I am trying to remember the name of a book I read in the 5th grade (1982-1983). The book was about a gang of kid detectives. The leader was a red haired boy and he wanted to be like Sherlock Holmes. He even took up the violin (although he played it badly). I think it was a series of books although there may not have been many books in the series. The one I remember was about a dog that was missing. Its not Encyclopedia Brown - I read those too. This was a book that was one story (not a collection of mysteries). Please help - its driving me crazy!
