Loulou tbh i don't think a vampire would care much whether it was 'pure' or not. this discussion is freaking me out, so i'm gonna go now

Melissa Nope she made a necklace of Midol and a cross of tampons to defend herself.

That is the funniest thing ever you must friend me

Isabel Hahahahaha I can't stop laughing while reading this discussion! The comments are amusing and some of them are just too funny! While I read the series I thought of odd little gaps too, but I never dwelled on it for long. It's just a fictional book after all, so there are going to be holes and Meyer can't really cover everything in the world she made. But I love how the point that was made created this entire discussion.... :)

AJ Oh my God I can't believe this conversation is actually happening. I must confess the thought had crossed my mind, but I never actually gave it a lot of thought. It's all just too revolting to think about.
You guys are funny though :)

....there is period blood in the sea. oh motherofallthingshairy. thats not cool.

marry anne (rosii) maybe she didnt want bella having her period because it would be to much for her write and it would belike every few chapter were she would have to talk about bella dying becuz she has her period

Dish Wanderer I think this is a very relevant thread. I have wondered myself. Charlaine Harris makes a mention of Sookie being on her period and Bill being able to smell it.

Going by Vampire mythology, they could die by blood drinking impure or cold blood. So yeah.

Will, you are one funny guy! So succint, but true!

Licha Madison wrote: "Well.... the period blood's much different than regular blood. It is basically dead cells and waste. While regular blood is useful, has oxygen, and so on."

Wow! That was TMI!

Ziyue O.O 0.0 O.O 0.0 This while question topic this is creeping me out. I only read twilight and stopped when I finished there when I finished it. Im just going to get out of this topic now......*backs up slowly* ........yeah ok, bye everyone!

Hannah Why don't vampire books ever mention this issue!?!

Dish Wanderer I second that Curlygirly !

Mikaela most of the period fluid is actually blood, is the lining of yur uterus that breaks down when the egg doesn't become fertilised, so that could explain some of the whole Edward, Bella, Period thing

Mikaela Melissa wrote: "I asked the very same question. If anyone was gonna kill her durning her period why didn't Jasper do it then. Or for that fact why not attack the whole school?"

thats funny

Mikaela Georgia wrote: "plus i agree on the...other topic... the only time Bella had ever mentioned her period was in the 4th book *SPOILER ALERT* when she got pregnent. WTF? saw this joke the other day...
Edward -Bella ..."

i totally didn't get that at first till someome actually told me.Agreed eww but kinda funny

Grace He eats her pads and tampons.

R.S. Merritt Too easy.... :-)

theturtlestudyroom The author, Stephanie Meyer covered this in an interview for the Twilight Lexicon. According to her, menstrual blood does not have the same potency as "fresh" blood and Edward is (thusly) able to control himself better.

Meyer: Edward can’t be around Bella when she’s bleeding without being in intense temptation–to the point of pain. A few drops would only make it worse. Like a few drops of water when you’ve been wandering in the desert for days… You’d totally suck down the whole gallon of Evian.

Several girls wanted to know if Edward would have a more difficult time being around Bella when she’s having her period. Answer: Yes, a little bit, but he would never say anything about it – much too much of a gentleman. And Bella would be way to embarrassed to ask. (It’s not the same as a cut, though. It’s sort of "dead" blood, if you get my meaning).

Susan I have only read one book where it mentions a person on their period any other time it dosesn't exist.
