Diane I hadn't even heard of the Twilight Saga before my husband brought New Moon home for me. He said it looked like something I would like. I was immediately hooked & I haven't put the books down since. I bought Eclipse & Breaking Dawn in hardback because I couldn't wait for the paperback to come out. I almost cried when I finished them. I keep hoping for more. I read what Ms Meyer released of Midnight Sun and I enjoyed that too. I hope that she decides to finish it someday.;-)

I somewhat agree with you. I read them just to see what the fuss was all about. I found that the books dragged in many areas and some disappointment in the action scenes due to them being somewhat uneventful. All the build up for it to fall flat. I agree that there was way too much filler. Over all I find that these books are great for the YA audience. They aren't my usual read. I found Twilight (movie) to be okay. New Moon was seriously awful. Eclipse was better than the previous two but fell short (all the movies so far did) to the book. Breaking Dawn surprised me. They changed a lot of scenes to make the movie work since most of the book was filler and dragged quite a bit. It was the best made out of all of them and I actually enjoyed watching it. Though the beginning was sickeningly corny. I rolled my eyes in the theater and I am a romance writer! I love "love scenes". Got better with the tearing up the bed scene and I so wished they showed MORE. But I digress, they had to stick to the pg-13 standards. The drama was great especially at the end though Bill Condon changed that scene to give it more oomph; he did that with quite a few that weren't in the book. Thumbs up to him! All in all I give the whole series (books) 3 out of 5 stars. The movies I give as follows. Twilight-2 out of 5, New Moon-1 out of 5, Eclipse-3 out of 5, and Breaking Dawn part 1 4 out of 5. I hope BD #2 is as good if not better than its first counterpart. Also I read the incomplete "midnight sun" Honestly I loved reading it from Edwards point of view and it seemed that Meyer was a lot more organized and insightful. One more thing to add. I give a 5 out of 5 for her novella "The short life of Bree Tanner" or something like that. I loved that novella. It was beautifully written.

Karli I read them all!!! But Eclipse and Breaking Dawn were my favorite!! Read them both twice!! I didn't like Twilight though I thought it was kind of boring!

Nicole I read all the books and also have seen all the movies. I think the movies are not as good as the books. Some of the books are better then the others, But this book is easy to read over an over.

Erin I have read all the books and seen all the movies besides Breadking Dawn Part 2! I cant wait! I love Twilight :D

message 56: by Emma (new) - rated it 2 stars

Emma I read all four in fifth grade, in about 8 days. I also read The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner within one reading. I just haven't been able to get my hands on midnight sun. It's on my xmas list.

Emma Megan wrote: "I read them I HATED New Moon"

Yes, me too. I hated that Edward left, and then there was just too much werewolf for my liking. mmm.

Debbie I started the series because my daughter (not a reader) and her friends kept going on about them. I wanted to see what they were reading. Because of the way they were discussing the books I really didn't expect much but once I started reading I was hooked. Meyers writing style is one I really enjoy. As much as I like the series, the movies are just ok. But then again I almost always like the book better than the movie of a story. My imagination while I'm reading is much more active than movieland can create.

Cat I read alllllll of them.

Daisy sanchez I read all of them and I liked Eclipse the most and Breaking Dawn

message 61: by April (new) - rated it 1 star

April I read all the books because I was tired of hearing how great they were and that i was somehow missing out.
The first book was okay but, the rest of them were awful. And the obsession that people have with these books and movies I find TERRIFYING. They are not that well written and the fact is that Bella is a pathetic, weak, whiney twit, Edward is a stalker with ZERO personality and nothing to say that would keep me interested for even an hour over coffee and Jacob is just a simpleton.
I wish girls/women would raise their standards just a tad and get a clue.

Haidi You know what?, You shouldn't bother wasteing your time even reading these discussions let alone commenting on them. Let anyone who does enjoy the books and movies enjoy them in peace. None of us care about what people like you think. I only have one life and I want to enjoy it as much as possible and at the moment the Twilight books and movies make me happy so I'm going to enjoy them as much as I want.

Angie ~aka Reading Machine~ Everyone is entitled to their opinion April and Haidi. If everyone has the same taste the world around us would be a pretty boring place to be in.

I agree, I just read your first comment about being a wolf fan, have you read Shiver Linger and Forever?

Monisa Ahmed I had read the whole series...:)...I like it though not that i love it...

message 66: by April (new) - rated it 1 star

April Haidi, thank God that I live in a free country and can comment on what ever I'd like. You're free to say what you like as well. But if you think that I or anyone else who doesn't share your opinions shouldn't be allowed to express themselves is total crap. Maturity would do you well, grow up.

Tjala me!! eclipse is the best!!

message 68: by Trace (new)

Trace Riles I read them all =)

I agree with you eclipse was the best out of all

Haidi April, You are free to express your opinion and I respect your and others opinions, but dont see why it has to be during a discussion thats full of people who just want to write and read positive things about the books/movies. Join one of the other discussions for people who don't like this series maybe.

Season Breaking Dawn is the best, but I love all of them!!!!!!!!

