FasterKillFastPussycat I read twilight and new moon before I knew they would be movies....I had no idea I was reading something that would become so big......especially since twilight came out around 2005.....I loved the books and have read all four as well as seen the movies....of course the idea of a sparkling vampire is absurd and I admit I kept waiting book after book for Bella and Edward to get busy...lol!!! And was dissapointed every time they didn't but overall I loved this series......I don't understand how Team Jacob or Edward ever started tho because when reading I always knew she would choose Edward and thought Jacob was kind of a stalker who couldn't accept the words stop,no and don't...lol!!!!

message 105: by Anika (new) - rated it 4 stars

Anika The twilight movie got me into reading books again once I found out it was based on the book. I have read all four books, have the audiobooks and the released DVD's. But before I got to the end I was and still for Jacob but once Edward came back in the end of New Moon I knew there was no hope for Jacob.

@ ElectrikREd - Jacob ain't a stalker she did have feeling 4 Jacob and if there was more time before Edward came back she might have given her heart to Jacob in New Moon. Yous saw how much she cried after the fight in Eclipse when they both resolved that she was going to marry Edward it scared Edward too all those tears she cried for Jake.

Aycal Herondale i read the whole series twice.i didn't like it at the time, but i have to say that new moon is my favourite now.

Jennifer I read the books way before the movie was even considered. Love the movies. Can't get enough of them. Can't wait for the next movie to come out. Loved the Honeymoon parts.

Melanie Cusick-Jones I did a random mix - saw the film of Twilight first having never heard of the series and saw trailer when at cinema for something else. Once I'd seen that I had to get my hands on the books - so read the first three v quickly as they were all out. Waited for Breaking Dawn and have to say it's my least favourite - not bothered seeing the film as yet, whereas for the others I was first day of release.

Books and film are different mediums so there are good points and bad to each: the films do action better - I don't feel writing 'action' scenes is one of Meyer's strong points and so those sequences are better in the films... For the books you get a better feel for the tension and friction of the relationships so I esp. like the initial development between Bella and Edward in Twilight - the additional scenes with them that are cut from the film give you more time to appreciate them getting together. Also - there is more character development for other Cullens etc. in the books, which you would probably like if you like those characters.

Just like other book to film conversions - such as the H Potter franchise, Lord of the Rings, etc. - take each one as a separate thing and look for the positives in each rather than comparing them like for like.

:)

brooke1994 My sister read all four books in one day.

message 110: by Caitie (new) - rated it 4 stars

Caitie I have, and I really liked them.

message 111: by Amy (new) - rated it 4 stars

Amy Read all 4 and love them but thought that Breaking Dawn was way too long for me to read.

Twilight loved it, knew what was happening because I watched the movie.

I read Twilight a few times, didn't take me long to read Twilight and New Moon lol

Loved reading Eclipse :D the fighting scene was amazing in the book & on screen :-)
Knew what was happening when I was reading the book because as before I'd seen Eclipse at the movies also because it was real vivid.

Mariann Read them all. Loved them all.

Haven't seen the movies, I'm afraid they aren't as good as the books and I will end up feeling upset. Edward looks ugly. :(

Lol, when I read them I couldn't put the books down! Sometimes I stayed up till 2 or 3 in the morining reading them.

Regina the Constant Reader I wasn't going to read this series at all, sparkly vampires? WTF? O.O, but my daughter talked me into started them. I've read Twilight and New Moon so far. They aren't as bad as I expected. I've seen all the movies so far, also because of my daughter, and of those Eclipse was my favorite, so I'm really looking forward to reading it.

message 119: by Season (new) - rated it 4 stars

Season You will enjoy it, although there is a part in there that was way too long for me, but everyone is different. I actually like Twilight best, although I do like how Breaking Dawn is broken up into parts, I was just a little disappointed in how it all turned out.

message 120: by Jo (new) - rated it 2 stars

Jo I read all 4 books and enjoyed what they were for: ya.
Skipped the fillers and really had a nice time. Only saw the first movie and realized I liked my version better!!!

The part about Jasper? That's was my daughter's favorite part. I'm waiting till I finish all of them to decide which one I like best.

message 123: by Rula (new) - rated it 3 stars

Rula i have read the three books and now reading the fourth book so i am preparing myself for the ultimate surprise.

message 124: by Season (new) - rated it 4 stars

Season Go in the 4th book with an open mind, don't have too high of expectation, I don't want you to be disappointed in the ending, also read it very throughly as parts are very important, at least to me they were.

message 125: by Amanda (last edited Feb 02, 2012 09:16AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amanda I highly recommend reading the books if you enjoyed the films. Think about all the extra information you're gonna get out of the books!
