I somewhat agree with you. I read them just to see what the fuss was all about. I found that the books dragged in many areas and some disappointment in the action scenes due to them being somewhat uneventful. All the build up for it to fall flat. I agree that there was way too much filler. Over all I find that these books are great for the YA audience. They aren't my usual read. I found Twilight (movie) to be okay. New Moon was seriously awful. Eclipse was better than the previous two but fell short (all the movies so far did) to the book. Breaking Dawn surprised me. They changed a lot of scenes to make the movie work since most of the book was filler and dragged quite a bit. It was the best made out of all of them and I actually enjoyed watching it. Though the beginning was sickeningly corny. I rolled my eyes in the theater and I am a romance writer! I love "love scenes". Got better with the tearing up the bed scene and I so wished they showed MORE. But I digress, they had to stick to the pg-13 standards. The drama was great especially at the end though Bill Condon changed that scene to give it more oomph; he did that with quite a few that weren't in the book. Thumbs up to him! All in all I give the whole series (books) 3 out of 5 stars. The movies I give as follows. Twilight-2 out of 5, New Moon-1 out of 5, Eclipse-3 out of 5, and Breaking Dawn part 1 4 out of 5. I hope BD #2 is as good if not better than its first counterpart. Also I read the incomplete "midnight sun" Honestly I loved reading it from Edwards point of view and it seemed that Meyer was a lot more organized and insightful. One more thing to add. I give a 5 out of 5 for her novella "The short life of Bree Tanner" or something like that. I loved that novella. It was beautifully written.

Yes, me too. I hated that Edward left, and then there was just too much werewolf for my liking. mmm.

The first book was okay but, the rest of them were awful. And the obsession that people have with these books and movies I find TERRIFYING. They are not that well written and the fact is that Bella is a pathetic, weak, whiney twit, Edward is a stalker with ZERO personality and nothing to say that would keep me interested for even an hour over coffee and Jacob is just a simpleton.
I wish girls/women would raise their standards just a tad and get a clue.

I agree, I just read your first comment about being a wolf fan, have you read Shiver Linger and Forever?

I agree with you eclipse was the best out of all

All the original post asked was "How many have read the books?" Not "How many of you have positive feelings about the books?" I saw the question and answered, I fail to see how my loathing these books should twist your little world.
If you like it great, but don't get bent of of shape because others don't. Have some confidence in your convictions.

That's interesting. I've hear the opposite from so many. I liked Breaking Dawn the most. Twilight and Eclipse were okay, and New Moon was too dragged out. All in all, it was an okay series.

I kind of looked at it the same way, it's a YA series and some things in a YA series may not click with older readers as well.

Good point. they were sooooooo hyped. The marketing on this series was a genious. In a way it was a boom for other books and series of the vampire/wolf character. The biggest knock to the books was the writing, even other authors made comments on it. They just happened to click at the right time and took off, even though they are not the best written books (not talking about story plot etc, talking the writing itself such as the wording etc). I do agree with the Bella characterization. She drives me up a wall.

I read Midnight Sun online. You're not able to print it, but you can read it online (or use to be able to) for free.

Have you tried LA Banks,Crimson Moon series? The major characters are wolfs.

Ohh Bella drives me beyond crazy!! If my daughter ever ends up that pathetic and unable to be a fully functioning woman, I will know I failed as a mother. Twilight is not romantic or even love. Its an obsessive stalker and a chick with an Atypical case of Stolkholm syndrome.
I've been married for 13 years, have 4 kids and have weathered the ups and downs of life with a good man by my side. I wouldn't trade our REAL love for the flowery, dramatic, SHALLOW crap that Stephanie Meyers has peddled to girls/women as romance or love.
You're right though, the way the peddled this series was second to none. It still blows my mind that it has reached the devoted following that it has.

I've looked at her books in the store but haven't had anyone tell me what they think of them personally. I'll check them out on here to see if I like the concept. Thanks for the suggestion! Happy reading!

my Mom always wants to reach through the screen and choke Bella. She drives her nuts (Stewart does too). I'm not a fan of Bella or Stewart either, but I take the series for what it is. (I'm in my upper 30's)