All the original post asked was "How many have read the books?" Not "How many of you have positive feelings about the books?" I saw the question and answered, I fail to see how my loathing these books should twist your little world.
If you like it great, but don't get bent of of shape because others don't. Have some confidence in your convictions.

Season you are so very free to have your opinion regarding these books. It has been so long since I read them, that I have a feeling if I read them now I might have a different take on them.

Valerie I've read all 4. They're all good except breaking dawn.

Missyb Valerie wrote: "I've read all 4. They're all good except breaking dawn."

That's interesting. I've hear the opposite from so many. I liked Breaking Dawn the most. Twilight and Eclipse were okay, and New Moon was too dragged out. All in all, it was an okay series.

Missyb Amber Marie wrote: "Missyb wrote: "I read all 4 books before the first movie even came out. They are wordy (too much filler) and drag in spots, but overall I liked the story. I liked the first movie, but did not parti..."

I kind of looked at it the same way, it's a YA series and some things in a YA series may not click with older readers as well.

Missyb April wrote: "I read all the books because I was tired of hearing how great they were and that i was somehow missing out.

Good point. they were sooooooo hyped. The marketing on this series was a genious. In a way it was a boom for other books and series of the vampire/wolf character. The biggest knock to the books was the writing, even other authors made comments on it. They just happened to click at the right time and took off, even though they are not the best written books (not talking about story plot etc, talking the writing itself such as the wording etc). I do agree with the Bella characterization. She drives me up a wall.

Missyb Emma wrote: "I read all four in fifth grade, in about 8 days. I also read The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner within one reading. I just haven't been able to get my hands on midnight sun. It's on my xmas list."

I read Midnight Sun online. You're not able to print it, but you can read it online (or use to be able to) for free.

Have you tried LA Banks,Crimson Moon series? The major characters are wolfs.

Ohh Bella drives me beyond crazy!! If my daughter ever ends up that pathetic and unable to be a fully functioning woman, I will know I failed as a mother. Twilight is not romantic or even love. Its an obsessive stalker and a chick with an Atypical case of Stolkholm syndrome.
I've been married for 13 years, have 4 kids and have weathered the ups and downs of life with a good man by my side. I wouldn't trade our REAL love for the flowery, dramatic, SHALLOW crap that Stephanie Meyers has peddled to girls/women as romance or love.
You're right though, the way the peddled this series was second to none. It still blows my mind that it has reached the devoted following that it has.

I've looked at her books in the store but haven't had anyone tell me what they think of them personally. I'll check them out on here to see if I like the concept. Thanks for the suggestion! Happy reading!

my Mom always wants to reach through the screen and choke Bella. She drives her nuts (Stewart does too). I'm not a fan of Bella or Stewart either, but I take the series for what it is. (I'm in my upper 30's)

Season yeah, not the biggest fan of Bella (or Stewart) either, but I do think at least in the first movie she really became Bella, but since then the true book Bella hasn't come through correctly or enough.

Noreen I loved all these books. Stephanie Meyer does a good job in keeping these stories interesting without getting really deep. I have to agree that the books were much better than the movies, although I enjoyed those too.

Kelsey The books are so much better then the movies the third one is comparable to the book but there are some parts that are not in there and in the books you can feel the emotions better

Dorien Ahhhhh i loved breaking dawn best movie for now!!!!! well what else can i say n.n

Dorien until breaking dawn part 2 comes out n.n

Dorien whoever spelled TWILGHT on the top spelled it wrong just to let you know n.n

Nancy Read all four within 2 weeks. Loved the story - not a big fan of the movies though.

Season I am liking the movies, but I think they could do better with the movies. So far I think the 1st one captured the book the best, at least for me.

brooke1994 I've read all four! The first one was boring, but still good, the second one was great, the third was action packed, and the 4th one rocked

Clara breaking dawn was my fav then eclipse then twilight... I've read them all like 50 times... no joke!!

message 95: by Sri (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sri i read them all but havent watched the movies
people say they're kinda gross

Danielle. Read them twice. the Twilight book is better than the first film (the film was stupid). I hated the New Moon book, the film was better. Eclipse was an okay read, but I liked the film better. Both the film and the book of Breaking Dawn were amazing.

Brittany I was browsing the highest rated film and animation youtube videos one day. I clicked on an interesting looking thumbnail. A fan made video for New Moon (All Fall Down) by SmokeyFiz popped up. The video compelled me to look up the series. I read a sample of the Twilight online. I drove to Barnes and Noble and bought the whole book series (well, not the whole series. Breaking Dawn hadn't come out yet). I usually don't buy books on impulse, but I had a very good feeling about this. I purchased the books (early 2008) before I knew the movies were in development. I know the movies are loved, but sometimes I wish they hadn't been made.

Season I totally agree, at the end of the day I have to say that the books are way better than the movie, although the first movie is the reason I read the whole series.

Mounica Srinivas i read twilight twenties of times, new moon, eclips only once, breaking dawn twice.Being with those books is really really coooooooooooollllll.especially twilight,it gives dejavu in heart.:))

message 100: by Season (new) - rated it 4 stars

Season I totally agree!! Loved Twilight, I actually really did enjoy all of the books, but thought the 3rd book was a bit slow, could have moved fast and maybe cut out a few things. But that is only my opinion.
