They changed it because I am on auto approve for one publisher. It now says request and I was sad. But when I tried to request a book, it was still auto approved. Don't know why, but I'll take it! Surprised to see Froi up there! I requested it, even though I have already read it. I'm still going to post my review there.

How do you get auto approved for specific publishers?

To be honest, I don't know. It was wayyy back when Netgalley was just starting out and wasn't as big as it is now. I think they were just happy to have people requesting and reviewing. Now they get so many people they even have to reject people.

It hasn't happened since then and that's probably because I'm not afraid to publish a bad review. Haha, publishers don't want to give my whining free reign. :P

If the galley is an auto-approve for everyone, it will say "Read Now". If you are put on the publisher's auto-approval list, then it will still say "Request" but will then auto-approve you immediately.

I'm on auto-approve for HarperTeen, Macmillan Children's, and Harlequin. They didn't tell me why or how I earned auto-approve status, but I imagine that it's because I'm a book blogger and that my blog stats must meet whatever arbitrary secret requirements they have in place and that I included all of the stats and info they're looking for in my personal bio.

I don't have stats in my Bio (maybe I need to fix that). But what if my stats don't live up to snuff? I have more "friends" on goodreads who follow my reviews than on my blog, would you also include that stat?

I've heard a lot about the stats lately and I'm just not sure how the best way to word them/include them. Can someone give me an example?

I would include that. Tell them everything that makes you awesome! The groups you belong to, friends you have, maybe even your average likes on your reviews, or how many comments you usually get. I have hits per month on mine, as well as FB, and Twitter followers.

I also mentioned that I don't usually give out high ratings for books. Oh, don't forget to mention when you started your blog. And mention your local influence, too. It sounds like alot, but it is probably about a paragraph. I even mentioned that I post more on GR than I do on my blog. I must have been bored when I did all that.

LOL. I started my blog in like 2007 but didn't use it much until like 2009. (I started it when I went to Switzerland thinking that I would blog the 3 months I was there. This did not happen because I was too busy enjoying Switzerland).

Leave out the blog numbers or anything you don't feel like doing. That's why I said those other things, as examples. I meant comments on your GR reviews. You can just say you get lot's of comments on all your reviews. How's that?

Just tell them the groups you're in. Your followers. And that you talk too much. Haha.

I have FB, Twitter, blog stats and that I really don't like most books I read, but I try to be fair. Definitely mention when you started it (as some pubs just look for blogs older than a year).

I have wanted to read it for awhile and the library book has been sitting next to my bed. I am just spoiled and need an ebook version. Did you review it? ... Just read it, I like how you sum up the book in the last paragraph of your review. I really hope they approve me, but regardless I plan to read this.

So they gave me Froi even though I already reviewed it. Won't lie, I feel a tad guilty for downloading it. But I kinda think it'd be fun to do a different blog feature than just a review. I do these "Breakdown of a Heroines" sometimes and might try to do one in regards to Quintana. Of course every heroine in this series seems so strong. Love that about them.

I got Froi too, I was mixed as to whether I wanted to read Froi so it encourages me to go on. I listened to the audio of the first one and I think the narrator ruined it for me, I struggled to get through it. I think a break down of heroines sounds fun.

I finished Mesquite last night, loved it. I loved it for so many reasons.

I'm kind of bummed because when I checked the two books (before I read them) that I just finished, it did not say that they were series. In fact, I finished , I was surprised to see it was a series. So, before I started the next book, I checked to see if it was a series and it said it wasn't. Well guess what? It was! Maybe I just missed seeing that they were series? Or, are they changing the descriptions overnight?

Anyway, it's annoying that a story can't be finished in one book. I thought that phase was over but I guess I was wrong. I did enjoy both books but sheesh, I would have been ok finishing it in one book! Anyway, I'm done venting! Thanks for listening!

I so agree Peep! I felt that way after reading , which by the way, I only realised was a series towards the end of the book, when it was obvious that nothing was going to be resolved. Eesh!

Wow Brandi! You go girl! I really want to read The Way We Fell. I haven't checked out Netgalley for a few weeks because I have too many Kindle and library books right now and feel pressured to read my Netgally books quickly so they see the review.

Yes I feel pressured too! I have been trying to catch up, but many of them aren't released for quite some time and when I first signed up I read that the reviews are not supposed to be posted until 30 days prior to the release. Is anyone following this rule? I have finished some, but haven't posted the reviews yet because it's still a few months away from their release date.

I organize my releases on a calendar and don't read them for review till closer to the release date. I was getting overwhelmed. I'm still a little, but at least there's a method to my madness.
