Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments I have a Dragons shelf as well. I don't know how many I have on it though. I usually only keep my unread books shelved as anything other than "read" or "to-read"

I wish goodreads wasn't so confusing as how to do links, post pictures etc.., I love the editing box on paperbackswap-so much easier to use.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments I just downloaded The Dragon Whisperer by K.C. Shaw as a freebie from the Amazon Prime Lending Library for Kindle.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments Well darn. I just realized that this challenge doesn't start until 1/11/11. I can't check another one out of the lending library until I return this one. I don't know how often the lending library with change.

Oh well. I have lots of other dragon books. Plus if I like it there's more in the series. I think.

Sandra | 25914 comments I think it could be because mine-http is too close together, needed a space after the hyphen.

I got confused and thought you were talking to me -- I thought you created the link because there wasn't one in the message #2 (it's there now). There should have been one. GR ate it. I think. Hmmm... *mutters* ... maybe I forgot...Doesn't matter. It's there now. :D

But now that I look at what you're referring to, I see what you mean. I prefer using "

Audrey Cook Kolbek (audreykol) Ok ... since there is no set goal. I am in too. Do you need to know how many books I am aiming for?

If you have a general idea (example, 12-15 or 5-10), that's good enough. Since it doesn't start until late-January, you've got plenty of time to decide. :D

Welcome!

Sandra | 25914 comments lol Christina I was just referring to Mary's link above.

And no Audrey, you can post as you go.

I'm going to throw my hat in the ring as well, I'm thinking i'll be reading about 15 books but that number could go up or down depending on what I have on my shelves :0)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments Sorry. I have another challenge starting today 11/11/11 so I had a head full of ones.

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 468 comments Has anyone read Anne McCaffrey? I am curious what you all think of her work. Some are available digitally from my library in ebook and/or audio.

message 69: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25914 comments AV I've read the first Dragon of Pern book and loved it.
Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments Jen - I read as many as I could get my hands on several years ago. I was reading them back to back. Kinda burned myself out for a bit, but never managed to get back to them. Now I wouldn't be able to tell you for sure which ones I've read!

I really enjoyed them. LOVED the dragons - and the relationship between the dragons and the riders.

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 468 comments I may give them a try. At least one. I have been looking through that huge list posted and have found some ideas.

She has been one of my favorite authors for years. The original trilogy is my favorite of the Dragonriders~
Dragonflight (Pern Dragonriders of Pern, #1) by Anne McCaffrey Dragonquest (Dragonriders of Pern Series #2) by Anne McCaffrey The White Dragon (Dragonriders of Pern Series #3) by Anne McCaffrey

Thank you! I will add those to my list of possible to reads for next year. My list that keeps on growing... I hope all of those are ones I can get from the library. I can't afford to buy all the books I want. I need to save my holiday money for 2012 releases since they will be harder to borrow.

Sandra | 25914 comments I'd be astonished if you couldn't get Ann McCaffrey at your library AV.

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 468 comments Sandra wrote: "I'd be astonished if you couldn't get Ann McCaffrey at your library AV."

You are probably right. I am trying to get things on ebook or audio whenever possible. I have enough paper books to get through already I am getting most books digital. I am just not used to the weight of a big book anymore. I just feel awkward lol.

OK, I've mixed it up a bit (because I don't have many Dragon based books) - but this is what I have so far:

Lord of the Fading Lands by C.L. Wilson (which has one of the worst covers I've ever seen by the way)
Eragon by Christopher Paolini
Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey - picked up a copy when I heard she had passed away.
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson (Is this OK, because it is out of genre?)
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
Dragonlance Chronicles: Dragons of Autumn Twilight/Dragons of Winter Night/Dragons of Spring Dawning by Margaret Weis

message 91: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25914 comments Wow, Lethal thanks for that, I missed that Anne McCaffrey had died. I'm sure you'll enjoy Dragonflight it was 5 stars for me.

Pretty sure that genre doesn't matter, just that it is dragons.

message 94: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25914 comments Yep, Chinese New Year is always different to normal. We always get dragon dances and special things happening in Chinatown here in Sydney and I'm sure the same thing would happen around the world.
