Mauoijenn (jennzwicker) | 681 comments I came across this on CNN.com...

http://www.cnn.com/2011/10/21/living/...

I thought I would share it with everyone. All though I'm sure everyone will have heard about these books. But you never know... I haven't read a single one, so they have been added to my to read list. :)

~~ HAPPY HALLOWEEN ~~

Bandit (lecturatoro) | 8821 comments I've heard of and am very excited for the new Palahniuk book, but the other too I didn't know about and they look awesome. Thanks for posting the link, Jenn.

I'm glad I put this up here! I just requested 2 of them from my library. :)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Hmmm, the Palahniuk book got bad ratings. Not so sure about that one now.

He's such an acquired taste, though, I don't even go by ratings anymore with him
he's actually doing a free signing at the library here this saturday, but alas, I have to work

Amanda M. Lyons (amandamlyons) Todd's a big Palahnuik reader and he's told me about some of the plots. Pretty nutso but also pretty fun. He's always refering to Choke and Stranger Than Fiction. If you're not sure if you'll like him Tressa Todd's told me that the latter is a good place to start.

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments I've read Palahnuik's (can't ever remember the spelling of his name!) Snuff (I liked it) and Fight Club (very good). I read that freaky deaky swimming pool story in Haunted (?), but I got bored with the rest of the book. I've heard great things about Choke. Wasn't Stranger Than Fiction turned into a movie?

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) | 1471 comments I tried listening to one of Colson Whitehead's audiobooks, "The Intuitionist", I think it was called, and was so bored I quit fearing I'd fall asleep on my commute. This zombie one sounds good but I may have to wait until some reviews come in.

Bandit (lecturatoro) | 8821 comments Stranger Than Fiction is Palahniuk's collection of essays, Tressa, and is of no relation to the movie of the same name. My first Palahniuk's book was Invisible Monsters and it made me an instant fan. First half was kinda slow, but second half was just terrific. Maybe you'd like that one, Tressa. Many fans agree it's one of his best.

I'm a big Palahniuk fan. I'm reading Damned right now and I'm digging it. So far it's better than Tell-All, but that, in my opinion was a flop.

mark monday (majestic-plural) | 530 comments Tressa, i feel like i can guarantee that you won't like Zone One. i think it will leave you cold. and not in a good way!

i thought it was interesting but frustrating. there were no "thrills" but lots to think about as far as human nature goes. it is a very smart, well-written book but also fairly pretentious.

if you want, i can mail it to you after a friend of mine is finished with my copy.

mark monday (majestic-plural) | 530 comments wait a sec, deja vu! i think i just said all of the above in another thread about a month ago. oh, repetitious me.

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments mark, you're so lucky to be friends with me who forgets something ten mins. later. I read more books on my Kindle these days, but thanks for the offer.

My zombie books don't necessarily have to fall into the Dawn of the Dead type zombie attack books. I would have liked Handling the Undead if it had more interesting characters. I still may give Zone One a shot. Who knows. I'm in a reading slump right now anyway.

Bandit, I'll check into Invisible Monsters. Thanks.

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments She annoyed me, too. I kept picturing that meddling old Jewish Bubby in Crossing Delancey.
