Favourite reading spot/Where do you read?

When it's summer and I am in the country I use to read cuddled on the porch swing. Otherwise I sit somewhere in the house. I always have a book in my purse though so whenever I have time, even if I'm not home, I read.

OMG.. a porch swing, romantic side of me thinks that would be an AWESOME place to read... ESPECIALLY in the country..

Otherwise--I am much like you Byron--I read everywhere--I carry my kindle to all sorts of places--never without it!

My other fav place to read is in bed... where I'm heading NOW.. I'm yawning like nothing on earth.. and I want to get a wee bit further into this book..

By the country is quite beautiful here, yes, especially opposed to the nightmare of grey that the city I live in is becoming.
ps Good Night, the bed is one of my favourite places as well, especially after I bought the kindle cover with the light included. A blessing!

It really changed my life that cover. It's a lot more easier to see than the normal booklight!

Seems like that would make it even better. Especially today.

Kat, that sounds cute and comfy! And in front of a fireplace to boot! Total awesomeness!
*sigh* I wish I had a dog to curl up next to me while I read. Someday...
For me, like you guys, I always have a book with me wherever I go. It's part of the reason why I stopped bothering with purses and switched to a small messenger bag. I can fit more books/notebooks in it along with all my other essentials, and be hands free at the same time. I read on the bus in the morning, on my lunch break, whenever I'm not writing, I'm usually reading.
But for me, the place I read the most is in bed. Every morning I grab a bowl of cereal and eat in bed with a good book. At night, I have to read something in order to be able to fall asleep. lol, no arguments with that at all, of course. So those are the times I get most of my reading done.

It's the best thing ever invented.

Yep, only problem is hurricanes, but that's an issue for all of the East coast of the US.
I did live in the US for a couple of years, NJ, so know what you mean about winter. Believe me, first chance I had, I booked it back to the nice, warm weather and STAYED!

Fireplace, nice book, Sir's lap, eggnogg.... nothing is better :D I love winter!!

@Kat, winter ugh. Winter driving double ugh. In my next life I want to live on a tropical island.

Beach, nice book, hubby's lap, "Coquito"...that's MY kind of winter... ;-)
ETA: For those of you wondering what "Coquito" is, here's a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coquito

I love snow :) We get lots of it every year. I add snow angels to my winter list :)

I like my city in winter when the trees have Christmas lights and there is snow :)

Wow...that is breath-taking!

I have a thing for fireplaces. They're just amazing. I can stare into one of them for hours, never needing a book or anything to do. Love the heat, and the flames and the crackling, the smell... the whole shebang. lol.
But I really only want snow for about a week or two around Christmas and New Years. Otherwise, I want it 80 and sunny. I'm always cold myself, and it's a pain to have to bundle myself up every day, so warm weather is definitely my friend. AC is not. lol.

Dude, you so need to set that up. You are missing out otherwise.

Be glad you'll be having summer.
Here winter is coming and no fireplace either :(

I've got the fireplace, but the heat in my building, which I don't control does all the heating for me these days when it's super cold out.
Never curled up with someone special though... and with my luck... ah well. I've got the fire, so guess I'm good.

Earlier today I spent the better part of lunch time in a spot where I LOVE to read... Sitting in my local botanic gardens...

So that's Melbourne, huh? Reminds me of Jungle Gardens at Avery Island where I grew up. Thanks for the pic B.

I do most of my reading whilst either sat in the kitchen with the dogs, or whilst curled up in the corner of the sofa (oh, again with the dogs... though reading through a dog is quite hard and a couple of them like to hang round my neck).
My favourite place to read at home though is in bed, normally whilst lying on my front, with the cats sleeping on my back, ear phones plugged in and a nice hot drink.

Southern part of Louisiana. Tabasco is grown and bottled there. Beautiful place.

My non-wimpy family members love Tabasco (ie. everyone but me)
Although if I remember right, you did mention kick-ass mosquitoes. That's the problem with reading outdoors here in MN. When I was a kid in Canada I had a treehouse and I used to read up there on nice summer days. Went through Lord of the Rings up there in the treetops every year for almost a decade. But here, if it's nice enough to read outside, the mosquitoes are lurking in wait. Outdoor activity is fine, outdoors sitting still in the shade - not so much. So I envy all these welcoming gardens and moors a bit.

Wonderful, another member of the "always carry a book just in case" club.
Recently the biggest need has been when my daughters are trying on clothes at the store - I've gotten halfway through a novel in one of those waiting room chairs (and with the Nook, no one can see what I'm reading ;)

I love reading outside and relaxing to the sound of nature (mostly nature in the city!)
BUT - I read EVERYWHERE.. I'll haul myself out to a local cafe, while cooking dinner, every work break I get, while watching a film..
My challenge to you is Share your favourite reading spot with the rest of the group..
