'shocking' ending, amongst those I had read

Yes! And isn't Charles Laughton wonderful in it? One of my all-time favorite movies. I guess when it was first released to theaters, the audience was asked not to divulge the ending to anyone who hadn't seen the movie.

They're ALL twisty to me, but The Hollow, Crooked House and The Man in the Brown Suit all come to mind.

Crooked House was one of the creepiest ones that I have ever read. I suspected everyone except the person who did it. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd was good too, as were The Hollow, At Bertram's Hotel,and And then there were none. I couldnt sleep the night I finished the latter.Hercule Poirots Christmas I could never have guessed either. I have read so many where that person did it, but I never thought of them in this case. All of the Agatha Christies have good endings.

I just listened to that book yesterday. Creepy. I am usually okay at guessing endings, but that one floored me.

I felt the same about Crooked house. Surprised and gave me shivers all over the body... The other creepy was ,,Endless noght'', but murderer was more obvious

That's probably the list I voted on! My picks were The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, And Then There Were None/Ten Little Indians, and Murder on the Orient Express. Those three had such unique, original endings.

I think the only Christie that I guessed the ending of (correctly) was A Murder is Announced.

I don't think I've ever guessed right! They've all been surprises. Sometimes I'll get the person but not the way they did it or the reason. Most of the time I only get it because I've been saying "they did it!" about every character. lol!

I have guessed Death on the nile, Death comes as the end, Caribbean murder, and Mrs. Mcginty's dead. There may have been a few more, but I cant remember them right now.
