I started it just to get a little taste while I was reading Water for Elephants, and now I don't want to stop lol. It hooked me in from page 1.

TK421 (willymammoth) The Man in the Seventh Row by Brian Pendreigh. It's kind of like a movie critic's magical realism romp through classic cinema... and it kind of falls flat. The review is here if anyone is interested.

message 4271: by TK421 (new)

TK421 (willymammoth) The newest read is Overkill by Steven L. Shrewsbury. It's a sword and sworcery fantasy in the vein of Robert E. Howard--pulpy, but with more tongue-in-cheek humor and the bawdiness turned up to 11. Quite good, really. Review is here.

There's also a giveaway going on right now, if anyone is interested. It's an ebook bundle of Shrewsbury's Gorias La Gaul tales, two novels and three short stories in all.

message 4275: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've finished reading Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford by Jamie Ford last night. I really loved this book! Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet is a beautiful, fascinating, tender and moving story from beginning to end. Like the title suggests, the story is such a bitter-sweet tale, heartbreaking at times and so warm and sweet in others. All the characters were vivid, well-developed and realistic. I really loved the characters of Henry, Keiko and Sheldon, and really cared about what happened to them. I found it really hard to put this novel down and I look forward to reading more from this author! I gave this novel 5 Stars!

My full review is here:

Now I'm a few chapters into The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck by John Steinbeck.
