HEY! I want a recommendation.
What should I read next? Sleeping Beauties or Night Shift?..."
Night Shift would be my recommendation

That depends...is Night Shift going to be read as a single book for the group read (versus the individual stories by published date)? That will be coming up in several months.
Sleeping Beauties was just read as a group read and it will take a loooong time before it comes around again.

1.) Can't find a copy of "Colorado Kid" anywhere. Why is it so elusive?
2.) I have an early 1985 paperback copy of "Bachman Books" that I was going to donate to a used book store, but now I'm wondering what its value is, because all copies containing "Rage" have been discontinued (my copy contains it). Is this copy considered valuable or collectible?

Looks like there are lots of copies of the Colorado Kid paperback on Amazon. Just log in and search for it. As for the Bachman book... not sure it's a collectible, but I'd hang onto it.

There are also several copies of Colorado Kid on ebay as well.
I would say without seeing your copy of The Bachman books that it is worth about $5-10. If your are lucky maybe $15. If it is the only copy of Rage that you have then I would hang on to it just in case you want to revisit.

It depends on you how valuable to feel it is to you. Are you willing to give it away or do you want to hold onto something that is becoming rarer and rarer.

Just curious about a copy of the Shining I have. It has the dust cover from 1977 but no publisher name. The book is bright red with gold lettering but inside there is not a copy write date or publisher name. The dust cover does not state Book Club. The title page only says THE SHINING kind of crooked. Any Ideas? Can't find a copy like it anywhere.
Thanks,

This is a general question - I have just got two of the recent "Halloween special" reissues: Bag of Bones (for kindle) and Christine (in paperback). I am a bit of a nerd when it comes to adding the right edition to my Goodreads shelves, and these new editions aren't listed yet. I don't feel brave enough to add them myself, so do they just eventually get added by magic, or does someone physically update to add new editions from time to time?
Thank you, I'm looking forward to being part of this group :-)

I checked the list of editions of Bag of Bones and I didn't see the edition you're talking about. You can add the edition yourself. Go to the page of the title, you'll see a list of editions. There's also a button for adding an edition but there are rules there on how to add editions.
Goodreads does claim that they add editions and I'm sure they do. But I'm a writer myself and even though they surprise me by adding my new books and editions, sometimes I have to remind them.

They do have a Goodreads Librarian group and you can post there and ask someone to add the books. Post pictures of the covers and the isbn and even a link to Worldcat or Amazon with the books info (page counts, publishing dates etc).

Just go to the Adding New Books thread.

Still way at the top of my Stephen King favorites list.

Humm.... that's a good idea! I'll set up a thread for it and post it here.

I am wondering if there is a schedule for the group reads over the next coming months? I saw that this month is Later, but curious if there are plans for May, June, etc. Any potential to revisit some old ones? Thanks!

We are currently reading his books in publication order, one per month. We also usually do one non-King book per month and we vote on that. They are in the Group Reads folders.

Under "Group Reads Discussions" is a thread called "Stephen King Books Chronological Order," which lists them all in order, so you should be able to see what's coming next. Keep in mind that new books are interspersed when they come out, so August will probably be Billy Summers.

Thanks for this, Amanda! I did not know about the free app version. I'm going to get it now!

Yup. It's a good one. The movie, too."
The movie is excellent, I've seen it quite a few times.

I've never watched the movie but I probably will after reading the book :)

If you can, you definitely should.

Hello! Chris and I usually have the new BOM read posted the day before the first day of the new month. We do have a section called Buddy Reads if you ever want to try to get a book club read going. There is a thread for End of Watch from the last time the group read it together but there isn't one for the 2nd round of King books (only because we are going in publication order). Here is the thread:https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
This is the list of books we are reading together :https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... so if we don't have it listed yet you can go here to see what's next. I hope I answered your questions. The group has been around a long time so it's getting full as far as threads go. I try to keep them organized as much as possible. :)

I'm sorry I'm late to replying to you. I missed your message. Usually the group read is at the top of the group to make it easy to find. We are about to start The Bazaar of Bad Dreams. There's areas to talk about movies/TV shows, short stories, buddy reads, novels, Stephen King himself. Let me know if you need additional help. You can always PM me.

Angie thanks so much!

My memory is not what it used to be and I'm hoping one of you could help me refresh it. I read a lot of Stephen King a couple decades ago (and since), and I suddenly remembered a scene from one of them. It's about a woman and her best friend taking a break from a hike under a pavillion. They sit there for a while talking and laughing and enjoying the view. It is the woman's happiest memory and she keeps coming back to it throughout the novel. Does anyone know which book this is from?
Your input is much appreciated!

Could it be from The Regulators? I can't remember the character names at the moment, but the autistic boy is being cared for by his aunt, and I think she remembers a conversation in a gazebo with her sister (his mom) fondly, numerous times throughout the book.

That was Audrey Wyler when she was Audrey Garin (Seth Garin's aunt). Audrey and Janice Goodlin had gone to Mohonk Mountain House at Lake Mohonk in the Catskills in May 1982

Yes, I think so, too. I'm not as sure about your previous post; I'd need to look it up first before offering an opinion. I will say it sounds plausible.

I found this one, not entirely sure how legit/updated it is but it looks good to me https://listsofbooks.com/sk
